I’ll watch it, and try to keep an open mind, but after Discovery, I have very low expectations.

I’ve said before that I’m fully onboard with Alex Kurtzman’s plan to keep each new Trek different to what has happened before. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a lifelong, “card-carrying” Trekkie who grew up with TNG, DS9 etc. I absolutely love the usual “Starfleet crew on a starship, exploring strange new worlds” format of most Trek. I’m very much behind the campaigns to get Legacy made, more Prodigy, more Lower Decks etc. But, at the same time, I want more completely new stuff which is different to everything else. Other franchises like “Star Wars” have had very mixed results BOTH from churning out the same old “Jedi/lightsaber stuff” and completely new and different stuff. Maybe “Section 31” will be amazing and maybe it won’t. But, I have absolute faith in the project and everyone who’s involved in it. At the end of the day, it’s “Star Trek” and so I’m very excited to watch it.

I'm so torn because I like a lot of the actors that will be in this & I thought the trailer was fine but there's been this big push in the last decade or so to make organizations that are good into morally ambiguous to downright bad groups instead. And I'm just... tired of it. First was the Jedi and now it's Starfleet. Like, there have always been rotten apples in both organizations but the stories came from trying to root those elements out and the struggle to maintain higher guiding principles in the face of situations where it would be easy to take the "down and dirty" way instead. So now to see a movie that seems poised to be about how cool the worst elements of Starfleet are... I'm not loving it. Especially when it's headed by a former genocidal dictator who ATE innocent people, who we're supposed to feel warm fuzzies about for some reason? I love me some Michelle Yeoh and it seems like she was really excited for this project to go forward, but ffs this movie definitely has an uphill battle to win me over just from the premise alone.

If it’s anything like the Streaming sh*t (Picard excepted) and the abomination that is the JJ Abrams rubbish - then yes, we will!

If it's good, it's good, but nothing I've seen about it has sparked any desire to see it. In fact, a lot of the S31 and Starlet Academy material feels like it's going to be insulting to my intelligence.... And "This is not the Star Trek people want" doesn't do much to improve my disdain. I just want Star Trek Legacy. No more games, no more stupid fee fee Discovery spinoffs, no more animated kids shows, no more horses of different colors. I just. want. Star Trek. Captain, Crew, Ship, New Species, New Worlds, Unserialized, Star Trek. Don't need flashes and bangs and CGI bonanzas, or fast paced excitement. I don't watch Star Trek for excitement. I watch it for nerd shit. Practical effects and touching stories and to have hope for a future that looks bleaker and bleaker with every passing second. It seems Paramount just doesn't get that and just keeps shoveling out cookie cutter mass market bullshit.

In all honesty, the trailer looks bad. It doesn't look like Star Trek. I'll watch it, but I'm not excited about it in any way.

Trek Culture coping for the movie no one wanted or asked for, because they know the unspoken truth everyone else in the world knows: This is an Alex Kurtzman vanity project that he couldn't get green-lit until the company was in turmoil and for sale, and this movie has a 9/10 chance of "flopping", or whatever the streaming equivalent of that is, the numbers will never be released.

I've watched Star Trek fan since TOS first aired in 1966 when I was five years old, though admittedly I preferred Lost in Space initially. It wasn't until it went into re-runs in 1970 that I truly became a fan. So I've watched every episode of every Star Trek show since, including Discovery. I tried to like Discovery, I really did. But It never felt like Star Trek to me for a variety of reasons. So I will watch Section 31 and do my best to keep an open mind.The trailer doesn't inspire confidence.

Wow, talk about the excuses started to be prepared. It's pretty obvious that even Sean is struggling to get on board here... It's all superfluous blowing smoke up the actors and not about the show itself. No matter how good an actor is or how they suffer for their craft, if its not the "show" the fans will appreciate, it's not going down well. You could have had Patrick Stewart and Tom Hanks in Batttlefield Earth, it wouldn't have made it good.

TLDR: this entire video screams DAMAGE CONTROL! DAMAGE CONTROL!
@scoutiii889343 минут бұрын
I know this channel is an absolute shill site for Paramount and secret hideout, but Sean- you sound so desperate for people to watch what’s going to be the most forgettable 90 minutes ever produced lol. The more you talk, the more it screams “damage control!” Why not have more confidence in this made for TV movie? It’s because it’s going to suck, anyone with a brain knows it’s going to suck and no one is going to watch it… Myself included. Kurtzman needs to get the message that his ideas are and have always been, awful.

I entirely agree with Sean. Also I don't care about the fandom and their toxicity. If it's good it's good, if it's bad it's bad. Ultimately it is just entertainment, there are more important things in life, than a pop culture movie, but sadly, fans behave like zealots, no matter what.

I know this site is an absolute shell site for Paramount and secret hideout, but this is more damage control for this made for TV movie that nobody wants. I know a lot of you discovery fans, want this, but trust me when I say, the majority of Star Trek fans will not even watch this when it debuts. I know I won’t. But Sean, you keep right on chilling for your corporate overlords… It comes across as disingenuous as one would imagine

I have zero intention of watching Sec 31. I often have said Discovery killed Star Trek, that is incorrect, it did bring it back. But it was bad. Disco struggled out of the gate and even though I liked the later seasons, it was not enough to keep it going. Hence why it was cancelled. Section 31 went from a cool secret in DS9 and a hint in ENT to being a thing basically something everyone knew about. I try not to judge a movie based off a trailer but this is something I can't bring myself to watch. Even with the amazing Michelle Yeoh, it wont do well. When Strange New Worlds came out, that was hitting the nail on the head. Star Trek Picard S3 was another smash hit. But Lower Decks and Disco were cancelled, not 'ended' like TNG, DS9 or VOY. You don't use the world 'cancel' when shows are doing well with fans. Especially with rumors swirling Disco isn't even canon anymore, that says enough. And no one is refuting said rumors.

How is the Black man the SECOND WORST Captain in Starfleet!?! Ain't no way. He was unknown and out smarted of course by a genetic genius. Plus captains taking the first officer (and even the entire senior staff at times) to a planet was common practice and wasn't changed until The Next Generation to protect the captain-command structure)That captain on Voyager, Rudolph Ransom, was using beings as SLAVES to power his ship is OUTRAGEOUS. Furthermore Janeway should be on this list! (1)Stranding her crew into the delta quadrant by (2)violating the Prime Directive, (3)which would take them 70 years to get home! And along the way (4)cheating for short cuts to get home earlier! (5)She killed a Black being-Tuvik! And I can go on!

Looks fun. Been a Star Trek fan since I was a kid in the 60’s. Tired of crabby gatekeeper meltdowns. Perhaps they should purchase a studio and the franchise and then their opinions would hold more weight. The rest of us will be fine if they don’t watch.

I won't tolerate Harriman slander. The Man was handed a less than half working ship do to a publicity stunt and went to save lives because it was the right thing to do. He showed extreme poise considering he was under the microscope of the press...something no other Captain that we had seen has had to deal with. He did his ship and crew proud.

It's a trope that's been over-done in my opinion, much like with the go-to baddie of the Borg, and various time travel episodes & films, the appearance of S31 was a curious thing in DS9 and to an extent in Enterprise, but, this over-glorification of a clandestine "we don't exist" organisation dressed up to look like one of those comicbook movies crossed with one of the more dodgy James Bond films, I'm one of those trekkies who is going to give it a miss... :\
