Where is our Quantum Leap style show featuring Daniels. Each week he steps into a different time period in the temporal war. They can do anything they want, write anything they want, as long as they fix the temporal incursion they can write off anything as a temporary change to the timeline. Daniels jumps in and the Duras and Romulans have won the civil war for instance, he has to fix the timeline. Visit any point in the trek timeline. Call it Star Trek: Temporal wars, Timelines or something. I'd watch the sh*t out of that

3 reasons this wont happen: 1: Money. You need new sets, uniforms and actors each week. The old sets doesnt exist anymore you would have to rebuild ds9 etc. 2. actors: You can meet Picard cause he is too old now, so you cant visit guys we know. 3. its only for fans not the general audience. and even not all fans know who duras is. So you need allways much exposition so that all know it. And why should newcomers would watch it? Changes to a universe you dont know dont matter much for you

@stephanieamare5 ай бұрын
It's also mine. I was a lil' kid who was staying up later than they were kind of allowed to--reading this one book about NASA and space, and drawing my own ideas for space ships, while using the TV on low volume as as a light source. Then I decided to switch channels and landed on this film with a major space battle, and I was like "what the...what is going on?"...and after they went through this apparent tear in space, and back in time...and dropping that date. I was 11, the movie was Star Trek First Contact. I've been a Trekkie since. I tuned into Voyager mid-way of Season 3. So if/when I get lumped into that crowd of people who aren't real Trekkies for liking things like the Kelvin Timeline films or New Trek...I just have to smile and say "stfu, my birthday is literally a date in Trek lore".

There is a fan theory about James Bond that says that "James Bond" is also a code name, like "007", and that when an agent becomes agent 007 they also adopt the code name. This is an in-universe explanation of why 007 changes appearance from time to time and why has been an agent for about about 60 years now. I wonder if it could be the same for Daniels: that there have been many agents Daniels throughout the centuries, being replaced every so often, but always with the same role.
@vic50155 ай бұрын
In the novels, Bond doesm't age. Ian Fleming's Bond would be nearly 100 now.
@QuintusAntonious5 ай бұрын
I don't think it's required though. 171 is not unreasonable in-universe for a human age. Dr. McCoy lived to be at least 130, and that was in the 23rd/24th century. Daniels had over 1000 years of medical advancement beyond this. Plus, he's a time traveler. Even if he is Kovich actor David Cronenberg's actual age (81), it's easy enough to explain by him having gotten stuck at some point in the future when time travel bans went into effect.

In time’s embrace, Kovich and Daniels align, revealing ten things we know as their fates intertwine. In the present, secrets unfold in the shadows of Enterprise, where a story is retold. Cold wars of time are fought, and in the fabric of history, futures are sought. On April fifth, a birthday to cheer becomes a day for legends, both far and near. From Peoria comes the everyman’s face, a humble beginning in time’s endless race. Wisdom vast and knowledge profound make him a master of time, where answers abound. Timot Danlen, his true name, explores new legends in the tapestry of time. Death is transient, a mere twist of fate; for travelers like him, it’s never too late. In a theater where destinies play, Kovich becomes the puppet in time’s grand ballet. Connections in shadows ignite, allowing their futures to take flight. Soft scrambled eggs symbolize a bond built on trust, in the heart of the captain, where their friendship is just.

Daniels' first appearance in the novels is "By the Book" by Dean Wesley Smith & Kristine Kathryn Rusch, set in early Season 1, well before the character would appear on-screen. Well, not really. The authors likely chose the name at random, unaware that the showrunners would later use the same name for a recurring character. But Memory Beta generally assumes it's the same character. He was one of the security officers who suffered a psychic attach by the Hipon, and spent much of the novel in a coma.

Reading the contest I'm surprised at how many people liked the reveal. I'm glad you all enjoyed it even if I didn't. It felt tacked on and out of nowhere, and from what Michelle Paradise herself said, it wasn't something thought of until at the earliest sometime during season 4, if not 5. I dunno, just felt like it came out of nowhere. Plus, the original Daniels actor is very much still alive and would look age appropriate for the part. I would much rather have had a quick cameo where after Burnham leaves the infinity room we see kovich talk to or even report to the original Daniels actor. But that's just me. If there had been more clues setting it up then I would've liked it more. But hey, it looks like lots of people did like it so I may very well be in the minority.

171 would not be out of the question for Kovich/Daniels. Beta canon has McCoy living up until the Dominion war. He was 137 in Farpoint. Daniels is from the future and it's not like Chronenburg looks young. I'm sure with really good AI driven medicine from the future could have humans living up to 200 years in a thousand years easily. It was a strange thing to add to the Discovery finale though. The original guy that played Daniels probably doesn't look old enough but they should have had him as a cameo. He's probably not even acting and doing a real job like Keagan DeLancie. Hey there's a list for y'all Trek actors who got real jobs. A documentary called the Green Girl was about Susan Oliver who got a few jobs after Trek. There's got to be a bunch. Even Wheaton did things like a KZbin channel about tabletop games. KZbin video production is a real job, right?

When it comes to Trek lore, drawing from the novels is like using Wikipedia to write an academic paper. They're not canon, little more than fan fiction, so they aren't reliable sources of information. For all the careful work they put into their articles, I would have thought the TrekCulture writers would be more aware of that. They seem to use quite a lot of extracanonical stuff to fill in the gaps.

Great segment, but it reminds me that so much of Discovery involves missed opportunities and bad implementation. Retconning Kovich into Daniels felt like a last minute idea in the writers' room.
