I love how when it loops with them saying "a private conversation" might be the type of song, but it feels like they both have a compulsion to sing, but keep wanting to not talk, so they both keep saying the chorus line over and over in the hopes they can stop before anything else slips out.

Can I point out something I love about SNW? The characters feel so rich and lived-in. They aren't a collection of traits stitched together; they feel like actual people you'd meet who have a million little nuances you wouldn't anticipate. Like Pike, for all his virtues, doesn't handle conflict in his romantic relationships the best way. It's believable. It's a plausible foible.

Better writing that Discovery. And Discovery's only real achievement is paving way for SNW by making all the worst mistakes first and introducing Pike's Enterprise for a short story arc (which also turned out to be the best).

Yeah, sure reaction to Klingon was cool too, but the moment Ortegaz started to sing(as he jumped out of his "chair") and here, reaction on "Oh, no, no, you don't"... i nearly died of laughter.

I like that this scene perfectly illustrates the ACTUAL threat this poses rather than what La'an was concerned about. Sure, it makes you divulge your innermost feelings but the real danger is the physical control it has over you. Pike realized what was happening and, when he turned to stop it, he was compelled to go back to singing. That situation wasn't life or death but what's to stop a song outbreak from happening mid battle?

It's a fantastic song, but I would have loved a little more of a tango vibe to it. Underlying love, but the conflict of their recent disagreement. Maybe some violin and Marie standing out of her seat as their private conversation gets more heated. I can see La'an turning off the connection as Pike and Batel were nose to viewscreen staring at each other while singing.

I think it was typical vacation for all lovey dovey and its not his style, he doesnt know how to be so open. He is playfull and caring and responsible but not so very much open about himself. My interpretation.
