This was so difficult - trying to pick a favourite Star Trek captain is hard!
A genuine mix of opinions here with some captains ranking low on some lists but high on others.

Interesting! It would have fascinating if they'd repeated that survey a few years later, at that point DS9 had only been out 3 years and hadn't yet reached peak Sisko!

Enjoyed this! My complaint with Picard is while he is a moral captain, his almost dogmatic belief in the Prime Directive makes him a bureaucrat in a lot of ways. He is a company man. I’ll never forget him watching a planet and civilization die, say some flowery words and then walk off to his ready room. Like “Our job sucks, better go have a cup of tea.”

Picard was the finest Starfleet captain when Starfleet was at its finest. Sisko was starfleet's finest Captain when Starfleet was at its worst. Every Star Trek show after Enterprise is dead to me.

Oof! Harsh words! To be honest, you'll not hear too much love for Disco or the first 2 seasons of Picard in the Shuttlebay4 chats, BUT - some do enjoy the and that's great. I'm not a Disco fan myself but there are some aspects of it I enjoy, and I loved the episode New Eden.

I like some of SNW, a lot actually. Season 3 do Picard is really good. Disco is just hard to watch.
