People forget what a crazy looking spaceship that was when it first appeared on the big screen. The idea of solar sails was proposed for real life space craft, so made its way into the film. The Rebel ships were just as strange, impossibly front heavy. The opening wings were a novelty and surprise. Sadly, there were no TIE fighter kits at the time. Only Darth Vader's ship was available. We all wanted a TIE but settled for the next best thing.

I recall anxiously waiting for the release of the first XWing and Vader kits back in the day. Always wanted the tie fighter as well but it took yeara for one to be released as a model kit. Am definitely looking forward to working on this one. Absolutely love the SWars designs.

I would guess that the reason why the decal and paint guys are coming on the box is because that way they can do it in the full color without having to go to the huge expense to have a color manual.

I'm amazed AMT put out something worth buying.

I hear ya, lol, but Its not the old AMT u and I remember. Just AMT in name. The folks running Round2 are doing some fantastic work. They just sell this under the AMT name.

Looks like a great kit! I have the same problem with the hot garage hobby bench. Hot and muggy here in SD right now.

I started mine today. So much of a step up in accuracy and molding from typical sci-fi kits. More expensive, but you won't need putty or much sanding!!! Hope a lighting kit becomes available, I hate to do the lighting by hand with a soldering iron

Nice…yeah by the looks of it, not much seam filling. Appreciate the comment.

AMT definitely upped their game on this kit however that Pilot looks a little weak compared to the rest of the kit. I'm sure someone will do a 3D PRINT upgrade for the Pilot . I was hoping for clear red parts for the triangular wall details inside the cockpit . I think that could easily remedied. I may make some after market parts for that. I think lighting those would be a cool touch. I'm sure this is going to be a very anticipated build Oggy .

Yeah...I agree, the pilot figure is weak. Looking forward to seeing your modifications. Thanks for watching

I'm waiting to start on mine until next year as well. My main reason is that I want to see the photoetch that is mentioned on the instructions and box art. I know that it will have the triangular panels, represented on the decal sheet, and hopefully a nice large panel for the floor, to help light block that huge clear piece. I may get the wing panels glued together, and paint them a nice flat black, and then work on the frames and the rest of the kit, next year.

Would love to get one of these but they're just silly money IMHO. Hopefully the price will come down once they start becoming widely available in the UK. Regardless a crackin' review as always.

Is this studio scale?
@InterstellarModeler10 ай бұрын
I dont think so. I imagine they constructed miniatures of various scales. The ones I’ve seen on display at different exhibitions throughout the years were larger. This just claims to be accurate with details. Thanks for watching
@JimPaulJr10 ай бұрын
This is not studio scale, they are calling it studio series due to the fact that it has very accurate detail as the filming models. The actual studio scale filming models were 1/24th scale.
