Hey folks, two quick notes: 1. Correction about buybacks - you can't buy back individual CCUs using buyback tokens after applying them to a ship, and buying back warbond CCUs seems to no longer give the warbond discount. 2. Warbond CCUs offered during IAE on the individual manufacturer days are no longer guaranteed to come back during the Finale at the end of IAE. Instead, new Warbond CCUs will be offered during the finale (with some select manufacturer-specific warbonds re-offered)

Warbond CCU buyback was a change a year or two back but limited coverage of it. Great to see discussion of CCU process, number 1 thing I hear from newer backers were "I wish I knew about CCUs earlier!"

Best thing you can do is pay it forward through telling friends and Orgmates about CCU process if you hear them talking about buying a new ship, remind them in most cases a CCU is the best option out there (especially for a concept, where final product may differ from what you are expecting, so you can just melt the unapplied CCU on the ship and use credit for something else!)

@@RedJay fortunately found out how i can save money this way between citcon and iae last year. have built a bunch of chains since then, hopefully can fill the gaps this iae. my current cheapest possible merchantman would cost 180$. have lying around 140 ccu's at the moment. biggest issue is saving money below 60$ range. but as it seems the origin x1 will come out early next year i can get this fixed then.

Yes, thank you! I heard that was something that CIG did but I wasn't sure if that was a one-time thing or if it continues to happen. Excellent video. Thank you. Only thing I'd add - buying CCU tokens back has changed, at some point this year (iirc). It now seems to remove any warbond discounts. Example: I bought a $15 CCU from the MSR to a Redeemer last year. So $260 + $15 (=$275$) -> $325. I then melted it. Now, when I go to the buyback page, the game wants $65 for it, not the $15 that it used to. Buying back a warbond ship pledge (if you paid warbond price for the whole vehicle, not just a CCU) should still keep the warbond discount, though, according to the support page. I'm not rich enough to test it. 😅

Excellent point! I have a bunch of warbond ships in my buy-back, meaning ships that I paid cash for, and I can confirm that I can still buy those back at the reduced price. So you're 100% right: if you buy a cheap CCU, you have to keep it. Otherwise, once you sell it back, you lose your discount.

The only game that makes a full time game to buy stuff to play the game. I never could wrap my head around these mile long chains and keeping 19 upgrades in my inventory. Bear in mind that ships change so rapidly when it comes to how good/bad they are. I'm sure you're feeling the sting of that useless Ion. I did a chain on it and melted mine. Id rather just do the big brain move as concierge. when ship sale week goes live. Melt a few ships for credit. Buy every ship you're interested in, pick the one you want for the time being, melt the rest. 2 buy backs per quarter means I can easily go buy back ships whenever I want if one gets nerfed into the pavement. You basically get all the ships in your buy back list then. If youre an LTI lover then just have 2 or 3 LTI cheap ships hanging around for when you find the one you want to keep forever and use the ccu on it for the token. Things change far too rapidly for ne to be comfortable to CCU chain to save 50 bucks and then when CIG makes changes to the ship, it COULD very well no longer be worth it to own.

Yep that's totally fair, but while I wasn't yet concierge this was a great way to get the most ship for my money RIGHT NOW, to help recover from wipes/resets. Since I'm creating content for youtube I definitely want to have access to the latest combat ships when they come out so I am planning on having a pool of credits set aside just for having the latest combat ship, but I do know of a few ships that I want as my forever homies purely out of love for them across numerous patches, like a constellation and an Avenger. I definitely did feel the sting of the Ion though, but I just turned it into a retaliator and started torping bounties instead lol.

I think of the "earning down" method (see inforunners fixmyfleet vids) works best for modularity of fleet/experience. I like the idea of dedicated mining/medium cargo pledged for being able to start after wipe at aesteroid mining. saving light fighters/cargo ships as buy in game makes wipes more exciting because you're not stuck with whatever flavor of the month you pledged for! You can steadily earn you way into whatever game loop you want to focus on that patch and also not limited to single 200-400$ hulls. Cargo refactor? 4m goes from being invested in a c2 to a hull C for ease of loading cargo! Missile restock bug? 4m goes from retaliator to eclipse for faster claim time! Let alone constant meta shifts for light fighters. Although can't seem to be disappointed in the gladius.

