as a pure director(meaning not a writer-director). i'd put him on number one tied with Scorsese(Scorsese hasn't a screenplay in years so you can't really say he is a writer director)

Fincher isn't a writer director so that is a ridiculously stupid thing to judge him on. That's like saying Digital director: Fincher>Nolan. Plus Nolan isn't at all, even close to higher concept than Fincher; Nolan is mostly faux-high-concept.
