⚠️ All comments complaining about reverting footage back to HFR like it was shot (the show is downcranked to 24fps for broadcast) will be deleted... and probably pointlessly toxic comments, too ⚠️
Picard is shot with:
- ARRI Alexa MINI digital cameras using Cooke Anamorphic i/SF lenses ✅
- 3424 x 2202px sensors ✅
- 0.75 - 200 fps ✅
------------
Thank the good ol' Prime Directive...

Anyone else notice, that throughout all 3 season, picard voice was that of a old man, strong but soft spoken, but when he boarded the enterprise D , his voice changed to the strong, decisive picard we know and love.

He still has a strong voice. Been playing an older Picard for years (s1 and 2 and a lot of3) now. But still has Captain Picard the speech maker in him. See Dr Strange and the Multiverse… he’s still got booming Shakespeare in there.

That moment when Picard says "Engage!" The slow turn with the planet in the background, the musical build up, with humanity's existence on the line, there's only one last hope, one last chance to win!!! The painting and other various hints were a massive foreshadow to the big reveal,as soon as I saw that painting and Geordi’s daughter mention hangar 12 I knew it was coming especially after season 2 reveals the saucer was at the fleet museum,I wonder how instrumental the enterprise D was in getting starfleet back up and running in the year leading up to her final retirement and return to the fleet museum, that last shot of her looks like she was fixed up and cleaned properly for display

The new ships jump to warp with a small pyoop. The old D you hear the roar of her power building, and then with a hiss and a crack of power as the ship literally forces spacetime out of the way, she leaps away. For reference, this is like a twin-turbo tractor trailer cab racing a F1 car.... and winning.

There is without a doubt a truly momentous feeling seeing the D . It gives those of us who sat through every movie the next generation kicked out. I went to all the next Gen movies and yes I even cried when she was destroyed. And I even cried in this scene. To be honest I'm Navy and at one point in my life I truly wanted to serve on the USS ENTERPRISE CVN-65. however I served on USS SEATTLE AOE-3. I GET emotional about Navy ships. As I get emotional about ol glory. .. truly seeing the D fly one more time brought tears to me. Even if it's a tv show. It has to do with the heart ladies and gentleman. Kirk loved his ship more than Picard cared for this one. Not to mention Kirk had to end the 1701 on purpose. THAT was heartbreaking. The D went down because someone sneezed near the warp core and it had its 193rd random warp core breach. These sudden deep feelings for the D from this crew were wholly manufactured for this cheap shot. Picard had no problem walking around in the ruins of it 30 years ago, "Oh well, they'll name some more ships Enterprise. Dems da breaks." He and Data were more worried about a cat and a photo album. I imagine the rest of the crew were even less concerned for the ship itself.

Call me sentimental but when I see her "death scene" in Generations I see her protecting the crew and company. No it does not. It was still horrible and a massive disservice to the old shows. They need to stop being trapped in the past and create something new that can stand on its own...what is season 4 going to be the new ultra Cardassians? Going to magically bring Gul Ducat back along with Quark and 5 other characters from old shows trying really hard to cling to relevance? Anything to not create new characters, races and plots because that is just too damn hard today. I am starting to wonder if Disney bought out the rights to Star Trek because it is literally so low it can be directly compared to the trite low effort "content" they have been churning out for Star Wars and Marvel.

This is still my favorite part of Picard Season 3. Seeing the Enterprise-D back in all its glory. And with the original bridge that actually had more than one lightbulb for the whole thing! The attention to detail was absolutely top notch too. Geordi mentioned that he hadn't been able to completely finish up the hull work and sure enough, the scorch marks on the front of the saucer section from its atmospheric entry & crash landing on Veridian III are still there. Plus, Geordi mentions getting the "engines and nacelles" from the USS Syracuse, although what he was referring to was literally the entire stardrive section. Showing, once again, that Geordi hadn't had time to finish up his work on the ship yet, the stardrive section is actually a bit of a different shade from the saucer section and in certain shots you can see that it still has the Syracuse name & registry on it. They really knocked it out of the park on this one with the details. Then, a year later, it's obvious that Starfleet gave Geordi whatever resources he needed in order to finish the job of restoring the Enterprise-D. Because when it's at the Fleet Museum in its final resting place, the scorch marks are gone from the saucer and the entire ship is now the same shade. Presumably, they would have put the Enterprise-D name & registry on the stardrive. Although, I think it would be a really cool touch if they placed the dedication plaque from the Syracuse in main engineering as a sort of nod to the stardrive section's origin.

I love Picards "Oh yes - She'll fly". Shows that after 30 years, he has nothing but faith in the Grand Old Lady of the fleet. Reminds me of Commander Adama with Galactica at her decommissioning. He took her into battle without a second thought for her ability to throw a punch and take a few. Two Grand Old Ladies of their respective fleets, standing up when needed, and proving that technological progress means fuck all

My first thought came to one of my favorite moments in DS9: the Second Battle of Chin'toka. I do _not_ like the Defiant-Class and was more then happy to watch the Defiant die, but during that scene, one Galaxy was missing her saucer section and drifting. The Syracuse is a perfect fit. But also consider we haven't seen a single Galaxy-Class starship in active service since Endgame. Starfleet could have also _mass retired_ the class and outright replaced them with the more tactically focused and advanced Ross-Class, which is basically just a more advanced Galaxy, if...not exactly aesthetically pleasing, seeing as the Syracuse hull is so _clean._

There's actually a fan short that was released a couple of days after "Picard" ended that shows Starfleet beginning to move the saucer off of Veridian III (?) after the end of "Generations." It even had a "guest" appearance by the late Leonard Nimoy's Spock retrieving Kirk's insignia badge. It may or may not be up; even though the company who did it was collaborating with Paramount for the Roddenberry Archives, I think they forced them to take it down because Paramount hates when someone does "Star Trek" better than they do. It's called "765874 - Regeneration."

Y'know, I get accused of being suckered by the nostalgia, but... this one lands, I think, because the people writing and producing it finally get a core premise of the original show, one which was carried over into TNG, DS9 and VOY - The ship itself is a character. A Starship should be a nearly magical thing; The vessel that brings the characters together, carries the story, and gives them something to fight for.
