Ultimately, I don't like the Star Trek movies - with the exception of ST IV, because it was brilliantly funny. IMO, in the effort to compete with Star Wars, they are dumbed down compared to the Original Series. Even the physics in space is depicted more accurately in the old series. And the pseudo-Star Wars music in particular is awful and cheesy, compared to Alexander Courage's score.

Probably one of the best sit down interviews I've ever watched. The interaction between the actors was priceless. Whoopie was for sure outnumbered, and didn't get to say as much as I would have liked to have heard her say. The stories were so wonderful. Some of course we may have heard through the years, while others fresh and enjoyable. This sadly, will never happen again, due to the loss of Leonard Nemoy. But what a moment to cherish! Most of the convention interviews hash out the same stories that we have heard time and again. This was so different. It was personable, enjoyable, and so much laughter. As a fan, this was one of the best time well spent. Attention! Bridge on the Captain!

They did in the 1960's when Civil Unrest, the Cold War and many other themes could be transferred into a Science fiction show..which is very different than a well-acted shown many decades later. Love when they gather all these great iconic actors together in real life. I'm an average fan, growing up in the late 60's and 70's, now a retired Veteran I've had the time to watch all the different series and movies beginning to end. I love the story lines but am more interested in the special affects and fictional engineering involved. My dad was a pretty well known mechanical engineer working for the govt. back in the day, for about 40 years. They actually used one of his hydraulic designs on the space shuttle landing gear. Now my dad loved engineering, math and science, but he was farthest from ever being considered a trekie or even remotely a fan of science fiction and every now and then I would hope that he would sit with me and watch episodes of star trek when I was growing up. He wasn't interested at all. Well when Wrath of Kahn came to a theater up the street from us, I convinced him to take me. During the ship battle scenes, I could see that he was amazed and interested in the amount of power and the engineering that may have been involved, not so much the destructive power, but more towards the shear size of the ships and of course to see something that incredible taking damage like that would make me a bit emotional as well. But yes, the Star Trek series did help give me one of the more memorable moments I had with my dad. It just felt good to see his reaction, knowing that he enjoyed the movie with me, even though his amazement was more on an engineering level. I could only imagine what was going thru his mind, trying to imagine how they would designed a ship that large and powerful. He also commented that now he could see my interest in those types of movies. We went bowling after that. :-) So now when I re-watch the old series, I always have that fond memory of my dad. Many thanks to all involved in the making of those great shows and movies. God bless all who have past and may they rest in peace.

Many thanks, you can't imagine watching an episode or movies from this series to fill the void in my life at times and give me a taste for life instead of depression. I admit having laughed heartily at some point in this interview thanks to the laughter of these 4 actors. My only sadness was to see that William Shatner did not watch a single episode of Next Generation it's sad because thanks to Next Generation because from there was born DS9, Voyager and Enterprise it made the Star Trek franchise grow. I would like to add that I became a Star Trek fan because of Patrick Stewart as Captain Picard for me he is one of the best Captain role models for me, his integrity and maturity is something I value and also the actor is so talented and convincing.

I always come back to watch this. These kind of interviews are so much more interesting and insightful. No overly obnoxious audience noise, or obvious spots for comedy, and no apparent rush to get through the interview because of time constraints. Just five people having a conversation about Star Trek.😃

the only bad opinions one every hears of shatner comes from Sulu and Doohan... and to a lesser extend Koenig and Nichols. Ive never heard an actor, director, producer outside of the co-stars on the original series ever utter a bad word about Shatner. makes you wonder.

This was awesome. I never met these gentlemen in person. The only one i ever met was Walter Koenig at a StarCon in 1976. Both, my brother and I, had the opportunity to spend 2 hours with Mr. Koenig after the signing party. What a wonderful experience that was. We had gone with him, and his agent back to the hotel room, and talked about everything but Star Trek. I was 16 years old then. What a memory to have.

13:07 Nimoy is refering to 'Zombies of the Stratosphere (1952)', while Stewart is actually talking about 'Lifeforce (1985)', which was originally called 'The Space Vampires' (which is the name of the book) rather than 'Zombies from Outer Space' (although the movie does actually feature way more Zombies than Vampires -- amongst which the delightful Mathilda May).

Star Trek is the only show on TV right now that consistently deals with important philosophical questions such as morality or the way that science and new technologies should play in our lives. This extends into and improves every aspect of our lives, from smart phones, to the civil rights movement. Star Trek has embodied fully all the technocentric enlightenment notions that make up the American constitution, and hence, stands as one of the most important cultural propositions of the democratic American experiment. Being set in a post-apocalyptic world, it even sets a standard to which to aspire in the face of titanic failure, great injustice, and the long term survival of the human species.

This is Whoopie at her best. For whatever reason she seems to of become bitter and angry (maybe because of the venue she is a part of). Perhaps and hopefully her latest situation will enable her to step back and do some soul searching and come to terms with why she has seemingly (emphasis on seemingly) become so irritated and unhappy with people and life. Her smile is beautiful and I so want her to genuinely feel and want to express it more... Watching the video of The View when Patrick Stewart asks her to be in his latest show as Guinan again, her reaction is pure happy Whoopie.
