I feel like we read two different rulebooks. They don't discourage you from choosing your crew. They recommend you go by rank number for your first time playing, then recommend that you should have at least a captain and doctor in future games for greatest chance of success. These are just recommendations. And Although you make it sound like the rules don't want you to mix generations, they in fact have variant rules in the back on how to setup the game different if you wish to mix & match crew from the different series.

Okay I played this game for the first time today at my local gaming club. We played a 5 player game, and played twice. I will say I am also someone who likes and enjoys Roll For It. I really enjoyed this game a lot. I think it had all the simplicity of Roll For it but had a nice Co-op dimension which I thought was god as well. Our two games lasted about an hour for the both. We failed the first one and won the second. I get that people might not like this game but I enjoyed it enough that I am now looking to acquire it.

Check Target, they have them on clearance for about $9. I picked up 2 copies last weekend.

Tom didn't point it out, but as a huge Trek fan myself, I have to say that the Blue Alert cards don't use the correct color. Blue is used in Voyager when the ship lands on a planet. The correct color for standing down from an alert is Condition:Green. Not Blue. That alone turns me off of this game, as the developers didn't know enough canon for which color to use.

I just saw something in the rule book that said if anyone needs to leave or you want to pick up a new player, you can do so without starting over. Good thing you can play up to 7 people :)

Fyi the rules say to play with the numbers corresponding to the number of players for the learning game only then pick who you want

You said it yourself that you can heal, or you can heal the enterprise. You should also be taking part in other players turns offering advice and working together. There are times in MArvel LEgendary when I have been unable todo something, but I take part in other players tuns and we are still working together.

+Bob Bateman but if every player's turn turns into a debate, the game will be even longer! :O And then you might as well play a coop where you actually _can_ make decisions.

I disagree on the length of a 7 player game. We play with out Star Trek fan club and have a blast.

Our game group just played this last night and wow, we were totally unimpressed. Tom is right, it's basically just roll dice and see what happens 🤨

I played a demo copy at WBC in August and enjoyed it. My only problem is the price point. I think the game is fun, but just not at that price point.

I played this at Essen and I have to agree with Tom, it really was not fun to play. I played with 4 players and even after the rules where explained and we ran with so to speak it felt slow; I was expecting it to be close to King of Tokyo / Roll for It in terms of turn length and although it is only slightly longer, it was felt noticeably longer. The theme is barely papered on top of it - you could replace it very easily with anything else and it would be the same game. I also thought the quality of the cards was poor compared to Roll for It / King of Tokyo. My main issue with it though is that their is barely more of game than King of Tokyo / Roll for It in the box, but it's suggested play time is 15 mins more, which moves it from a quick filler in between setting up two longer games, to something more substantial which it sadly isn't filled out enough to be. I wanted to like, but I really didn't. I'm not sure how many people will look at this as a game / genre cross over they like - Star Trek and Co-Op but to anyone that is; I'd suggest you look at a game called 'The Captain is Dead' and pretend the generic starship crew cards are Trek crew members.

Definitely looks like Roll For It would be more fun to play than this. It is streamlined and quicker... and kids love it.

Also, there is quite frequently something to do with the special abilities. It isn't the best Star Trek game but the complaints are just wrong to me.

Is it just me, or do these components look plain and unattractive? Ordinary d6 on top of boring printed components. Totally pasted on theme. Mayfair really isn't impressing me on any front. This is 2015--not sure why a game like this would be made today.

This game suuuucked. We played it twice. First time wasn't fun but we figured maybe we missed something so we'd try again. Second time was even more boring and we put it away forever. There is as much meaningful decision making here as the Star Trek Uno game.

I think you may be taking the comment too seriously. Though it is kind of funny because Star Trek was originally so profound because of how it was so inclusive to different racial identities and cultures.
