For a low budget show, that computer room is a pretty good prop set.

Gotta love that Spock uses what appears to be a pocket full of 3 1/2 inch floppy disks with a WAV or MP3 file on each. Early 90s tech looks futuristic from a 60s viewpoint. OTOH, fumbling around with micro SD cards would be awkward while swatting away the technician.

It wasn't a low budget show, the show was so expensive that it nearly bankrupted Desilu studios and Lucy was forced to sell the studio to Paramount.

I actually miss the old set and effects. TNG and on used the special effects as cheap props to lame plots a lot of times. I also miss the 'low budget's Romulan disrupters. THG lazily used green phasers. Boring!

If I were in that Chief's situation, I would have run to a comm terminal to alert others. Not too bright of him to physically confront a Vulcan by himself.

@@LordTalax Fair enough, and that was probably the predictable outcome, but at least it was something better than bumping a suspicious meddler as if he were supposed to change his mind and play elsewhere. If what you are doing wouldn't work on a human, why to think it would on a Vulcan. But, yes, calling for reinforcement on the top of his own resistence efforts would have been the best course of action.

Anybody notice that this is the engenering section redress? By that, you will notice the console Spock was working on, and the area whare he was at speaking to the bridge personnel, and the goose neck communications scoop. In the background, the full panneled area that you see in Space Seed, as well as Court Marshall. In the second and third season, that full panneled area was separated into two sections with a stairway steps going into a upper portion area of engenering. Still, though, The Original Star Trek Series is the only BEST STAR TREK OUT THERE, nothing better!

Vulcans don't lie (note: don't not can't). They do however exaggerate, misdirect, deflect, dance around the issue, play with wording, find loopholes, create loopholes, mislead, and otherwise deceive quite frequently (at least, Spock does). Some people might call this inconsistency, however I see it as an example of the ways that follows of a philosophy (basically any philosophy, regardless of it's relative merit) will find ways to 'cheat' and the near ubiquitousness of hypocrisy. Not a bug, but a feature. Seriously; it's a neat and dynamic aspect of the character (not even, necessarily, a flaw).

Sadly the first three movies borrowed heavily from episodes, with this one inspiring some of Star Trek III. However, they used fake drama in that one by parking the Enterprise inside. If they hadn't, the captain of Excelsior would be informed, "The Enterprise is warping out of orbit."

Seriously, guys, will you just bump each other across the room? Are you fighting for the next turn on the videogame or at the swing? If only Spock knew a way to knock people out without lasting harm... Or if humans had fists... Then, the guy would be able to try to fight off intruding Spock. Or naybe communicators. People maje much of New Trek less than stellar (pun intended) Star Fleet, but Kirk-era Star Fleet's security was nothing to write home about.

@@LordTalax After trying everything else from arguing with a suspicious meddler to bump him away as if he were a kid supposed to change his mind and go play elsewhere. Seriously, does it look like the way to protect an equipment the access to which demands clearance? But Spock is, by far, the worst offender. With what was at stake there, people, in later series, would have not hesitated in using phasers or, if it were, somehow, to call unwanted attention, knock out that officer.
