Glad they didn't wait to remove the ability to swap a dual s3 nose until post-sale. Owners thinking they had a stealthy F7a essentially would've been very disappointed. ...on the cap, a 2 man super hornet without a turret would be quite boring for the passenger like an Antares. I do like the idea of enhanced scanning for the gunner, would give Supers a reason to be flown over a Scorp/Hurricane

Nope. Both the F-14 and F-4 with their REOs are obsolete in 2024. That would just ruin a perfectly good ship ala the Scorpius Antares. Gunning can be interesting reading radar would be boring fast and then the ship would be gimped later.

I've seen a video with the mk1 ghost, with the proper loadout and power management was invisible on radar up until under 2km. There is a lot of potential for these ships if done right.

A stealth mk1 hornet ghost can show as "Unidentified" from 6km out and only "target lock" able once closer than about 1.4km if the enemy is a light fighter. Meanwhile you can see the enemy fighters as far as 15km out. 😅 Seems decent for popping missiles and strafing still undetected for a disorienting approach. By the time they can actually lock you it's probably too late.

I have not tested the Tracker specifically but I did rest the Zeus ES which has an S3 radar vs the Trackers S2. With the ES, I was able to detect light fighters at 20fm. I tested the Cutter Scouts D2 and it only trashed out to 15 km on a light fighter. Stealth craft can close the range as close as 1.5 km.

I'm hoping they have a bit of depth to stealth. A dedicated military stealth design like the Sabre should be top of the class, followed by military adapted designs like the ghost hornet, which have cutting edge tech, but were adapted for stealth rather than built from the ground up, followed by civilian stealth specific designs if we ever get one of those, and finally civilian stealth modifications such as the Razor EX, which should be more stealthy than regular ships in "stealth mode", but not in the same league as something like the Sabre.

Let me break it down for you, the ups of the other variants are: F7A bigger guns, better missles, a little more chonky on the HP but a little slower. F7C-S a stealth ship with a stealth bonus that will allow it to creep up on people. Still same guns and missles like the F7C and its HP pool seems to be a little lower. F7C-R a tracking ship built with a way better radar, you will have the ability to see ships and contacts way farther away, and possibly in the future be able to share that data with other ships so you can help cordinate attacks. Are they worth pledging? If you love the ships and dont want to have to rebuy it when 1.0 drops, yes. If you dont care for it too much then they are pretty cheap ingame and probably wont be above 8mil UEC and those prices are going to change in the future.

i had the mk i ghost down to sub 3km detection, and if i rmember right it was about 1.2km with everything turned off....getting behind your target, flashing everything on and then unloading the ballistic repeaters into them....pricelessssss

When you say that stealth is not in game, what is the expected feature? I know ships with lower emissions, they do not show up on the scanner until you are closer and in combat you can lose targeting if you get too far from them.

I've always had a soft spot for the Tracker because of its ability to reduce the impact of stealth. Detection ranges are different between the Tracker and the base Hornets, and loading up stealth components on it can make a difference.

F7C- fast lighter guns small missiles, lets call it the default. F7A- heavier, better gun sizes, better missiles. F7C-S - lower HP pool, and has a stealth bonus which will allow you to sneak up to players if you know how stealth gameplay works. I cant confirm this but i also think it is a little faster. F7C-R - has a big radar range and maybe (again dont qoute me on this) but may be able to share radar contacts with other ships in the future to be able to coordinate attacks better

My guess is that the center bit makes it the Ghost and Tracker. If you remove them for a weapon mount, they lose their stealth and tracking ability.

People gotta stop thinking modular means hot-swappable. Modular in engineering means built up from modules. It's like customising car options not changing the tyres. You can have a modular platform that gets customised during the build, variants on the same chassis.

I am not really a fan of the Hornet, but i can admit that with all the variants they make a good set of abilities. And i imagine that once more mechanics are in and bigger fleet battles become more common, bringing those speciality variants along will be a boost to every formation. Things like pinning targets for your squad and coordination with others out of a Tracker or taking a Super as heavy hitter will probably be reasonable choices eventually

Love these ships and how each has a unique role in the game! Stealth will be great to get in and out without detection or to hit a bounty and vanish. The Tracker will be great for RECON an area before the fleet jumps in, to scout ahead of a mining ship and provide security if needed. So much to come for sure when the Guild Missions come around. Definite add to my roster.

I can't figure out why there is a difference between Tracker and Ghost. I mean, is not stealth a core aspect of tracking? What I could see being a worthy difference is if the Ghost had a hacking/data-running module whereas the Tracker has the Scanning Module. So, the next step up from the Tracker would be the Terrapin and the next step up from Ghost would be the Drake Herald lol. The name even works for hacking/data... as in the Ghost in the Machine or the Ghost in the Shell. Even then, I don't see the point of a split. Just like there are different types of fighters/cargo/industrial/support/dropship/gunship etc... I think ships like the Tracker, Ghost, Terrapin, Herald, Hawk, Mantis, and smaller starter variants could all be lumped into a general class called "Tech Ships" In that most of these ships can do a lot of things to an okay degree (things like scanning, emp, hacking, wormhole hunting, etc) but your computers components and blade combos can make your particular ship excel at one of those tech tasks. I know CIG wants to shy away from ships that could be considered "do it all" ships, but I think there is room for a very fair middle ground. If you make a ship capable of doing a lot of tasks, but switching between those tasks requires manually switching out computer blades and a component or two, then it's not overpowered and effectively can do a bunch of tasks but requires at least some effort to switch between those tasks. I think this would also better let people scratch that customization itch by allowing them to select a ship hull they like the look of and then customize it with components/blades to make it feel really unique to them.

So, the central module is replaceable, BUT you loose some of the tealth on teh Ghost. So, is puttign either two Ss, or a S4 on there worth that? You'll have to decide. I think because of that I'd go with a firebird for the missile spam, or just the plain F7C MkII.
