Hey, real life american truck driver here. The characters in this game are very reminiscent of trucker culture back in the eighties and into the nineties. Sadly, modern American trucker culture isn't quite this fun anymore.

@KenetorTV So we do very much still use CB Radios, but we've mostly moved away from handles (nicknames) and trucker jargon. But I've had plenty of great conversations with other drivers, and made some great friends while on the road. So it's not all gone!

can they do anything right in starfield? they had since launch to add this new car, first day its out its broken as all hell and needed mods to fix! So im happy this can deliver some fun instead, the devs are super passionate for it and it shows in the little details in game!

I hate how in Starfield when you're in the cockpit you have multiple screens in front of you but they still make you use a HUD instead of showing all your power allocations, shield etc on those screens smh. Starfield would be so much cooler if they would have made their cockpits more like this game is

I feel this SHOULD be multi-player. Like American/Euro truck sims

It would certainly be a different game if it were multiplayer, but i dont think it would add much to just adding more players. It would need completely new designed elements around it. Also don't forget it was made by just 2 guys!

American truck driver here! Real life drivers definitely weren’t as nice in real life! The atmosphere in this game is definitely top tier, I just wish there were some in between zones so that you can really get some use out of that cruise control. You can tell someone on the dev team drove because all of the different load types are analogous to different types of freight in the real world. Altogether the game is great.

I feel like this was a missed opportunity for Elite Dangerous, space legs should have included your ship and being able to repair your ship in first person, these guys definitely scratching an itch a lot of people have lol. Looking forward to playing this though I'm kind of tired of playing early access games, might buy it on discount now to check it out and come back in a few months and hopefully it doesn't go in the way of KSP 2 :D

yeah but Elite has had such a strange development cycle, not to mention the mis management and wasted potential. Its gonna have to be a new game to pick up where elite left off and do it better and ill be looking forward to that one!

This isn’t an early access title. It was a regular 1.0 release. I’ve got 12 hours and only real bug I experienced was an invisible barrier

ya know i was low key hoping for a variety of rigs to choose from later down the line or maybe you upgrade to them as a way of customisation since its not quite a good fit for a modular system, you could at least choose a style then

I really do not understand why joystick/xinput and rebinding support is so often an afterthought. It's a cardinal sin of game development, especially on PC, that every game dev knows. And yet a robust input system is seldom implemented, or used. Most game engines even offer tools for that.

yeah the lack of keybinding is mighty puzzling but hoping we get it fast along wit joystick support. Id love to bind everything to hotas, that would feel awesome to play!

@@UltraCasualPenguin And? Those two even stated thier love for the space sim gerne. Which makes it even more puzzeling IMO. This happens to 99% because devs use functions like "if button down" or similar and inadvertently hardwire inputs that way. This is completely avoidable since as mentioned most engines have a abstraction layer that automatically deals with that for you. You don't directly get a nice UI that way but a config file is better than nothing. I logged now about 3h in the game and have couple of dents because I borked with the controls. Changing some binds would make my life so much easier. I really hope they deliver fast. Imagine driving a forklift in binary... You wouldn't do that wouldn't you? Albeit, I do know people who treat the gas pedal as binary, regardless of vehicle driven 😑

Silly how they keep truck design in space, so I passed the demo. But now I think it might be silly in the way Rebel Galaxy is and I enjoyed that vibe greatly so I will put it on list for later. Right now, I am looking into trying X4: Foundations.

it is silly but its a design choice, its not like they "got it wrong", its just part of the suspension of disbelief within the game, ya know like being in space and having warp gates! I get it might not be for you because of that but id still recommend it. I really want to dive into X4 and give it a go since the latest update, I've generally avoided games with lots of DLC, it gives me red flag signals on the quality of the base game. But i do hear more and more to check it out!

I can understand that, but i do think it strikes a good middle ground, without it might end up too niche for some. For the price the length is ok but i definitely wanted a bigger game from this, perhaps you can give a look if you find it on sale as its still worth a play :)

Game fun but controls are a pain. Not having strafing movement is just weird and I played a lot of space games. Also when you make turns your rig tilts. So you have to make micro adjustments after a turn just to straight. I wish DA (Driving Assist) would do that automatically. I just started the game and I image it will come with practice but dam. Also you can’t recharge power cells….why?

its not just that it tilts, the space highways are twisted too, its a bit wierd! yeah the lack of recharge option is a missed opportunity for an upgrade, not only that the pricing for the larger capacity ones is straight up frustrating, like i get it but the premium is so high!

I actually tested this out, you get "recovered" which then pay a fine for, they fix your ship and bring you back to the same place you buy upgrades from. As for not paying, i have no idea! sorry

Nice you made a disclaimer for Americans that this truck game is in space, or else the Americans would probably sue you. They are brilliant when it comes to firearms but standard thinking and common sense not so much.

It was great when I figured out you could zoom it out. The default was way too close in, but it's fine fully zoomed out. I think it's clicking in right analogue stick on Xbox.
