this game has gone from being a super fun game to an ok game, the previous map let you explore more and build much faster than you do now. very displeased that they changed the map, and that I lost all my saved cities that had built in 845 hours, will no longer spend my time on this game. but for the rest of you who like this type of game, it's worth a try.
@MichelleS-GamerКүн бұрын
They need to bring back old saves like a legacy map. I’m sad they took away the exploration. That was probably the most exciting thing and made better sense for all the terraforming gun upgrades that now feels a little pointless.

@robbedoflife182815 күн бұрын
Its an elevator simulator now. Any exploration that used to exist before the update is gone and the game is no longer enjoyable. Rather than having a really large map that I could traverse I have teeny tiny mini maps separated by an elevator with absolutely no exploration anymore. The devs destroyed the game and should just hand out refunds because it's no longer the game we all originally paid for 😠
@KenetorTV15 күн бұрын
thats a tad overly dramatic, and i understand you liked the massive map style it used to have, but thats what you sign up for with early access games, you purchased an unfinished game. the devs switched to this for good reason it serems and at the end of the day its a factory game not an exploration game.
@robbedoflife182814 күн бұрын
Its not over dramatic and there was no good reason for the change. As a matter of fact the game works worse now and crashes every 10 minutes once you get to sierra. And what I bought before was a factory exploration game it's not even close to being what I paid for. It's a trash game now.have fun trying to get through all that sand in the later maps especially when you don't have room to move around because the maps are so tiny 😅

when you have games like Satisfactory that show you can have central catalog that shows all versions of the recipes in one place that makes things alot easier, its OK to learn and use these ideas. I whole heartedly agree. It is mostly minor nitpicks by now. Also, man be glad you hadn't to deal with 2x2x2 cores in pre-release... That was atrocious. On the plus side the platforms had no height limits besides the world boundary. But it's way better now.

And we have the game's launch price, which is US$20 *BUT* with a 25% discount so it's actually $15 (for me, it's $30 discounted to $22.50 because the moneys here aren't worth as much). So a bit higher price point than FTL on launch, but given the nature of the market, it's not too surprising to see. Also, given that the Steam client is about to hit 5 years of being a known health risk for some of us, it's probably worth pointing out that the game isn't Steam exclusive. it's also available on GOG and Epic, so for those of us with reasons to avoid supporting a company who seem to be going out of their way to try and steal the "worst company in gaming" title from whichever other scumbags are currently holding onto it (probably Ubisoft), there are other less horrible options (yes, I'm saying Epic is less horrible than Steam, I wish I wasn't serious).

I like space games and card games. I played the demo and while i love the concept and i think the game looks great, i found the gameplay just lackluster and pretty monotonous. Weapons do not feel that different or interesting, getting new cards never felt like i was getting new abilities or unlocking new gameplay options or synergies. Rewards are disappointing and almost never enough to do more at the shops than just repair. And the special abilities your crew get are limited use (which is fine if it was just each battle but they recharged so slow they were almost pointless) and not a massive influence on the battles. Possibly all these issues get better later in the game but for me the beginning of the game was too boring to slog through to get to that point. I think i am going to pass on this one for now anyway, play some FTL and wait for more development. Good review, keep them up
@KenetorTV2 ай бұрын
I think you played the same older demo that i did which gave me the very same vibes, the crew abilities now refresh by 1 for each crew per map point moved to so can be used far more often. for weapons i think there are 6 or 7 types but plenty of variation in the cards that each provide. Im not sure if they added a little more content to the demo but the systems were updated, and id at least recommend another shot at it, but waiting could also be the right choice for you, especially with the lack of content in terms of ship variation and only 2 maps, but certainly keep an eye on it as we also find out price tomorrow. They also made a big post about current and future content here: store.steampowered.com/news/app/2118810/view/4691151906576922184

Wanted to say great review and very well done. I do think however that you should have mentioned the progression bug being fixed earlier in the video, I was contemplating taking it off my wishlist until you mention that it was in fact fixed at a much later point in the video than the literal opener to talking about the game as it very well could be a dealbreaker for most people who might click off the video after thinking that it is still an issue.

