The Curry class kitbash components are just WAY out of scale with each other, much like the Yeager class is. That saucer should be huge compared to the nacelles. It just looks wonky and should have never been front-and-center on screen in DS9. At least the Wolf 359 kitbash fleet was designed to be a single quick glance and/or in the distance.

Paul Costa have you not seen the scales of the Klingon bird of prey? Don’t be so literal. They took the Miranda nacelle design and upped the ratios to suit an excelsior class saucer and body. It’s not rocket science. It’s warp science. Lol

Got the magazine but got the issue 114 USS Buran got a round around by Eaglemoss to do this and that got the ship outside Eaglemoss

This has got to be one of the most bizarre looking kit-bashes I've ever seen in all of Star Trek. But, at the same time, I kind-of love it. Might even like this model myself someday. :)

I still think those engines are out of scale. The Excelsior was a big ship.467 meters. Enterprise refit was 305 meters.

I bought this one in a group of some TMP era ships, Reliant, Enterprise (refit), and the Bozeman (forgive spelling if I got it wrong). I keep getting disappointed the 1701 A and B have remained out if stock the passed year. Really want those two...

The model is a nice representation of the 'real' ship, but the Curry just makes no sense. The shipyard has an Excelsior primary hull, secondary hull and neck, but instead of putting them together as they're supposed to go they arbitrarily stick the neck in the middle of the secondary hull and then stick the middle of the primary hull on top of that. Making extra work because the construction team needs to cut new access and securing points, while simultaneously sealing off the parts of the primary and secondary hulls where the neck was supposed to be in the first place. I'd be surprised if the shipyard that put this thing together didn't give the middle finger to the bureau of ship design and put the thing together in a more sensible way :p If, y'know, this wasn't just a TV show and I wasn't supposed to just relax.

I feel like this was actually some ship graveyard engineer's pet project that he was just dicking around for years on for fun and then a war broke out and they're like "we're re-activating all the ships from this graveyard. Does that one fly? Then that one too."

Never knew it was a mixed class, I'd always assumed that it was pretty much of the same run of the Excelsior Class but one that didn't utilise the transwarp style engines and used the traditional Constitution/Miranda Class engines. More of a Battle-cruiser instead of the battleship the Excelsior was.

I know there are criticisms, but to me this kitbash makes much more sense then the Yeager Class. At least all the parts are Federation, as opposed to an even more out of scale Maqui Raider and Intrepid.

Mine came with both nacelles broken. I called and got a replacement. It came with one nacelle broken off.

The pattern of irregular panelling seen on many Federation ships. Not every ship has it (the Voyager doesn't). See the NX-01 for the most obvious example. It's always a bonus when Eaglemoss recreate it on their models.

Great review as always. I want to like this ship, but I just can't. If it had the Excelsior style nacelles and the support pylons looked more solid I would be more on board with it, but it literally looks like parts and pieces glued together. Which yes, I get that is the point of a kitbash, but it just looks wrong to me. Personally, I would have like to have seen these pieces styled more like the Oberth class.

Fox Piano they didn’t take Miranda nacelles. They took maranda nacelle design and upped the ratios. Not out of scale.

Fox Piano doesn’t have anything to do with buying it. It’s a logical supposition. They are obviously not the same size nacelles as the reliant. Hence they are larger. That’s what I said.

design of shuttle bay wouldn't be wise in battle not for a clean get away any way and though out that war that was big thing for the feduration the mother ship would almost have to be at a full stop now the akira class that was smart shuttles could enter front or back.

Sad thing is, it would have made some sense as a successor to the Oberth class, designed to use existing parts when an Oberth doesn't have enough capacity. Supposing there's a reason for the Oberth's configuration, it would have made a fair bit of sense.

The Curry type and Shelly type were canon Excelsior variants and seen on DS9. So...both. Starfleet had tons of Excelsiors and Mirandas lying around in mothballs and most were too old to be used in their original form. So they just tossed them together into an emergency fleet. The Curry class served as a light carrier and the Shelley as a troop transport.
