The Phoenix Comicon goes Sci-Fi with a 25 Year Reunion of the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Levar Burton, Michael Dorn, Marina Sirtis, Brent Spiner, and Wil Wheaton come together for this special event and field questions from adoring fans. These guys are close and it shows in the way they give each other a hard time on stage. To the point where Dorn stops talking.

It has to be tough doing this for so many years. I'm always reminded of the beginning of Galaxy Quest where they're all just miserable. How many times have they told the same stories and been asked the same questions and had to listen to the others tell their stories for the thousandth time? It must be exhausting. God love 'em for keeping the fans happy. They seem like a genuinely great group of people. :-)

Marina has every right to an opinion & voice it as well, just as everyone else on Earth. She's making jokes in some places. It keeps things interesting & also thought-provoking for an hour-plus show.
@jamesaleman
@jamesaleman 4 жыл бұрын
@@robwebnoid5763 Everyone has opinions, I think panelists should save their opinions for later, fans are there to gush over their characters, not see a train wreck or open hostility. It just doesn't meet the time and place of the setting to be rude or bicker with other panelists/fans. Anyway that was just another opinion so disregard if you like.
@robwebnoid5763
@robwebnoid5763 4 жыл бұрын
@@jamesaleman ... Nah, it's fine. I did forget I commented here, it's been 4 months. But anyway, something we have to keep in mind is that these TNG actors have been doing these conventions for like 2-3 decades & about half of the questions they've been asked have been asked before multiple times, so they are going to have to answer them in different & interesting ways to make it less tiring. And some fans would rather have these actors show their true selves & personalities to get to know them better. And some fans go to multiple conventions & probably don't want to hear the same answers & deliveries. I don't mind what Marina says or any other Trek actors say as long as they aren't boring, or they don't get bored (again, 30 years of talking about the same things). And some of these actors would probably rather stay home, but these convention tours are rather lucrative for them, an additional income stream, plus they are likely socially pressured to attend because they are part of the lore of Star Trek & the fandom is asking for them. But that also doesn't mean they are not happy to be there. Even Marina has sometimes said she's humbled & thankful she even got a part at all & working during her days as a starving artist. I would say the only times that might piss me off is if a panelist (from Star Trek or not) really has some major zealotry about something I don't like. So far I haven't gotten pissed, heh.

There was mention of the episode, THE MOST TOYS, at the 40:13 minute mark. Sadly, there is more to the story than Brent Spiner let on. The original actor contracted to play 'Kivas Fajo' was the British actor, David Rappaport. You might remember him from the movie, Time Bandits, as the leader of that little bunch of men who stole a time machine. Yes, Rappaport suffered from dwarfism. He also struggled with depression later on in his career, and in this case ---- during the filming of some of the early scenes of THE MOST TOYS, Rappaport attempted suicide. Because of that, he was replaced by Saul Rubinek, who completed the episode. Three days before the episode aired, Rappaport took his life by gunshot to the chest in Laurel Canyon Park in San Fernando Valley, California, on May 2, 1990. So sad. So very sad.

I cringed at the "minor shuttle pilots" comment. The most important space achievement of the 20th century was the assembly, upgrade and maintenance of the Hubble Space Telescope. It showed us the clouds of dark matter, that gravity is much more than we previously thought, stellar formations we didn't even know could exist, what the universe looked like near the beginning, and much more. And who assembled and maintained it? The Space Shuttle teams. Show some respect! Other than that, all her other jokes are fine. That one comment just goes way over the top for me.

I have no idea why people attack Marina. It just shows the hypocrisy of people. Everything she says is true. Gene was a well known womanizer who enjoyed the pleasant things in life. Marina can say all those things because I believe she knew him better than all those who comment, combined. And it's all true.

A tiny bit of payback for nearly three years of having to deal with this snot-nosed kid!" But after hearing Wil's story of his desire to get a part in "ST:Nemesis", I regret having those feelings now. Wil has matured from those teenage years on Next Generation to include appreciation. Thumbs Up, Will!

Every time I see one of these convention panels with Marina I just think of the obnoxious, annoying, loud-mouthed aunt at a dinner who never shuts up or gives it a rest. Every.Single.Time.

Brent spiner and levar burton are the only cast members that seem humble and down to earth the other three just seem snobbish and arrogant

Brent spiner doesn't like Sci-Fi but he cares enough about the impact of his role that he goes to all these events.

I wish they'd have either left the interpreter in the scene the whole time or enabled the captions so those of us who are deaf can not have to lipread. thanks.

if they ever are going to make a movie about president Obama, Michael Dorn should be cast for the role.

I never understood why people(passionate fans in general) take a lot of shots at Marina. After watching this I completly understand why she would rub a lot of fans the wrong way, & get a lot of people pissed off and angry. As a mild fan it was nice to bridge that gap and make sense of it. It always seemed a strange mystery to me(the attacks). I personally don't mind her at all, She just being herself, I found it funny when they mention she never makes friends. She's an actor who could careless about the tech side of stuff. This was a nice video overall all & great Q&A I'm a mild fan who came across it, it's nice 2 see them as people instead of trek characters. Also very well shot and good ?'s(except the Romulen ale one).

Marina is nasty on this panel. Good thing Wil Wheaton put her in her place several times. Wil is smart and fast mentally. Levar and Michael are wondering why they are there and that is sad

I loved them all, but I'm really glad Will Wheaton was there to keep Marina Sirtis in check, and Brent Spiner was there to down play her cynicism. If you watch the movie "The Captains" you will see that many of the Star Trek actors don't like doing the comic con panels.

You know something, on watching these videos on "youtube" about the actors and actresses, it really would be nice to know (see) who it is asking those questions?
