Am so glad that a live-action adaptation of the initial voyage of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 under the command of Captain Robert M. April has FINALLY been produced and released! I love it! This recent era has been a very good one for classic, traditional Star Trek! Let's hope that this motion picture can serve as a pilot for an all-new series that centers on the first five-year mission of the USS Enterprise because this is the type of material that Star Trek enthusiasts have been awaiting for over half a century! Here's to FINAL FRONTIER! 🙂 P. S. It was also good to watch the USS Constitution (the first of the Constitution Class starships) in action!

@Discodoggie True, Kirk did speak of how Pike and others had to see hundreds die due to accidents with basic systems that were now used without though or hesitation of what would or could happen if they failed. Engines exploding, crashes during docking, hulls collapsing from rapid pressure loss, plauges, people burning alive in space, finding dead crews or outposts, etc. "Nasty stuff, Jim. I don't envy Your new job as Captain. Sometimes New Life might be better left undiscovered until we are ready for it." - Pike "Sir, I'm not sure we ever will be. I'm only 20 minutes into this and love it. Someone commented what these people could do with a CBS budget. Why doesn't CBS stop working so hard to rewrite Trek and hire some of these people that are essentially working for free out of their homes pouring their hearts into these films. You could probably make a series or movie for half as much and be twice as profitable. There's a whole community out there waiting to pay to see real Trek again. Episodes that have depth and not just big action sequences with forgettable characters. Different series that build on each other and grow new characters and stories that are memorable (The Drumhead comes to mind).

@Tony Lewis The agreement was between CBS and the makers of Axanar to avoid going to court. CBS said this applied to all fan films. But up until now no one has called them out. The people from CBS who brought the lawsuit are gone now because of the failure of STD and STP. The worse that can happen is CBS takes them to court. But CBS would have to claim that they are suffering a loss or that the makers of First Frontier are profiting off Star Trek. In the case of Axanar, they used private funding to build sets and a sound stage. Then they rented use of that sound stage for other productions. Technically they were profiting off Star Trek. But in their defense they were trying to raise money to off set the costs of producing Axanar. I don't think CBS is going to rock the boat on this one. But it will be interesting to see how all of this plays out.

They were in different colors! The best part about this is that they didn’t make the tech better than they had on TOS. Technology jumps drive me crazy. Oh. And the ‘monsters’ actually look like TOS monsters. No added slime like in the Alien movies.

After the recent passing of Nichelle Nichols it's so good to hear her make the opening "Space" narrative and listening to her voice brings back memories of her time with William Shatner and the rest of tge stars on the original "Star Trek" and her narrative just fits with this movie like a glove and I'm really gonna miss her!!!!!!!!!!! I've just had the pleasure of discovering Star Trek: First Frontier. As a long-time Trekkie, I was blown away by this film's dedication to the spirit and feel of The Original Series (TOS). The director has done an exemplary job in crafting a movie that pays loving homage to the foundation of the Star Trek franchise. One of the standout aspects of First Frontier is its character development, particularly Captain April. His journey as a starship captain mirrors the signature evolution we've come to expect from TOS heroes, making him feel like a true part of the Trek pantheon. The cast's commitment to their roles is evident, bringing depth and authenticity to the story. The script is top-notch, weaving together elements that would feel right at home in any official Star Trek production. In fact, it's remarkable how seamlessly First Frontier sheds its "fan-made" label and becomes a fully-fledged Star Trek adventure. This is no small feat, especially considering the challenges of working within the established TOS canon. What also sets First Frontier apart, however, is its dedication to the ideals that define the Star Trek universe. The film celebrates diversity, societal evolution, and the unbridled enthusiasm for exploration that drives humanity forward. I think these core principles are what make Star Trek so beloved by fans worldwide, and First Frontier embodies them. True Trekkies who value the optimistic vision of the future and the importance of knowledge-sharing as well as knowledge-seeking, then Star Trek: First Frontier is an absolute must-watch. It's a shining example of what can be achieved when passion and creativity come together.

This movie captures the heart of what made Star Trek: The Original Series so good, updating the human mindset 50 years or so, to make a really compelling story. While I get attempting to be true to the original show, The Next Generation really got it right sending the first officer, rather than the captain, into harm's way. It would have been nice to make that correction. The technology, of course, is limited, but that is not nearly as important as getting the screenplay right. Bravo for an unbelievably good job for a FanFiction effort. If nothing else, maybe it will help inspire better future productions. For now, it is just pure joy to watch. Excellent!