Thanks for checking it out anyway even though it wasn't exactly up your alley. I don't want to spend a ton on this game either but I do want a couple of different starting ship options, like a combat ship and a daily ship. Can someone help me? I have an Aurora LN game package from back in 2014 with 3 months insurance. If I want to upgrade to a drake cutter for example (which has LTI atm), can I even do that or will the cutter then have 3 months insurance only? Also, if I melt the LN and then buy the cutter, will I have to go for the whole ship package + SQ42 or do those not get melted, since my game package is linked to my LN? Any help before the sale is over would be much appreciated. :)
@WingZeroType
@WingZeroType Жыл бұрын
hey so if you were to melt your 2014 game package that has SQ42 included and rebought the cutter game package you would lose out on SQ42. If you upgrade the aurora LN to the cutter, i don't think you would get the upgraded insurance and so you'd be stuck with the 3 month insurance in that case, sorry. But on the plus side, insurance isn't really *that* big of a deal, CIG has stated that numerous times in the past. But I still understand wanting to improve your insurance. Occasionally you can perform an "IAE Upgrade" on a ship to get the 120 month IAE insurance but those are usually via warbond CCUs, which wasn't offered for the drake cutter.

@WingZeroType
@WingZeroType 20 күн бұрын
So not every ship has what's called a "warbond CCU". The F7C MK2 didn't come with a warbond CCU, so you can't spend real money and get the real-money-discount for an upgrade. They're only offering that discount for the full price ship. So it doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong, it's just CIG is being stingy with the discount this time.

The only downside to this is that upgrading to a warbond package does not give you the warbond perks such as LTI. Only what the original CCUed ship has such as a mustang with only 6 months of insurance. But if you start off with something with more such as IAE then its better. Some people are crazy when it comes to CCUs lol they save something like 1000$ just to get a big ship.
@WingZeroType

Yes, that's why a bunch of people like to start with LTI tokens. Last IAE they also made it so that if you did a warbond IAE CCU you were able to turn something into 120 month insurance. if I melt my package, I can't buy warbound packages with the melted credit tho right? I'm confused
@WingZeroType
@WingZeroType 7 ай бұрын
that's correct. If you melt your package you get credits for the total amount of money that you spent. Any time you want a warbond, you'll need to put new money in. So if you melt your package, you can use those credits to fill in the gaps between warbond CCUs with regular CCUs
@Suirady
@Suirady 3 ай бұрын
I don't understand something.. you filled the gap from Mustang to the Titan with the Pisces and said you can use store credits, but those are still money that you spent at some point in time, so it's the same as saying you straight up bought the Pisces for 45$ and only got a 5$ discount on the 50$ Titan warbond.. Am I missing something here?
@WingZeroType
@WingZeroType 2 ай бұрын
hey you're totally right, store credits are still money that you've spent at some point in time for the game. But what often happens is that players have some store credits left over, either because they didn't know about CCU chains and they have a bunch of high-melt-value ships or they just got tired of certain ships and wanted to try something different. So the priority for CCU chains is typically to first and foremost, lower the overall cost of a ship. But the 2nd priority after that is to lower the amount of *new money* that you need to add to the game, making it so that you use as much of the existing funds in your account as possible to increase the price of the ships that you own. I hope that made some sense, feel free to let me know if it didn't and I can try to find a better way to explain.

hey sorry for the delay in response, but i bought warbond CCU's whenever they were available and they were between the start and target ships, and eventually I had enough warbond CCU's to fill most of the spots in the chain and then i filled in any smaller gaps with regular (non-warbond) CCUs. We never know which ships are going to be warbond CCU offerings so you can't really plan in advance, but rather you just need to see if the CCU that you are looking at fits between your starting ship and ending ship.

@WingZeroType
@WingZeroType Жыл бұрын
Hey so I think it's because it's an initial concept sale, so they aren't offering warbond CCUs for the spirits, only a full-priced warbond. That is sometimes how it works with rare or quantity-limited ships as well. In the upcoming IAE event (in just under 3 weeks) we should get a bunch of warbond CCUs. I think we'll get at least 1 available per day of the event and if it happens the same way it did last year, all of the warbond CCUs will be available again during the last couple days of the event. But yes, for now there are no Warbond CCUs for the spirit series of ships, which is why i ended up getting a regular $10 CCU from a $100 Cutlass Black to the $110 Spirit C1.

yep that's how the chain works. So if you have an Avenger Titan and apply a warbond to a Gladius, then the next CCU in the chain needs to be a Gladius -> (something else) CCU. Once you apply the upgrade your ship is no longer an Avenger Titan, it's now a Gladius.

