This game holds a lot of good memories...namely involving a friend of mine who died recently. Through him I got to enjoy this game. We'd share laughs, repeat lines for fun ("Ten Seconds.") and I'd continue to learn about things I never did due to lack of understanding. Now that it's coming back...I'll run through again. Do it for your friend. Do it for you. Star Ocean 2 is the best god damned RPG even in front of FF6 7 8 9 and 10. RPGs learned from this one. They did SO MANY new things... they encompassed it all. I could type for hours... i really could... about every little detail... but yaknow... if yaknow... you know. I love Star Ocean: The 2nd Story. I wish I could make every person play it and understand why it was ahead of its time. I want to plop them down in front of a box T.V., a playstation, and the 2 disc star ocean 2 game. heres the Prima Official Strategy Guide.... dont talk to me until youve beaten the Temple of the Ancients. 😂

They stayed true to the spritework, and completely overhauled the environments. The environments even look similar to the pre-rendered backgrounds in the original. It looks incredible! I recently rediscovered my PSP port of this game, but I think I might wait to play this instead.

When the logo and name was leaked, I was 100% sure that, despite the changed name, it would just be the port of Second Evolution R with slightly more remastered graphics, artworks and cutscenes - just like with First Evolution R. Of course I would never say no to a Remake of one of my most favorite Games of all time. But I just didn't see it happening. So... You made someone really really happy today with this announcement! This will be a Day 1 purchase. Just waiting for the pre-orders of the physical version to pop up in my country. My brother, who also played the heck out of the PS1 Game back then, is also hyped for it! And I love the chosen style. If I want the old one, I can always get my PSP booted up again. Good job on that one SE! See you all in November. ♥

Dude, it's flat out the best RPG I've ever played. If it's your first time, please google how to unlock the Cave of Trials. It's one missable cutscene early in the game, but if you get it, you basically double the amount of content in the game. It's insane they hid it but whatever.

When Celine used Eruption, the combat didn't pause- that is a huge improvement if spells no longer stop combat

@@tuba7861 You’re right, I didn’t notice that until you pointed it out! Interesting, they seem to have toned down spell animations significantly so as to not stop the flow of battle like in the original game, but personally, I prefer the original explosive spell animations even if it paused combat...yes, even after the umpteenth time in a row of Celine casting Eruption, or even more catastrophic-Explosion, whereas the entire battlefield would start warping due to the intensity of the spell. In any case, I don’t think the quirky yet fun spell combination mechanic has carried over from the original either. I’d be hella surprised if it did though!

IIRC, Noel and Chisato aren't mutually exclusive, you just need an open party slot by the time you recruit her. Still though, a reason to not run three melee and Rena is great, will actually get to use Leon and Celine more.

Star Ocean 2 was my first try in this series and it was a great game and it still is! So having a new remake in modern console, it loos like I'll be picking this one again...but why do I feel like this is Valkyrie Profile 1? lol... probably the art style.
