Every Star Trek fan should see these. These producers got it right where Berman and Braga went wrong. That they only have a few thousands views after a year is a travesty.
@granudisimo5 жыл бұрын
You'll be glad to see that six years after your comment the few thousand views have grown to a few tens of thousands. Still unfair tho, this is the best fan made stuff I've ever seen, and from what I see in the related videos list they got up to five seasons at least.

I continue to be floored by this show, the writing, the effects and ESPECIALLY the acting. Out of all the shows involved in this series eg: Hidden Frontier, Helena Chronicles, etc the characters and situations feel the most real and this episode exceeded any of the shows on TV. The final conversation in the ready room could not have happened with any other captain, and that is sad - for the canon shows. ST: Odyssey got it right where no others did. 10/10.

I can understand from a production standpoint why there aren't more characters on the show (oh the poor empty spaceship!) but why is the engineer giving an autopsy report? Why has the Captain not changed to red command colors on his uniform? Why did they give a phaser to their prisoner/refugee?
@ChristinaMoore792 жыл бұрын
I believe Ro didn't change his shirt because, although he was technically in charge, he did not *feel* like he was the captain.

I completely agree, although to be fair it is most likely a reaction to the fact that many people focus entirely too much on the "original" aspect of fan made shows. That and the fact that ANY scriptwriter these days is going to be henpecked into oblivion by the vocal advocates of whatever cause happens to be controversial at the moment. It's just the way it goes.

You know in an odd way i have always been annoyed when people attempt to emulate anything to do with star trek, but this show has got me addicted. The characters are wonderful especially the Doctor! When someone eventually pulls there finger out of their arses and gets on with a new show there are a couple of characters from this should be dragged over, especially Doctor Vaughn with his 31 back story.
@Opnn8d111 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. I have a great deal of respect for the concept of IDIC throughout Star Trek, both official and fan-written. However, I believe that the producers of these fan shows are going a bit overboard with the same-sex relationship scenarios. In fact, I think there's too much emphasis on romantic encounters period. There needs to be more about problem solving and less about who sleeps with who. In my opinion.

i'll have to watch the 1st episode, but i think this was a training mission with teenage cadets, and all the senior members of the crew were killed, and the teens were left in control and lost in another galaxy, like the voyager series.

DS9 did an episode with the same plot. Training crew, adults dead, rescue Jake and Nog.
@ChristinaMoore792 жыл бұрын
I believe the Odyssey had a skeleton crew due to the extreme risk involved in the nature of their mission to Andromeda.

Couple of points I'd like to make. 1: Why is the acting chief engineer involved in any aspect of the autopsy? Shouldn't Stadi have been handling the whole thing, including the forensics? 2: Why implicate Cacaus in falsifying what the translations? Why not just roll with it and say that Basha falsified the logs herself and that Cacaus was just reading what was there? 3: Also, the doctor is following actual orders from section 31 and he gets thrown in the brig until the EMH pisses off Nevin. T'Lora gets thrown in the brig for jeopardizing the crew. Stadi commits actual murder (yes, it was murder, however you dice it) and she gets to go back to her stations? If they can go almost a month without a doctor and a second in command, I think they can manage to go a week or two with Stadi on mandatory leave. At the very least she should have been made to take that time off that Nevin suggested at the beginning. Those are just my thoughts. Otherwise I really like what you've done with this series.
@anonymuswere9 жыл бұрын
I believe they're in "make-due" mode due to the major loss of personnel. also, I believe the makers pointed out at the beginning that the ship is called the Oddessy for a reason; this is a reinterpretation of the greek story.
@NateSean9 жыл бұрын
I get the idea of being heavily understaffed, but that doesn't make a guy who isn't even fully trained to run the engine room suddenly a forensics expert. In World War Two, when the Franks and Van Daans had problems with a toothache, Mr. Dussel was handy to have around. But if anyone needed an appendectomy, they were SOL because a dentist isn't trained for that area of the body. Story wise, if they were going to go with the "make due" mode as you suggested, they should have done a tiny bit of lamp shading. Maybe suggest that Stodi told him what to look for and then based on his findings, have her actually make the official statement. Or, since we know there were other crewmen and officers on board, have one of them come to the center of the screen and write it off as "I took a semester of such and such at the academy."

Oh my this is supposed to be 24th century star fleet usage of the statement "kick the bucket" would not have been used. Please stay true the Gene Roddenberry universe. Or do you want to follow in JJ Abrams footsteps?
@NateSean10 жыл бұрын
Um.. you remember when Kirk told a Klingon to "go climb a tree", right? That was common phrase in the 1960's, the decade of the show's production. If you're going to romanticize Roddenberry then I suggest staying far away from DS9.

Starfleet training is designed that way, each one is specialized in their own thing but have general knowledge to take anyone else's place if the needs arises. You can see the acting captain struggling to work a command position but pulling trough nonetheless

Thanks for making these great adventures! I am enjoying them more than most Semi-Pro league low budget STAR TREKS because you have taken a few unique liberties and made this your own. Well done! Entertaining and inspiring and I feel very fond of the characters which is my best benchmark for ST success. Unless the ST characters become your friends-it isn't Star Trek. I love these guys-I love the evolved Bi-sexuality theme...hey why not? Wouldn't the future be better off if everybody wanted everybody? No more lonely nights-you know? Stunning Romulan beauty; Beta-zed Japanese cutie...and cool bad guys and gals. Kudos on the make up team! I think you've nailed it and comparisons to the corporate Media is just stupid in my opinion. They have bazillions to spend and make crappy action adventure "Wagon train in space with lights in your eyes." I do think there are scenes that I would have rewritten and dialogue that can be a bit icky with the personal stuff-and having my Beta-Zed snarky pal murder that scientist was wrong. Indeed who cries over a stranger that you just killed for no reason and then feels proud about it? Talk about uncharacteristic. Please take that scene back. If you've ever experienced murder close hand (and I have) you might not think that was cool. Otherwise very well done. And I think I detect a South Jersystralian dialect in that fake accent.
