1:23 That's...actually pretty accurate of what would likely happen in a situation like that. Many years ago, isolated tribes in Africa received packages of food dropped by airplanes. After a while, the drops stopped and it was decided it was best to not interfere in their lives I guess. After that, they found wooden sculptures that resembled the airplane used to drop food. If memory serves, they would build these wooden statues in hopes that the planes would one day return and bring food.

Yeah, but don't forget, one of the main villains in this film happens to be a Starfleet Admiral - he could've just as easily ordered the entire fleet to go off to some other sector of space or to just stand down and do nothing while he's off destroying the Enterprise.

Considering that even in TNG/DS9, First Contact as well as Star Trek 2009, Earth suffers direct attacks without having defenses like orbital platforms, fleets and starbases...it has been made abundantly clear that Starfleet, mostly the Federation relies greatly on the goodwill of the other races and Earth's distance from them for its defenses. I guess they are trying REALLY REALLY hard to appear like an exploratory, humanitarian, scientific armada than a defense/military one. As if it were against their principles from 'arming' Earth. But I've come across a few times in all of Treklore that has insinuated that the people of Earth have very little idea what it really is like outside. They have grown in a world free of war, famine and need, so they with the exception of Starfleet employees and other Federation worlds really never get to know how bad things really are or even what Starfleet is up to. In their infinite wisdom of being sheltered peace loving hippies, they have de-armed themselves. Does that make sense?
@k1productions876 жыл бұрын
Sure, thats what they SAY, but any time Enterprise goes to Earth, there are never any other ships around. That is, unless the script doesn't call for any ships to DO anything, then you see ships all over the place.

That scene where the Vengeance attacks Enterprise in warp and the crew members get sucked into space. Damn. Imagine that - not only are you about to suffer a pretty gnarly death in the vacuum of space, you'll also die knowing that your frozen corpse will be hurled through the universe at several times the speed of light until finally hitting an object and going "splat" like a giant insect on a windshield. That's gotta suck.

Actually according to how warp drive works,you will be shattered immediately after dropping out of the ship by the huge gravitational anomaly generated by the ship.
@TheAngryAstronomer7 жыл бұрын
Yes I suspect the human body couldn't survive the transition across the barrier of the warp bubble. Considering there is positive gravity at the head of the bubble and negative at the back the fact that the bodies are drawn towards the aft makes sense.

At that speed, you will become nothing in not even one second, you don't even have time to feel pain :))
@stasis.91775 жыл бұрын
Indeed.I don't think there's any forces related to acceleration inside the warp bubble,while the ship(and the bubble) is traveling at a FTL speed.You're literally accerelated to FTL in no time.Or maybe not,since human body follows relativity,but you will still be accelerated to near the speed of light and...yeah,disintergrate.

I’d say my biggest peeve with these movies is that they never once show a shield effect, even when they say shields are still on but low. Makes it look too fragile, show me them busting through the shield first then as many hits as you want lol
@guardian7811 Жыл бұрын
This is my main issue with them as well.
@thunderboltcougar5626 Жыл бұрын
Well actually, THAT's exactly the point. Shield during Kirk/enterprise A era (tmp, tos) were designed to reduce impact/splash damage, also by strenghten its structural integrity. Very similar to Starwars (excluding the last episode). Their technology weren't advance enough to keep the damage away from the ship's hull as bubble shield shown in ST the next generation era. A noticably better shielding effect began from Excelsior class/enterprise B, in which the shield able to prevent any visible physical damage, however the ship still suffer extensive EM damage from it. In other word, yes, they looks fragile in this era indeed. While the explosion upon the impact, looks huge & devastating, thanks to the shield, the resulting hole /hull breached shown were much smaller than you may expecting. Edit, TBH this kind of fragileness, what i like the most from this era.
@Yaapo Жыл бұрын
@thunderboltcougar5626 But even if the deflectors were offline, the Connie class was designed to tank powerful hits and still be in one piece. Unlike the Abrams Trek movies.
@thunderboltcougar5626 Жыл бұрын
@@Yaapo agree. Not only Connie, but most fed ships in ST (even more for their top of the line ships) are very powerful. Despite they are designated as explorer/ heavy cruiser, they (including Connie) are more than capable to singlehandedly take on one on one combat against any major race's top of the line battleships in alpha quadrant. Btw perhaps i had made some misunderstanding, I just want to point out the difference of special/damage effect between era. I didn't mean she's weak, it just, weapons in ST (in every era) are extremely powerful in comparison to their hull/ defense technology of the same era (even compared to other scifi's weaponry). Actually they are pretty powerful too in Abrams movie. She took the heavy beating, but if you look closely, the resulting breach were rather small and not as severed as you may expecting. Thanks to the combination armor & shield. In term of strenght, i considered them to be on par with Connie from TMP movie. It just in Abrams movie, EntA was pretty unlucky and never fought equal adversaries so far. They are either ship w/ 24th century tech; unknown superior alien race; and federation super dreadnought. I really want to see the fight between Connie and K'tinga. As side interesting note, had you see Startrek Fleet Command Intro? The Connie aggresively took on two K'tinga, heavily damage both of them. She posseses a serious threat, that forcing the Klingons to converge on her; despite there's actually the heavier, Newton class escort nearby. Well perhaps they'r not canon, but i could expect that much from Connie. I wish i could see similar fight from jjAbrams too.