@@FatalExit yup im aware this is a publisher issue, its definately something i want to bring up with them because an important part of a review is relaying value to potential players and its very hard to do without a price! You may be right about bug fix update but when you have spent half a day editing timing of clips all over, you dont want to completely screw that up and cause more work, and thats the situation i faced. And i wish more people would watch the whole video and get the whole opinion i give because if i could have made it shorter i would have! I try and cut everything non relevant as much as i can but this one was a bit on the long side. Also while bugs can be bad, they CAN be fixed, brokjen core gameplay can not, at least not easily, and thats an important distinction. and it doesnt men you cant come back for 1.0 if you decide on skipping the EA launch too :)

Well, saying that allowing transaction between players against real money is only useful to the studio that takes a fee is false... Today if I buy a spaceship in EVE Online for 20$ let say, this spaceship cost me 20$, whatever happens, even if I stop playing this game or don't use my purchase anymore But if I'm able to sell it second hand, I'll maybe sell it for 12$, the studio will take 1$ commission for exemple, so I'll get back 11$. This spaceship then only cost me 9$, it is obvious to me that the player benefits from it + The whole point for EVE to use blockchain, is not only to facilitate real money transactions between players, it's also to build a game where the state of the world is not stored on their private and centralized server, but on blockchain, a public, decentralized server. What does it means? Well, it means that even if CCP closes its doors and shuts their servers, the whole freaking state of the game won't vanish as it's the case with every other games! So you're assured that every hour and every penny that you spent on the game won't be useless even 60 years from now, whatever happens to CCP, isn't that awesome? It will also allow any developer in the world to build features on top of the game (as long as it doesn't clash with the rules defined by the core logic of the game), cause remember, a blockchain is like a PUBLIC server, anyone can see what happens there and build on it. So the game will constantly evolve, even if CCP disappears. That's basically what we call a metavers, an open and persistent world online. I hope that I made the use of blockchain tech in gaming more clear, cause I'm studying it since 3 years now, and I really think that it can bring online experiences to the next level
@KenetorTV2 ай бұрын
thanks for the mansplain but you are not buying anything for $ your buying a blockchain currency then using that to buy things, that a small but very important difference. And yes you might be able to sell on your ship after, but thats just recovering loss from an already HORRENDOUS game design, real world currency should not be involved in game systems. normalising this is cancer, play to earn is cancer, having games become jobs (especially in developing countrys) is cancer. Games, competitive like eve or otherwisem are entertainment and should stay that way! As for any "metaverse" this will never happen, and thinking it will shows an IMMENSE lack of understanding on how games are made.
@YoanGJ2 ай бұрын
@@KenetorTV Man, I'm just respectfully trying to explain why I don't agree with you. I call this "arguing," and that's how I usually learn from people who don't share my point of view. Sorry to see that you saw it as mansplaining. That being said, I don’t understand how buying in-game assets with crypto instead of plain dollars makes a significant difference. Crypto is just a proxy here, as it's easier and faster to exchange between players. But at the end of the day, once your asset is sold, you can swap your crypto for dollars. Maybe you could expand on your thoughts? Every modern multiplayer game involves real-world currency, but currently, it only flows one way: from your pocket to the studio's pocket. With blockchain games, money is free to circulate: • From player to player: In Skyweaver, for example, I can win a rare cosmetic by playing the game for free, and another player who doesn’t want to spend time grinding can buy it from me. • From studio to player: In Axie Infinity, if you're good enough to climb the seasonal leaderboard, you can earn thousands of dollars in cash prizes. This can be a good way for aspiring esports players to start their careers. Does this mean blockchain will fix bad game design? Absolutely not. If your game design and economy are poorly executed, blockchain won't magically fix it. But the point is, blockchain isn't the problem-many games have bad design and economy without using blockchain. I agree with you that games are primarily entertainment-at least, that's true for me. I don't play games to make a living; I play them to relax with friends or to enjoy amazing solo adventures. But I also understand that not everyone enjoys games for the same reasons I do. If someone enjoys games by being competitive, I wouldn’t yell at them, "STOP TRY-HARDING, YOU SHOULD ENJOY GAMES FOR THE SAME REASONS I DO." Similarly, if someone plays games only to collect PlayStation trophies or Xbox achievements, I wouldn't say they shouldn't do that just because it’s not fun for me. I also know for a fact that playing to earn money in Axie Infinity saved lives in the Philippines during the pandemic. Who am I to tell a Filipino they shouldn't play that game for money? As for your last point about my supposed lack of understanding of how games are made because I think metaverses are a thing, you might want to call CCP and tell them they don’t know how games are made either. Because that's exactly what they're planning to do with EVE: Frontier-a shared persistent world, in their own words.
@climatecypher2 ай бұрын
