Thank you! That bit with the Travel Pod always got me, even as a kid seeing this movie, because of the reused footage from TMP - you see the Pod dock with the port on the side of the engineering hull, and yet Kirk and Co step out into the Torpedo Bay... I'd always hoped for someone with the necessary skill to redo the VFX of that scene and show the Pod locking on to the airlock up there. Nice!

You did AWESOME!

In this movie, you see and feel the size and scooe of the Enterprise. I saw this at the theatre when it first premiered-. There's nothing like seeing this movie on the big screen.

One thing they missed. As an Admiral and Chief of Operations, Kirk was entitled to six bells, befitting a Rear Admiral, and announced to all over ships speakers”Operations arriving!” Spock was correct as per usual. As soon as Star Fleet assigned Enterprise to duty, Kirk was automatically in command

What are "spacde" scenes?

Why do you guys always go to impulse power and NEVER light up the impulse drive engines in blender?

They are lit at 7:03. Are you referring to a more intricate effect?
@apoch0032 ай бұрын
@@erinpatrickdunn1 They exit space dock at 1/4 impulse and the impulse engines are not lit.
@erinpatrickdunn12 ай бұрын
@@apoch003 That would be a movie mistake. Sulu does indicate 'ahead 1/4 impulse power'. However that is not what we see on screen. What we see are the use of maneuvering thrusters to exit drydock. This is exemplified in Star Trek the motion picture (where most of the dry dock scenes in Start Trek 2 were lifted from), Kirk gives the order for 'thrusters ahead, Mr Sulu' when leaving Drydock. 1/4 impulse speed would be too fast and potentially too dangerous for a ship leaving drydock.
@apoch0032 ай бұрын
@@erinpatrickdunn1 I totally agree there. However, in st6, they leave space dock at 1/4 impulse....on another users mini movie...and he got the thrusters right and the impulse engine. Probably the best redo I've seen. Look that one up. Valeris even questioned the order for 1/4 impulse out of space dock.

@@apoch003 I understand. However, I was going for on-screen accuracy rather than script accuracy. If I could dub over that line from Sulu, I would. However, I wouldn't dare disrupt George Takei's delivery. That would get me in even more trouble.
