It actually makes perfect sense that Spock was able to call the Life Entity. He's not just a Vulcan, but half human, too. That means, as we've seen many times before, that he's not truly emotionless, just that he's worked to suppress and control his emotions. He's probably the only person who could so easily command all the rings, since he has such near-perfect control of his own emotions. The comic even hints at it for people who've read Blackest Night, too, in that someone who truly feels nothing around the Black Lanterns is invisible to them (like Scarecrow), but Spock was still being targeted by his mother.

I actually went through the "A Piece of the World is Still Missing" word jumble scene. Those two other sentences are legit just rearrangements of the same letters, and all three spell out ominous messages. Well *done*, Linkara! Well done!

Seeing Spock as being the one that can control all emotions, its actually... it makes sense. As a kid, i would be all "oh, cool!", but now, as an adult, it really makes sense. he's not devoid of emotions, as we saw in the first movie, and back then he could get controlled by them. In Into Darkness (which i liked, dunno why no one else), we can see that he can use them, as he used rage to face Kahn. So... yeah, it really makes sense for him to be able to control all rings.

Exactly; it's explained, not only in the new film series, but also in TOS, that the reason Vulcans suppress their emotions is because they feel more deeply than other species, and if they don't learn to control their emotions, their emotions can overcome and control them.

I also fail to understand why people have a problem with Into Darkness, or try to say the first film is better, when it is not by any means. The main thing that bugs me is that, even for Star Trek, that Red Matter might as well be called Sharkjumpium. I mean, seriously?! But, also, Into Darkness just has a much more emotional story. It's just... Better.

Eric Cornett It's probably because it's really a not-as-good version of The Wrath of Kahn. Even as a non-fan of the series, I have to admit Star Trek II was *really* good; and Into Darkness tried to tell an alternate version of the same story, kinda falling flat, by comparison.

I honestly love this idea, and it seems like the execution came through pretty well. I think Linkara said it best: "popcorn flick". It's not trying to teach a lesson, and it doesn't really have a moral. It's just exploring the idea of the Lanterns crossing over into the Trek universe and how it might go down. And I believe it succeeds at that, in an entertaining way. Kudos.

It is quite possible that the Gorn Hegemony Prince was motivated by a jealous rage like that one younger prince in the Green Lantern: The Animated Series episode where Hal and Kilowag meet a queen who's also a Lantern. His jealous fury drove him to attempt to kill sister and steal her power-ring. His frustration and contempt for his lot in life is what drew the Red Ring to him and he did join Atrocitus's Corp

Oh my. Seeing Comicron One crash like that... it's both sad and chilling. It's been such a big part of Atop the Fourth Wall, and now that it's gone it feels... like a part of the world is missing. This part of this arc was probably the most mysterious. No one really knew what would end up happening, who was the villain, and of course, how this connected to the two greatest villains in the show, although I'm hopeful we get to see some interesting characters in this new arc that end up returning more than once.

Comicron One shall be missed :,-( Still, that cliffhanger was great, and the effects were amazing! My theory is similar to one I've read in many other comments, that the Entity is in Linkara. However, I kinda think that there's more to it than that- I wonder if it might be a situation like that of the characters in Michael Crichton's :Sphere," where the danger is manifested by the characters themselves without realizing it- in other words, that while the Entity may no longer live, a piece of it remains in Linkara, but it is dormant until Linkara starts to panic and think that the Entity has returned and will create havoc...and thus CREATES the Entity- or at least the danger that would be posed if the Entity truly did return. That would explain why the King of Worms reacted so severely to Linkara- because the piece of the Entity in Linkara's mind was enough to destroy the King by reflex alone, or something to that effect. It's just a theory, probably not correct, but it does seem to fit SOME of the facts. And it would in part explain why 90's Kid and Vyce are working together- Vyce wants to destroy the Entity and everything related to it, and 90's kid, who has experience with the Entity and knows how it can corrupt, is working with him to remove it or it's remnants from Linkara's mind. That's my theory anyhow. Also- LOVED the cross-section of Comicron One!

It's very fitting that to end AT4W's celebration of Star Trek's 50th anniversary, that he should end on a comic related to the Kelven timeline of Star Trek's reboot trilogy of films. As I said back in Linkara's review of Deep Space 9's first comic, the 2009 Star Trek film is what got me into the franchise when I was a kid. Since then, I have grown to like (or at least acknowledge and respect) all of the various shows and movies. Cheers Star Trek🍾🍷!!! Here's to the next 50 years.

Awesome! Was really glad I got up early so I could see this! Plus it was a neat tie-in to your story arc, the return of a great evil long thought dead. A minor detail, but in the opening of Blackest Night, Nekron DID resurrect a planet, Xanshi, to screw with Jon Stewart who had tried and failed to save the planet.

Should have subscribed a LOOOOOOOONG time ago. S'up, Lewis. Hope all is well in the present day. Honestly, I blame the GL animated series for introducing me to my favorite Lantern, and my bias of feeling he was wasted in this story: Agent Orange, Larfleeze, the One and Only holder of the Orange Ring of Avarice. I looked up so much about this character it's both funny and sad. His dumb solo book in the New 52, his Christmas comic which ends with him, convinced by Hal, trimming down his Christmas list until we get the thing he really wants... His Family. He can have it, take it all, but those are objects. People are unique. His family was unique. And I loved just how menacing he started out as before he was taken in a more comical direction... which was great, too. 15:47 That's one thing that's always bothered me about crossovers: Character not recognizing that the new universe they're in is from a show they MUST have. Example: We know Star Trek is a show in the Doctor Who universe since characters have referenced it (giving the Doctor the nickname "Spock"), but in the crossover comic (IIRC) no one mentioned that. My theory: in those universes the characters just watch similar shows (like "Space Trek" or something), and it's just translated as Star Trek for the audience's benefit. That explains how Hal Jordan can have never heard of James T. Kirk and yet might make a Star Trek reference in another comic: he's really talking about the DC Universe's alternate version of Star Trek where the names and details change.
