I thought the casting was good. But I thought it was a Star Trek movie for people who didn't like Star Trek. It was pretty clear that Abrams was a bigger Star Wars fan.

R2D2 also makes a cameo in this movie when the Enterprise is late to warping to Vulcan.

You referenced the Kobayashi Maru, but missed the connection of Kirk eating the apple, in the same way he did in Wrath of Khan while saying that he didn't like to lose...

I really like the Kelvin movies. Sure them aren't perfect but i do think that they should use this universe like Marvel did with the Ultimate universe. They could use to tell/reimagine stories that they couldn't tell in the prime timeline. Like Kirk meeting with the Borg or the Dominion. And i also it come back and if i been honest. If they will ever came back to that what i would like to see is a Kelvin TNG reboot. Now that all the TNG characters got their end in Picard season 3 i think they could use this as an opportunity to restart fresh making a TNG reboot set 100 years after ST: Beyond. Also counting the fact that Pine, Urban, Quinto etc... were pretty busy and cost a lot they probably need to go on another way. So they could easily go with a Next Generation reboot and maybe with a guest apparance of Pine and others in a future movie.

Check out the comics! The Kelvin timeline really gets fleshed out and tells stories between and after the movies

I saw this movie at the Australian premiere at the Sydney Opera House. It was a surreal experience to see it at such an iconic location with the director and the cast. After it was over I remember thinking I just saw the greatest Trek movie ever made lol. Today my feelings for both the movie and the Kelvin universe are a lot more mixed. Fun and decent movie but I think it was too light on story and built up on action which most movies like this are. I think Beyond was the best one (less said about STID the better) but I think both old and new fans lost interest in these movies once the curiosity factor was gone and it was the same formula of a villain wanting revenge. It's not a surprise we haven't gotten another one 7 years later and counting.

It was fine for the time, but it was Trek for the uneducated popcorn shoving masses. The failure was not capitalizing on this new timeline. New stories could be told without canon nitpickers like me getting my knickers in a bunch. Into Darkness makes Nemesis look like a good, original movie. Beyond was good, but. Pine himself has said they should just make a Trek film for Trekkies. Wars has appeal because it's dumbed down good vs evil. Trek usually has more nuance.

Please do a star trek into darkness video. Personally I think into darkness was a way better movie than the first. And Benedict Cumberbatch betrayal of Khan was incredible.

Sorry, but I love all Star Trek movies. Hard core Trekkie, I love anything Star Trek with the exception of the newer cartoons, just prefer live action.

I love star trek but these JJ Abrams movies are really bad. The first one was mid and the other two are just horrible. I am glad that most of Trek has since ignored this series of movies. Sure there are tiny bits of new-trek fans like yourself that seem to think this is great, but you are such in a minority. Thank goodness.

Pine was born to play Kirk. He was great. Although Quinto was really good on Hero’s , but he was not a good Spock. Simon was great as Scotty, and Karl was perfect as Bones. But… Zoe is a terrible actress 🤢

Totally disagree. Quinto made a great Spock.

nope don't like most of the story , fking hate this Kirk, he is this lame overrated rebel and absolutely hyper hate the destruction of Vulcan. the Khan reboot was uber crap. and barely remember the 3rd

It's largely another stupid action movie. This one has a bit more character development but it's dispensed with quickly and then it's on to the non-stop action like any other stupid transformers movie. I'm not sure why people are interested in Easter eggs.
