I don't believe that at all when entire fleets were being wiped out and planets like Betazed are conquered by the Dominion. Losing the Enterprise would be a blow, to be sure, but it would be a drop in the bucket compared to everything else.

@@ironstarofmordian7098 It's cooler but it doesn't follow standard design principle and it's minimally functional outside of battles. You would never send it on a diplomatic or exploratory mission, and it would not have survived the delta quadrant. From a visual design perspective, the sovereign is near perfectly balanced, while the defiant is what you get when you take a ship like the sovereign and throw it in a trash compactor to squeeze out all the science.

If the Defiant-class is the Starfleet's (and Ben Sisko's) pimp hand, the Sovereign-class is that baseball bat with a barbed wire. That's what I see of the Sovereign-class. I still recall my surprise when I saw the E the first time I saw First Contact. The first thing that came to my mind was "Goddamn. That's one beautiful ship! Bet she got some teeth!" The E didn't disappoint at all.

After the refit the Enterprise E had 16 phaser arrays and 10 torpedo launchers (after Nemesis) she was one badass ship and my favourite starship of the series.

Whether it be "speak softly, and carry a big stick" or "walk softly, and carry a big gun", both aptly describe the philosophy I see of the Sovereign class. Very fitting for an Enterprise.

"Speak softly, and carry a big stick." While I've never been sure if it's what the phrase originally meant, to me at least, the Sovereign class has exemplified that phrase. She is more than capable of being diplomatic, and scientific, and several other things that she may need to be. When meeting a new race, she is elegant, visually appealing, and impressive in all the right ways. She can speak softly, and provide a conduit for Federation diplomacy. However, she is no leaf one can just step on. Should hostilities erupt, she can more than defend herself. Hard to kill, and capable of hitting even harder, the Sovereign is well armed and defended against enemy attacks. While not built for combat as much as the Akira, Defiant, or Prometheus, she can still fight with the best of them. She is a big stick that is not easily moved, and will leave bruises and broken bones in her wake when swung. There is some debate if she's overly armed for an exploratory ship, but I'd argue it's just about right. I'd rather risk misunderstandings and give the mission a high chance of coming back alive to warn of trouble coming right behind her, than risk her not coming back at all should things turn sour, leaving me unaware that trouble is on the other side of the nebula.

Starfleet doesn't have warships. They don't need warships when their diplomatic vessels have enough firepower to take on the dedicated warships of other factions.

Starfleet doesn't have any _true_ warships because even their combat-focused ships are designed to have some sort of peacetime role that doesn't involve shooting things. The Akira class can double as a heavy freighter or a mobile research base due to its massive hangar, the Prometheus class as a high-speed courier of sorts since it is the fastest ship in Starfleet in terms of warp speeds, and the Defiant and Sabre as patrol ships to deter pirates and smugglers. Still trying to figure out the Steamrunner class's peacetime role could be, though...

This class walks in some heavy shoes, taking over the role previously filled by the Excelsior as primary combat cruiser and admirals flagship. She is going to be built in those numbers as well, allowing the much larger Galaxy class still in full production to be applied to its primary mission of explorer and envoy.

Yeah, it looks to be mounted right above the yacht's bow when berthed. Space is at a premium on a vessel, you have to fit things in where they can fit.

It was a bunch of scientists who were lucky enough to be there at the right moment during one of their checks on how humanity was doing. The book Ship of the Line retells the launching of E-E and how it was originally captained by Morgan Bateson (the guy who kept hitting the E-D in a time loop), before he handed over command to Picard after the Kozara incident (Kozara being Bateson's Klingon enemy from his own time). You get to command a Sovereign class in Bridge Commander, a severely underrated game.

*The Argo wasn't standard equipment.* As has been decided by the _comments section of the very video that you did on it,_ the Argo was *replicated* on the spot by (one of?) the Enterprise's industrial replicators. It was in fact a classic vehicle from centuries before, and the cannon was a last minute suggestion by Worf based on a legendary energy weapon from a historic Klingon battle. That's why it wasn't a sealed hover buggy with a automatically targeting phaser that could obliterate anything in range. From their perspective it was only slightly more advanced than a 57 Chevy pick up with a _mini gun in the bed_ - Tom Paris's choice (the mini gun was to keep B'lana entertained). It's just that the dialogue was edited out in the docudrama on the events.

Coincidentally, I'm building an AMT Enterprise E 1/1400 scale model. Although the "First Contact" variant. I got into Trek through that film one late night as a kid changing channels. I love this ship!!! Definitely the most beautiful ship. An excellent successor to the Galaxy-class, Ent-D (although she was done dirty in Generations). I just wish we got the Ent-E treatment in Picard S3. Wouldn't it be cool to see the rebuilt Ent-D rescuing the Ent-E in the Borg cube? They could've maintained the storyline, with Jack being kidnapped by the Borg, and added the Ent-E. Use it like a beacon or something that is linked to Starfleet's network. In the end, we get Ent-D, Ent-E, and Titan-A going back home.

The Sovereign is lots of fun in Star Trek Online, and in the later Destiny and post Voyager novels. I'd love to see her in action again, but we're stuck with Discovery and a smaller ship for the new Picard show I am sure.

I love that ship, ever since I play Star Trek Bridge Commander since the Prototype Sovereign is the Hero Ship commanded by a Nameless and Silent Captain (use your Imagination)

Not sure if you had already explored and analysed this topic but I would like to suggest a video or a couple of videos about the various 3 and 4 nacelled vessels used throughout star trek lore ....I am fascinated by those ships. And if they are meant to be more effective/ efficient why were there not adopted or applied as the default design throught star fleet.....just a thought. Anyways keep up the good work