A few comments: - THAT was a darn good story--as good and often better than what the so-called "professionals" are making these days. - It may look "dated" with TOS-style sets, but so what...the characters and plot make the story. Hollywood has the misconception that SciFi means lots of special effects. - The story left me with a smile on my face, and wanting more (part 2?) - The actress playing Sarah April is a smoking hot babe (and a darn good actress, too). ;-) "Are you going to watch me work, or go captain the ship?"
@kennysmith42454 жыл бұрын
LOL awesome! Your comment made me laugh in a good way! Tara Ochs is one of the blessings of this movie. If the story left a smile on your face, then I've accomplished my mission and that is the truth. I simply wanted to give everyone a feeling of Hope. I didn't know when we shot this that they would need that feeling of hope so much, it seems like today's world has gotten really ugly, but Star Trek always seems to be there when we need hope. I feel like the film made itself. I love that line also, about watching her work or going to Captain the ship LOL. She is simply awesome. Robert and Tara's chemistry is off the charts. I sincerely am glad that you enjoyed the movie. Thank you for your kind words.

I agree, for the most part, what Lewis said above. LTs Lyra and Tai would send me into warp speed any day of the week!! They are HOT!! I know your budget is limited, but I found that some of the ambient sound ( ships functions, medical equipment and other things ) almost overwhelmed the dialog of what was going on. Some characters would be louder the others in the same scene, made me recoil in surprise. At about the 8:30 minute mark, PSD was used, I'm sure it would be called something else in that century. The plot was good ( I enjoyed it ). Hope you can use the same characters in your next venture!, my two cents.

Since then, it has been my fortune to view every series and movie produced commercially. Along with countless fan films and shorts. This film is one of the best immersions into the TrekVerse a fan can experience. You bring the wonder, excitement and - lets face it - the nerd factor that Gene gave us in TOS. Never let a studio convince you to work for them unless they are 100% willing to give you every bit of artistic freedom you need to make things like this. As a Star Trek fan every since the late 60's I enjoyed this Movie immensely. It really has the feel of the original Star Trek series. I only have one gripe with this movie and that is the sound level variance between the characters speaking and the special effects. When listening through an amplified surround sound system and setting the volume for the characters, then a special effect like a explosion happens and the volume of it makes you jump out of your skin. It's very fun to watch the kids jump when that happens but I'm not sure that the neighbors feel the same.

Put the focus where it should have been all along. where it once was. And where it should be going forward. The focus should be on good stories. The focus should be on the fans. The focus should be staying true to the source materials.The focus for Star Trek should be on the utopian future that it’s creator envisioned. We may never reach that. But we should strive for it. Live long and prosper.

Dickum N Lickum the V: Emperor Of KZbin. Unless what the fans want is a good story. With well rounded and written characters. Characters with depth and reality. Not characters like Rey or Michael Burnham. Each character is either from Star Wars or Star Trek and are both shallow, not well written, bad characters. With Star Trek and the so-called offerings that are out there are just not what the franchise was based on. I know franchises grow and change over the years. Unfortunately Star Trek and Star Wars both have changed but not for the better. An example of a show/movie that has done it right is cobra Kai. Based on and containing Some of the original characters from the karate kid. This is a show that’s done well. It stays true to its source material. It respects his source material while at the same time introducing new characters and building on the narrative of the story. He has a good story writing. Good actress, and is done extremely well. Star Trek and Star Wars both can learn from this show.

The fact this video already has over twice as many views as the Star Trek day panels... I'm laughing. But they won't get it.

That was amazingly done well. thoroughly enjoyed this film. Acting was great, and I love how they took a section of starfleet history and explored it. My only regret is that I have just one like to give.

There are so many stories and character, situations, areas that were left behind when they jumped from 23rd to 24th centuries. Same is true with the 24th century, TNG was the Federations' frontlines (by no means the only one); DS9 was the actual frontier (not the only one); I like Voyager- I'll say that outright, in part because it started in Picard/Sisko period and ended in it but explored another ship/crew on 'the Federation side' while expanding which TNG and DS9 did only parts of. Enterprise I also liked, because like Voyager it both expanded (in a new way) and took a point in Star Trek history and focused on it. And what makes "Star Trek" Star Trek is what it was- what it was couldn't be what it became now (whatever you think of nu trek as some call it) without the fans. They are what keep it alive.

Considering the fact that this is an independent film made by fans for fans I have nothing but admiration for the work that has gone into making this film, and despite the little glitches in sound and some of the visual effects I think it is a absolutely fantastic film, thank you so much for sharing your work with us all. 😀👍🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧🇺🇦🇮🇱🇨🇦🇦🇺 Not being a super fan of Star Trek (don’t get me wrong I love Star Trek, I just don’t class my self as a super fan) I am wondering why Captain April has a different logo on his shirt to everyone else????, his appears to be some kind a Star or flower while everyone else has the Star Fleet emblem that is the one that is in every other Star Trek film or tv show that I can remember, and I watched Star Trek, the original series, when it was first aired on United Kingdom 🇬🇧 tv 📺, a lot of years ago, not long before I joined the RAF, just a pity we didn’t have starships back then.

Some of the early Trek lore has each ship with a unique insignia. As Enterprise was the only original Constitution class ship to survive, The Federation adopted the Enterprise logo as the new Federation logo.
