I was a fan of this show back in the day and always thought she was amazing. Years later I had the opportunity to see her in Jekyll and Hyde on Broadway and she was amazing as was her co-star Robert Cuchiolli. The dance club DJ Junior Vasquez remixed one of her songs in the 90s and it was a huge hit on the dance chart and in the clubs. She was one of the best Star Search female vocalist winners ever.

Of the fimalists...Linda Eder is now a Broadway star, Countess Vaughn became an actress, and Keith D'Orio(sp) is a dancer with Janet Jackson. Unfortunately Dee Dee Belson dies of cancer a few years ago.

Sophia was more gorgeous. Cynthia won because of her speaking ability and Sophia chose the wrong video in the finals. The Born To Be Wild was the last video she should've chosen.

soapsuds if you had been advising Sophia what video would you have done in the Final? If I had been advising her, I would have done what Tracey Ross did in 84 season. I would have used my third win video in the SF and I would have used Lady in Red in the Final.

@@BrenCap99 I would have advised her to use Tango in Night by Fleetwood Mac. I know she lost with that video to Lori Dickerson but she received 3.50 stars on it and looked great in that video. Then I would have used Lady in Red in the finals.

Compare Linda’s reaction to this little girl. Linda is a reflection of her parents and I’m sure this little girls mom comes from a rough background, the behavior though I believe is more out of being overwhelmed and insecurity being rather plump and dumpy. When she first took her place I thought “ oh brother if she loses she’ll scream “ discrimination” . Winning she was all self consumed. Linda warmly hugged DeDe and almost apologizes . In interviews given decades later she says she didn’t like shows like this because talent shouldn’t be pitted against each other in competition.

All Victor Cook did was yell his songs. He wasn't that good IMO but Barry Fish wasn't good either. The 1988 finals overall was complete bust.

Linda was amazing with not only a huge big voice but could hit those soft suttle notes with the best of them. Her voice control was crazy. She was by far the star of that season
