Agreed! In my opinion the hornet and saber should be the absolute pinnacle of combat ships with light fighters (gladius, arrow etc) and heavy fighters (vanguard, hurricane etc) being strong in their respective niches. Here's hoping the master modes update coming soon (tm) changes this!

It isn't military Hornet, but it's later civilian version (with military tradition ;D ). Even if it is specialized dogfight fighter it is considered as old construction in lore, and Aurora is pretty solid light gun-howler. For what I understand most ships in game are pretty balanced, but with different flavoring and specializations.

***** As for now 300i was death machine. They need to nerf it. Only Aurora has some bigger problems, but that is a cargo-base starter. The point is that is world where because of piracy and aliens, and lack of military control use of military class weapon is allowed by civilian. Furthermore F7C is civilian version of outdated military ship, when 3xx series is pretty new construction.

In California there is a ice cream parlor near the beaches I believe its Laguna Beach where they serve Geliato? supposedly its one of the best in California and people from all over the state would travel just to get some of it and what ever else they had then head home thats how popular it is. Likely the same would apply in star citizen given FTL tech and privately own civillian ships are common in the verse. There is also a little snippet in the first Iron Man movie when Iron Mans CEO picked up pizza for him all the way from New York from a well known pizza shop and brought it to Malibu. Basically if you have the resources distance becomes trival.

My friends and I had already planned to build one of the largest squadrons ever seen in this game, with thousands of players helping each other out. Reality struck, money problems happened, my pc burned down and I never got to play this game. But, I can still look at your game with a bit of pride, knowing that for someone out there, this game is a breath of fresh air and a beautiful testament to what you can achieve with just a shared dream made reality by unbelievable support from those who want to make that dream a reality. Keep up the outstanding content, maybe eventually I'll get to try it myself, but till that day - keep breaking new boundaries and let no ambition be unattainable.

I just hope its not stupid when it comes to PvP. SC really got its work cut out getting the exact formula for PvP. For example, I would expect ships to be able to take alot of shots from enemy ships before it becomes obsolete, with actual pieces flying of your ship, and eventually not working all together. Very interesting to know how they are going to handle deaths and respawning.. if any..

***** In the universe death would work like this. If you die you get back on a planet 'wounded'. This will include loss of limbs/scars. But after X amounts of death you'll be irretrievably dead and some other character(which you decide at the start of your game I think) will inherit your stuff. Ofcourse this only counts for the universe, obviously in TDMs/DMs/CTF modes this won't count.

Alexander Troshin the permadeath is just a glorified way for when you do get killed... you wont loose any stats. you'll just select a next of kin to continue on. its technicly no actuall diffrence then just respawning when you die. but atleast this way has a more realistic sense to it.

I originally pledged the kickstarter back in 2012 with the Bounty Hunter package, the Origin 300i. I realized pretty quickly that I'd need more firepower, so I upgraded that original starter ship to the F7C-M Super Hornet when I got the chance. I've bought a number of CCUs over the years to upgrade that F7C-M further to something else, but I just can't bring myself to do it. The ships behave like turrets is what I was getting it. Being highly manoeuvrable to the point of really not needing gimballed turrets in single fighters. Doesn't matter, still alpha i came down pretty hard on the control schemes. I'm not really happy with them currently (the FM included) but we'll see where they take it.

Mark Holtze You are right that good pilots don't need gimbals, but they still help. I do choose fixed weapons mostly though. If the other pilot is good the gimbal become more helpful.

I just wish they had of tried a number of different drastic variables during the last year. I feel like the state of the FM and "mouse aim plus fly" has been in so long that I was starting to think they were okay with it. Thankfully the hoopla on the forums have directed some attention and hopefully some results to the issue. The dream is very much there, but lets be honest. They are NO WHERE NEAR finished....I still think we are a good number of years out of the PU. SQ 42 (will be late) but will come well before it I suspect. Controlled environments and don't have to worry so much about net code issues.

Mark Holtze Head track TrackIR, VR will be best IMO. Not as casual friendly, but HOTAS and HOSAS users with head tracking are doing quite well. 25% of users have stick and are 40% of the top tier. You really need 8 axis control to fly the ship and aim. Mouse gets 4 by chasing gimbals. HOTAS has has 4, 6 with a thumb stick/nipple. You really need that for HOTAS. HOSAS has 6. Head tracking adds the other 2 for a total of 8. The ships flying so smoothly was demanded. Originally there was some wobble from inertia. The flight computer's algorithms were improved to damp that.. I sort of liked it more before though as you needed to be more deliberate, thinking ahead. Being too twitchy didn't work as there was more of a feel of weight to the ships. I also expect a long PU.

Star Citizen is pretty much going to be the next iDevice in game form. Everyone will try to make one like it, but the quality will never be matched. This game is going to make a lot of happy gamers, the ones not living in the past, that is.

You're right and wrong. Star Citizen will probably never be matched in quality at least not for a very long time. You're wrong in thinking that "iDevices" are anywhere near the best in their respective markets.

TheBoostHeroMan you are correct most 300 series are faster; however, are they as maneuverable or have as much firepower or armor? That is the hornet - never claimed to know what speed was :) (unlike the 300 commercial)

Came back to Star Citizen after 5 years away. The game has made huge leaps, but what happened to my Hornet? I lost my missile racks, my wing-mounted laser cannons (the cool green ones), and the iconic red decals lining the fuselage and wings. I honestly felt pretty neutered when I got into combat and realized I only was 50% combat effective as I was before. Like idk if it was OP or something - I never got to play PVP with it until this year. I just wanna know why they did it. EDIT: How did he get groceries and ice cream, but I can't fit a single black box in my hornet?

Jim Wilson Well, I find it to be more immersive without the sound. Listening to the sound of the engine booting up inside the hangar, then dropping out into open space and suddenly everything is silent. It just feels great in my opinion. They said something about a sound modulator that simulates the sounds for the pilots to make dogfights easier to manage just by listening to where the enemy is positioned, which then would give the whole thing a more or less logical explanation. I hope they leave it up to the players to decide whether they want to experience the sound in open space or not.

Gavi Pincus I tried to run some game on my PC in 4K..... yea let's just say that only Mount and Blade: Warblade was playable. BF4 ran out of video memory and crashed. Skyrim didn't even launch.... I have a 660ti, not a high card or anything just thought it was funny how hard it is to imagine 4K being a standard.

***** Well I just bought a 770 GTX and should be able to run 4K games at ~30fps. So running them 60fps even today with the more expensive GPUs, it shouldn't take too long before they actually are the standard. (Of course, the consoles and such will lack behind so they wont be the mainstream)
