#Star_Delta_Starter power wiring and operation explained.
Motor starter with #Star_Delta_connection is probably the most common #reduced_voltage_starter for a #3_phase_induction_motor in present day use.
These starters are used in an attempt to reduce the start current applied to the motor during starting, to reduce the disturbances and interference transferred on to the electrical supply.
The Star Delta starter is manufactured using three contactors, a timer and a thermal overload.

what is the recommended starter for a 10hp motor with 3 wires?

For 10 hp 3 phase motor, star delta starter can be used.. DOL starter can be used only upto 5 hp motors.

voltage monitoring is usually added. If one phase fails, the motor must switch off in order not to overload it.
