Star Trek : Odyssey 1.03 "The Lotus Eaters"

The Archien's relentless pursuit of the U.S.S. Odyssey is taking its toll and Ro is having to deal with serious differences of opinion amongst his senior staff.
Starfleet ideals win out over Romulan practicality as a Starfleet distress signal is detected and Odyssey is steered back into mortal danger to prevent the Archiens from committing genocide.
The Archien's internal power struggles escalate as an arrest warrant is issued citing damning evidence against the target. Whose name is on the warrant and what evidence has been found?

it is very good for production ... I just wish they could get the inset sets from the actual shows lighting to mesh with their lighting ... the green screen work needs work ...but they have a good premise ... even if it is ... a rehash of Voyager ...

Canon or apocryphal yes it is in the spirit of Star Trek as are school plays , dinner theater, and community theater productions in the sprit of Shakespear,only these people must goe one farther in that the need to write new plays for the characters, who does that for Romeo and Juliett or Hamlet? I think they have done some remarkably good work .

I am sure than none of these people do anything like this in their real lives. To be so hateful over such a small variation from canon from a group of volunteers is just unwarranted. Been watching these, one of the better fan made series. I hate to be one of those proto-typical nit picking trekkies but unfortunately the Omega episodes were some of my favorites and based on the Omega back story the "detonation" or uncontrolled meltdown of an omega molecule was enough to distort subspace such that warp travel became impossible (the reason starfleet has such a rigid philosophy regarding it) so for this to have happened should have left the ships stranded without warp...

Does anyone else have a problem playing the ST:O videos? Every one of them looks like an old broken tv set - a bunch of disjointed horizontal lines. I can go to any other video on youtube without this problem, but every one of these is unplayable.

Well I have seen alot of criticism of this fan produced series,alot of criticism of the gay elements and of the acting..well considering they have no studio to back 'em on props,makeup and scenery,considering that they had the balls to add that gay element when the studio did not(without making it some inderect metaphor that is) and considering they're amatuers some of who's acting is on a Shatnerian level of hamminess I say that this is a worthy effort..maybe Paramount could throw 'em a few props to use,like some decent alien uniforms,make up wigs,ect...It's not perfect but the spirit of Star Trek is there and if they had these on dvd I'd get them for what it represents if not for production value.

I could of sworn the sheets were moving at the beginning of this when slave subject was under them, it could be a turn on for some, but was quite frightening to me. The Kelvin are different in this span of 100 years and I take it they are the decedents of those who encountered Kirk. I believe from the original series they went back to the planet Kirk found them on in our Milky Way to conquer and build. Maybe I missed some non-cannon to were they finally left our galaxy using modified Federation ship since they had a Federation signature. McConnell's acting and narration seams to be improving and he is refreshing. A Federation ships computer locking out access to the captain over the Omega particle is not productive, the captain knows the regulations/laws and the action that must take place, it's as though someone took the rattle away from the baby and we all know what happens when that occurs. The show was really gay as hell in the pilot, but the captain did mention his husband at least in this one. I suppose he will be single and have no gay romance thru out this, we wouldn't want to commit adultery, even in the gay community, LOL. If this is like Star Trek Voyager, he will be ringing the hand towel for 7 years unless he uses the holodeck and programs his husband in there. The theme music when it comes on reminds me of Voyagers.

How did the Andromedans even KNOW what they were talking about when they said "Omega" molecule? At least a LITTLE bit of explanation would have been needed before they figured out that the "omega" molecule was a reference to their own power source. What's even worse is the writers don't even know what the Omega molecule DOES! The Omega molecule explosion does not render a system "uninhabitable." If exploded that molecule renders warp drive IMPOSSIBLE, FOREVER. She would be trapping not only the Arkan ships but THEIR OWN in that sector forever. Yet, after the explosion the writers have ships going to warp. You know, you really could AVOID these violations of Canon by a simple trip to Memory Alpha.

One thing I really do struggle with about this series is how... uninspiring the opening titles music is. It's very generic - it doesn't have the melodrama of TOS's one-woman-wail, the call to adventure of TNG, the sense of stately awe conveyed by DS9, or Voyager's elegant and graceful melody. Not to say it's a bad piece of music from a structure perspective, it just doesn't feel like Trek.

The first episode was the setup -- with insight into the character of Ro who is a newlywed that has his honeymoon cut short by an event that takes him from his husband and puts him in a position he hasn't trained for. Paralleling the original Odyssey, Ro wants to get back to his husband but is occupied by ordeals in another galaxy. Ro is in a homosexual relationship, but where is the gay boy agenda? Or maybe I should ask, what is the gay boy agenda?

You know when you make something like this show, it is purely here for entertainment. When you put sex into every part you lose so many viewers. That is the reason you only have 92000 viewers. When you force thing that are not excepted even though mandated you lose the really big number you are looking for. I have only seen one other then this episode and one other. Sorry but because of your political agenda I will watch no more. Star Trek was not about sex.