@@thunderboltcougar5626 I am amazed by the effects in Star Trek movies, but I feel that their power scale is no longer relevant in this era. Many other stories are more realistic in depicting how Type 1 civilizations wage war. As far as we can see, Star Trek often portrays the same style of warfare that many Type 1 or higher alien civilizations still engage in, which is almost identical to the warfare of Type 0 civilizations like us today. However, when we look at other works of science fiction, such as "The Three-Body Problem," the alien weapons displayed are both creative and effective. The authors successfully make readers imagine how weak humans are, even though they have a powerful space fleet. It can be said that the way alien civilizations wage war surpasses our imagination. That's what I would like to see in contemporary and future science fiction films. Unfortunately, popular Hollywood films like Star Trek have not yet been willing to take this approach.

0:42 See, this is why Starfleet _needs cloaking tech._ Hopefully they'll get it in the Kelvin timeline because the Federation will kerbstomp the Romulans in the first war. It was a draw in the Prime timeline, this timeline Starfleet has much better ships (including the Dreadnaught class) and is more aggressive, plus they have transwarp beaming for boarding and suprise ground raids. The Romulans can't get Intel by disguising themselves as Vulcans as there are too few and only Spock is in Starfleet, the rest are making babies. And finally the mood of the Federation is not for compromise (Marcus wasn't the only one) and the general public will still blame the Romulan Empire for Nero's crimes. When the Federation annex Romulus, they can impose Vulcan culture and passivity upon them to make them easy to control… the ultimate irony. I'm just disappointed the new Enterprise at the end of Beyond wasn't a Dreadnaught class. It's public knowledge now, ever since San Francisco - hard to cover that one up. Imagine it in white.

"I'm just dissapointed the new Enterprise at the end of Beyond wasn't a Dreadnought class." you kidding me? it might as well be, the new one dwarfs every other ship in starfleet without any good reason (its pretty much on par with the first refit) mind you it clocks in at around 725m which is really not far off from the dreadnought class (750m)

Great compilation. Great reboot of the Star Trek Franchaise. Its , of course, a money-machine like Star Wars, but we have to dream to come forward and develope ourselfes, Star Trek is the best series for this.It leads young people, also Star Wars did, to be interested in technology and how we come forward. Star Trek is the better series compared to Star Wars, Star Wars is a tale, Star Trek always tried to find out, what might be possible and used a lot of real science theories, so, it is the better series. Sorry for mistakes, i have to improve my english ;) Greetings from Kaiserslautern, Germany

Two ships wailing on each other in a Starfleet vs. Starfleet battle INSIDE the orbit of the Moon...and yet there's seemingly no other traffic around - no other ships to render assistance, nothing. At the HEART of the Federation. No other ships around to investigate this possible security issue.

You know they sorta gloss over the fact that potentially a couple hundred thousand people died when the vengence crashed, obliterating about 30 square city blocks and about 2-3 dozen skyscrapers in under 30 seconds.

The first clip with Enterprise under water is amazing also they gave the people q new GOD. This reboot is very good. The Calvin timeline is the same but with twists that make the movies a great fun ride. The soundtrack is similar enough that you know it is Star Trek. The actors are very close to the Prime Timeline, that they feel like old friends not strangers. Over all a great few movies. And shows the possibility of other timelines that are basically the same. Like The Mirror Universe. Same people but slightly different.
