As a person of faith. I'd feel much more comfortable, going to a religious school different from my own religion than a secular school that mocks and despises all religions.

I understand that for Keyshawn the Honor Code standards probably wouldnt be what he wants. However, as a person of strong faith (Jewish) I dont see why Retzlaff wouldnt feel very comfortable with it. I am quite sure the LDS students at BYU dont have any problem with Retzlaff being Jewish, in fact I am sure they think it is cool.

Wow! What an amazingly ignorant question! Would he ask that same question if Retzlaff went to TCU, etc. Does he not understand that players of different races have been attending BYU and playing on the team for decades now? The question is so unbelievably stupid I feel embarrassed for him.

You are 500% correct. He showed his ignorance and even perhaps racism.

I have always been a fan and liked Keyshawn, but I admit I am disappointed in his tone and the type of questions he was asking. If he is going to ask questions about faith try to know more about the religions you are questioning. He demonstrated a clear level of ignorance he could have easily overcome by researching it better. Additionally, his statements about Mormons and Polynesians were a bit insensitive and discriminatory towards religion, race, and culture. Clearly his knowledge comes strictly from stereotypes and perceived biases. Frankly, why not stick to football anyway and Jake's success as a quarterback, and BYU's early success this year going 5-0 to start the season??? That would have been a much more compelling interview. Btw, Jake handled his lame questions really well. Come on Keyshawn... We love you and expect better from you.

Keyshawn your ignorance is shameless. Brother you assume too much and have very little experience and it's obvious. You should educate yourself before speaking.... And I mean you should only speak after you experience it.

I gained a great deal of respect for Jake and his willingness to stand for himself, his teammates and his school. This is how people make a principled stand while respecting the differences in all of us.

Ridiculous. MacMahon was Catholic back in the 70s, and he didn't exactly fit in honor code wise. Lol😅

How is it ignorant that Keyshawn wouldn't feel comfortable attending a school that only has a 1% Black student population and a less than 2% Non LDS population?

I think the hardest part of BYU is more the honor code for non members. While people do fornicate and drink it is against the rules. Most people think college is the time to party and sleep around and when you run risk of getting kicked out by getting caught it’s definitely not ideal.

It can actually be a big plus or positive for students and athletes who have great aspirations in life. It keeps them focused and out of trouble. And for the parents sending their kids to school it is a relief knowing their money (in many cases) isn't being wasted away.

The BYU of today is much different than the BYU of the seventies when black people weren't even allowed in the temple let alone recruited to play football and basketball there.
