Great review as always, Bll, thanks! Note: the Intelligence officer role ability is on page 180 of the Player's Guide or page 39 of the Command book. We ran out of room to reprint it in this book; apologies for the omission, everyone.

Thanks, Jim! I'll see if I can find a way to add that into the video!

I don't care for a lot the elements of Discovery, but it's all part of the Trek tapestry. Reading the Disco sourcebook actually provided some useful and thought-provoking ideas about the events of the series. I've just discovered your channel, but I'm looking forward to your continued coverage of STA.

That’s exactly how I felt about the book. Gave me so many good ideas to work into my campaign and were nowhere near the Discovery era. Thanks for watching and commenting!

My opinion of STD is not very high, but your review has convinced me this book is worth looking into. Looks like I could use this to run a game set during the 4 Year War, which I do not think is "cannon" Star Trek, but it is (was?) in the same era. Great video, keep it up.

All you have to do is rename the assets and tweak the missions to suit whatever war you're interested in and I think it should run smoothly. It's really an interesting new layer to add on to STA games!

Definitely a great resource for the war and an excellent new style of playing if you’re going a war campaign.

I liked your soapbox. As you noted, there are some who will hate on the book simply because they associate it with DISCO. I’m glad to know that it’s worthwhile as an addition to my collection no matter my feelings about ST:D. Thanks for the review.

Thanks for watching! I definitely felt the comment needed to be made as there are still a good number of people expressing their displeasure with this product simply because of the association with Discovery and d not actually seeing what the book actually contains. As I said, I was being that stubborn back when the first Discovery campaign book was released and I feel foolish now after seeing how great it is for STA. I just want other players to realize they should trust in the fact this is STA and not Discovery, or any other series for that matter. If you are a fan of STA, you already know the quality inside this book. People shouldn’t get hung up on a single word in the title when the material for the entire STA line can be used or adapted to any setting and time period..

Thanks for the review. I'm totally enamored with the rules concepts presented, but deeply disappointed in the chosen setting/era. I'll likely wait to get this at my local store and not pre-order because I'm just... yeah. Thanks again for all the time you spent reviewing.

As I said in the video, I understand where you're coming from. I had those same feelings and just complete lack of interest when the first Discovery book was announced. I went quite a while before I picked it up and it was thanks to hearing it being discussed on Continuing Conversations. It was refreshing to hear that even some of the writers on the book were not fans of Discovery at the time. It helped me to push my own negative feelings about it into the background and get the book for the STA content, not for it's associate with the TV series. I wasn't very far into the book before I started to feel the shame of my stubbornness forcing a conclusion on me without hands-on experience. The book was damn good. I feel this book is exactly the same and introduces so much new into the STA system that it's a great addition to the lineup. It just stinks that the association with Discovery is causing others to make the same mistake that I did with the first book. I'm glad you say you will be giving it a chance, even though you're not too enthusiastic about it. I'm sure you'll see its value once you get it in your hands. The writers put so much love and effort into these books they don't deserve to be judged based on a separate work they had nothing to do with.

@@MichaelDismukeGMThanks, Michael. It was your comments on Continuing Conversations that shook me out of my blind stubborn attitude and encouraged me to not only get the first Discovery campaign but also give the series another try.

Discovery triggers InCels because it's the only Trek show aimed at 21st century ADULTS rather than the 14-year-old losers from the 90s who are now today's 45-year-old InCels.

The Dominion War: a desperate attempt by bad writers to save two failing shows. And it makes a total farce of the "positive Utopia" circle jerk.
