"Maul: End Game" is a short story written by James Luceno. It was first published in the new edition of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace from Del Rey on January 31, 2012.
Story Summary:
Set during the events of Episode I, the story follows Maul’s mission to Naboo to oversee the Neimoidian conquest of the planet. Disgusted by the Neimoidians incompetence, Maul ventures into the swamps of the planet to find the hidden Gungan cities, lest the armed indigents prove a threat.
During his search, he comes across Captain Magneta, King Veruna’s former head of security, living in self-imposed exile in a simple shed in the forests. Magneta tells Maul that she believes Veruna was killed by a Muun financier, Hego Damask, a political ally of Senator Palpatine. From this Maul infers that Damask was Darth Sidious’s Sith Master. The story ends with Obi-Wan defeating Maul by using his lightsaber to slice him in two.
