Wow would love this hanging from my ceiling. Had two of the plastic kits on the ceiling in the 70's when I was a kid. Used to be an argument as to whether the ship was battleship gray or white. Some of the show scenes it looked gray and others it looked white. Even if it's white, the old plastic model should have been painted to look more matte in tone. Didn't know until a few days ago that these models existed. Wow such a fantastic and beautiful discovery, thank you.

Very nice! I'm going to build another one as well but doing all my own lighting. And I'm going to install a switch so I can turn the motors off and a pot to control speed. My other build is with the polar lights kit. Two steroids started flickering and one in my neck burned out already. I just completed the refit and what I difference when YOU control the lighting. I bought the motors on Amazon 13 bucks .. roll of strip lights 9.99 and tenacontrol nav/strobe board 45 bucks. The other enterprise I'm going to unplugged the engines and make it the mirror enterprise.

Cool - looking forward to see how things go with your Arduino lighting. I've been working on that myself - right now I'm working on lighting an original Viper. I use the micro Arduino in the models themselves, much smaller and cheaper, and they have been very reliable. I also use what they call NeoPixels (basically a chain of RGB LEDs that you can control each one individually) and they're very easy to set up and configure for any color or luminance value.

This looks great. So barring any bad LEDs or bad power output. The LED's are probably lighted to the scale of the ship. Which is how it should be. So many builders add the light kits and the result is every single light really over powering the model.

When I bought mine it was ordered before the kit actually came out the same as the lighting kit that was made for it the model kit itself was the thickest plastic I ever saw the first day I washed all the parts like they recommended and fit all of the parts to see how difficult it was going to be and everything fit together so well that a little painters tape you could hold the model together well so basically you could see a full unglued model that could be rested on a table and that help someone who had ordered a version that was this size light properly and except for the l.e.d.s that they used where more like what the movie model had in there white lights where a slight blue ting I haven't at that time 13 years ago since I made real cheap kits and had no model painting or seem filling at all plus I never build anything that came with a lighting kit I used tools that I had on hand and files that where not really ment for this kind of precision so I had to purchase somethings and improvise others they had a club you could entire that had so many kits available and the only difference was the box art and parts to make three different versions pilot 2 pilot then series model with I wanted anyway the idea was the first that applied would receive there model early and get a gold t shirt with a certificate of number the second wave was the same but the certificate that hag tiger numbers and a blue t shirt and the last would be the same with a red t shirt I was informed that I missed out by five so I waited meanwhile polar light was up and running a press conference was held and show on u tube that all dies had been made and prototypes where exactly like the Smithsonians that luckily was being unboxed looked over photographed and even x rated the model was packed carefully and stored in a way that would keep it in the shape it was in when stored. For me it was goog that I hadn't gotten it early because the people that did where pro's at everything involved the painting was examined bu the Smithsonian down thrue the years and polar lights went all out to get the best people they had in all of the areas even how it was reto fit for lighting after the model was made and what would be the port side of the original ll foot model and that side could now longer be filmed because electricians Han to run the power in a place that could access all the places that Desi lu studios and gene Roddenberry thought lights and effects would be they even wanted more but it would be impossible unless the model was scraped and a new one made exactly the same way but certain things would not allow the fixtures to be installed in the original form and everyone especially the budget the cost would not be authorized on a show that first pilot was black balled only for the fact that Lucy herself was interested in the show and was fighting the network for another chance this deep in everyone who's more than just a fan would no and the rest wouldn't care the pl0t of the first pilot wasn't all that bad but in 1964 executives at NBC didn't like a woman as second in command and an audience in those days would feel the same and the guy with the ears would have to go. Back to the model I order as soon a

Unfortunately one of the colors Trekworks used in his TOS colors doesn't seem to be produced anymore. The Folkart Jade Green seems impossible to find, and is no longer in their catalog on the website. I bought 4 or 5 greens the other day and so far haven't been thrilled with any of them as substitutes yet. I continue to experiment.

@@theensignschair I mixed some XF12 and flat white today and compared it to my mix of the heather grey and Folkart Faded Jade. I think it's workable. I haven't made the exact color of the XF12, but I've made something reasonably close. Unfortunately it's one of those things that I started with a ratio, but had to keep adding more of each in and now I couldn't tell you what the ratio is. I just kept going til it started feeling right. I used an empty Anita's bottle for the mic and it's 3/ 4 full of something approximating XF12 lightened with white.

I felt the same way i was very unhappy with the light that came up thrue those colored navigation lights they should have made another set of flashing l.e.d.s red and green like the tena controll kit had the way mine are the red one isnt to bad but the gr Een cant be seen in a light room even in the complete darkness there still week the two flasher aft by the hanger bay are nice i know there white but more flashing lights look better the clear lights under the red and green on the saucer are nice and strong. also the moyors for the fans spins way to fast they have addressed that in the new kit by gearing the motors and they did a much better job on those soldierless connector i ended up spldiering mine on the original kit S
