I wonder if this is basically the actual scene we see in the episode. As it plays out, we see Kirk and Spock conversing but what the audience hears is a voiceover “Captain’s log” report by Kirk, finishing just as McCoy shouts “Captain! Over There!”

Correct! I was thinking the same thing.

Interesting snippet from one of my favorite episodes. It was always a compelling mystery how hissing lizard people were able to so cleverly fake a message from the base commander in such detail, even addressing Kirk by name and requesting his tacticians.

Star Trek had excellent editing, I can see why they excised many of these scenes they just weren't necessary

It confused me when I first saw this as a child how one minute they were having a nice chat with the Cestus III commander on the intercom but then beamed down to fine the base was blown up.

You can see why most of these were cut. They add little, or are redundant, or use too many words to say things that could be said in a more succinct manner. Keep posting these.

Yes, but they're still fun to watch.

@@Cmdr1962 I agree, but two things can be true at the same time.

This scene is in the episode though, with a Shatner voiceover (“Captain’s log”)

As long as they didn't sit at the table eating Gorn Flakes together, of course 🥣😅

Hmmm, hoping to someday see if the deleted scene from the Gorn bridge is preserved.

Always wondered and found it strange that the Gorn used "Jim" in their invitation. And how did they ever master sewing those uniforms together and master space travel...guess they were just very slow in their mobility, not dumb.

Lady Gorn fashion and fabrics supplied their outfits. Aa you know, Gornettes have finer fingers suited to detailed work. 🦎

I like some of these, but this one is pretty weak. Nothing to see here.

Hmmm. The entire compound's been destroyed. Better stand up straight and talk about it, just to be sure.
