For a second you think “oh that’s quite big, that must be the bottom of the star destroyer” and then it’s revealed that it was just a tiny portion of the star destroyer, truly encapsulating how massive the ship is, and then a few seconds later, at 7:35, you see the bigger one (can’t remember name), cover the other star destroyer in shadows, showing how much bigger that one is. Then, it shows the biggest of all the empires tools at 7:44: darth Vader, much more powerful than any star destroyer. This scene is great.

Nathan #7 actually this ship is called Super Class Super Star Destroyer and it was renamed into Executor Class because Darth Vader named it like this. The Super Class is not strong compared to the New Republic Viscount Heavy Star Defender. Super Star Destroyer are not the strongest types of ships the classification of Super Star Destroyers begins at 8km. But true the 5,000 Turbo Laser could tear smaller MC80 Home One Types apart in seconds. There even was a Super Class SSD with cloaking devices. Also Super Star Destroyer is also a classification by the Anaxes War College.

The Star Destroyer made Star Wars popular. The audience was captured in the first minute of action after seeing that ho hum, another white little space opera ship fly away and then seeing the closeup flyover of the star destroyer. Everything after that was just forty years of filler between star destroyer shots and death stars. Crashing that super star destroyer into the Death Star II was the FX crescendo of the trilogy.

Sorry for the six month later reply. But felt the need to ease your pain. I understand where you coming from and I hope this helps: If you notice the X Wing uses proton torpedoes to blast the shield generator. Star Destroyers like all capital ships in Star Wars are equipped with deflector shields. These shields absorb laser and blaster attacks quite effectively but not physical objects like missiles. Allowing weapons like proton torpedoes to do maximum damage. Even then however, Star Destroyers are equipped with sufficient countermeasures to deal with incoming missles, especially in the bridge where they are located. That being said since the X Wing managed to fire them from such a close range the countermeasures were rendered useless and the generators got hit. Hope this helps.

I love how even though the original trilogy had lesser technology to work with, the sounds make you practically feel the movie. Like, new gen movies use Bass to make you feel stuff, but the original trilogy got you feeling all kinds of sounds. Like, in RotJ, when the A-wings blow up the ISD's shield bulb, and the scene where the executor crashes into the Death Star. Both scenes l show unrealistic attributes but the scenes are done in a way that feels like you're a part of the environment rather than trying to be impressed by super detailed lighting and dynamic pandering to the senses. Sometimes things just need to be simple but impactful instead of complex to the point of unconscious disconnect

I only saw rise of rey and it was so disappointing. The originals just had a depth that the news one didn’t. I feel it’s that it had a serious tone to it that people just don’t want now a days. I’m not even going to rant about everything that I didn’t like about the new movie as apparently most people didn’t either. Anyway onto the sound. Ya. Even in the clone wars series the sound is great. The clone wars series is better than all the movies imo.

Witch does not make much sense, if your ship is damaged it makes a lot more sense to bring it into a stable orbit instead of trying to crash land it. If you have enough juice to land, you should be able so sustain live support and make repairs in space. I mean a ship in space is not something like an airplane where you have to land when you have engine problems or something. And if you have to abandon ship it's safest to get picked up by another vessel instead of going to the surface.

Rogue One was such a good movie. We got to see some beautiful shots of the Imperial Class Destroyers and it completely won me over when the Hammerhead corvette pushes one Destroyer onto another giving us the best of a 'Destroyer getting destroyed' moment

@@ryhs0 I just always thought the Death Star was between the forest moon and the Executor at that point. Because that ship is about 12 miles long, meaning it fell to the Death Star at at least a mile per second. I think the Death Star, as big as it is, definitely needed help from the moon.

Some of my favorite scenes in the entire series is the three Imperial-class Star Destroyers nearly colliding in an attempt to capture the Millennium Falcon in ESB, and in ROTJ when Han Solo & Chewbacca are piloting the Lambda-class shuttle Tydirium towards the Sanctuary Moon, and flies alongside the massive bridge of the Super-class Star Destroyer Executor all casual like. So epic.

Once the SSD's shields go down, the Rebel fleet would have taken so much losses not just from the fleet but the Death Star firing at the capital ships over and over. Once that happens, they could send all of their fighters to destroy the Millennium Falcon, killing the "Destroy Death Star" plan. Once that happens, they would send some AT-ATs to fight off the ground forces and possibly capture the lot.
