I don’t think the Fanstoys Blitz will be about 100 bucks better than this. I hope this is a success for the company and they make more figures. This level of toon accuracy is awesome.

FYI I was IMPRESSED by him so much, I ordered a SECOND one. I love my DX9, and although DX9s tank is a little wonky, I like it, and even though the Plane mode isn't accurate, I LOVE it. That being said, STAR TOYS all 3 modes are Pretty Darn Good. I have heard several whiners complain it's lacking paint, but for the price and for what you get, those whines fall on deaf ears. If STAR TOYS does decide to go Full Paint, I will be in, as long as the Price is Right. Thanks for the review

Looking at FT Thomas next to ST-01, I kinda feel like you're seeing what Fanstoys Blitzwing would look like had Fanstoys not burnt their relationship with Thomas's designer. Where did that designer go? To a company that KOs 3rd party toys under various brand names. A KO company that might also fund more legitimate 3P endeavors like Transform Element and Deformation Space... two companies that folded and gave birth to StarToys. I got my ST-01 today and I'll say it has blown up my expectations. It isn't perfect but there is some smart engineering and a degree of polish you don't normally get from a company's first toy. Also jumping off with a triple changer so quick after TE/DS folding indicates that the designer already had this design pretty well fleshed out before he had to move companies.

For whatever reason Lightning isn't very photogenic which had me a little apprehensive on this purchase, but in hand it's fantastic. In pictures and video it looks a little more blue but it's actually a nice deep purple. The engineering is solid and I think all three modes look good, which is not easy for a triple changer. I think it was tough to collapse the legs because you forgot to open the locking panels. Once done a couple of times the transformation isn't so bad. Definitely easier than the DS Seekers.

The tail fins from the jet mode should be flipped forward in robot mode to match the cartoon, out of the box. Looks amazing. I think mine will come tomorrow. I notice your box is dinged, good thing it’s not covered in stellar art.

Fanstoys will never release a Blitzwing. So this looks as good as it gets.

I don’t think they’d be able to do a better Astrotrain. Thomas is super solid.

I disagree. My Thomas feels like shit(loose arms and bicep swivel and head) and chips paint super easy and barely holds together in its alt modes, the waist flaps block the swivel, no ab crunch and hideous double jointed knee bend. Not only do I think they could do better I think they could pretty easily. I paid over $300 and still loathe that thing. Sadly need to transform him back to robot for when this blitzwing arrives. And Thomas is definitely overpriced as well. Oh and almost forgot leg panels that don’t tab in back panels that don’t actually tab in and his wings constantly move around when you touch him.

Do the wings tab in robot mode on your copy? It looks like they should, but they do not see to want to tab in.

I would trade the chance of paint chipping for a nice coat of paint. The purple plastic looks cheaper then the figure actually is.