One simple noob question: Why I should spent money for ships (except the starter package) if I can buy all ships ingame? Are there any advantages?
@WingZeroType
@WingZeroType 9 ай бұрын
The primary advantage is you don't have to grind for the other ships after any resets. If/when the game ever ships, the income will be significantly slower than it is right now in the alpha stage. We've got an inflated income right now compared to ship cost since we have so many bugs and wipes. Once things are stable, the grind will be longer. Some people don't want to do that, so they would rather buy the ship. Also, there are some specialized ships that can do things that starter ships can't - think of asteroid mining and salvage gameplay.

So one comment on melting a ship that's made with CCU chains and buying it back. You can only buyback the base ship it was created from, any applied CCU to it is permanently gone and those cannot be bought back. You can also not "unapply" a CCU, there's been rare circumstances that CIG support has reversed a CCU apply for someone, but don't count on it.

Thank you for the correction about the buying back of CCUs from a chain, I'll make a pinned comment about that so ppl see that. Wouldn't the best strategy just be to wait until the last day and have as full of a chain as possible?
@WingZeroType
@WingZeroType Жыл бұрын
Yes, for IAE specifically. But if you want to go longer than just IAE you could as well. One thing is there *might* be some CCUs that show up on the individual manufacturer days that aren't available at the end of IAE, I'm not sure. So I'm going to buy the CCUs that fit into the chains I'm looking for as they show up on the individual days just incase.

@@WingZeroType how do you know which ccus will be available? Is it just based on past president? I'd like to get a perseus on discount but when I go to build a chain with the app site it says unreachable.
@WingZeroType
@WingZeroType Жыл бұрын
@@spider0804 I haven't used the app sites myself, but it *might* be saying unreachable right now because I don't think the ship is currently offered for sale. And I'm not certain but it might be that those capital ships aren't allowed to be CCU'd anymore, but I don't know that for sure. You might just have to wait until IAE since I do know for sure that the ship isn't available all the time so if you try to make a chain right now it wouldn't be possible since the ship isn't available for sale right now. As for which ships will be available, almost all ships in the game will be available for sale, based on what's happened in past IAEs. There's only a few super rare ships that won't be available. When it comes to capital-sized ships, they can be quantity limited and they go on sale a few different times and only a certain amount of them will be sold before they're sold out, so you'll want to keep your eye out for announcements around that. As far knowing which warbond CCUs will be available so that you can build in discounts, there isn't a way to know that. Any newly flyable ships are typically offered for a warbond price but then there are also a host of other random ships also offered for a warbond price, and that changes from year to year and we don't have any way of knowing what will be offered so it's just about waiting to see what comes up for discount and buying it if you have space in your CCU chain for it :) For example, if I've got a partial chain up to a ship worth $100 and I'm aiming for the $190 Constellation Taurus, I can buy any warbond CCUs between $105 and $180, since i'll still be able to connect them to the rest of my chain and back to the constellation taurus.

@@WingZeroType you say you bought some warbond upgrades and some credit upgrades where is the credit coming from? Im assuming you melted other ships? if im starting from my starter ship or I just buy a ship to start the ccu I would not have any credits would I. and every upgrade would have to be real money right?
@WingZeroType
@WingZeroType Жыл бұрын
@@yobizzyb yep that's right. Thanks for pointing that out, I didn't explain that well. Before I knew about CCU chained discounts I upgraded my starter Avenger to a Constellation Taurus, so I had a lot of credits when I melted that that could be used to fill in the gaps between warbonds. And if you do that a couple of times when getting new ships that's sort of how you accumulate some credits. E.g. right now I'm considering melting my Scorpius, which would give me $145 in credits and I'll put some more fresh money into the game and potentially get another ship that's cheaper than the scorpius since I can't upgrade the scorpius into a cheaper ship.
