@@timothyhouse1622 I'm not sure at that point. Obi Wan is old, but not that old. Plus some aliens have longer lifespans than humans. Plus I don't think many people in the cantina were fans of the Empire, so maybe that's another reason why no one challenged Obi Wan.

Mostly this has fallen under the Disney Star Wars brand. They, for some reason, REFUSE to have aliens in it and when they put them in they're in the background and have no major relevance. I always imagined from my childhood that the bar owner and punters knew of obi wan kenobi and kept their mouths shut that he was a Jedi. Hence their reactions

He changed his name from Obi-Wan Kenobi to Old Ben Kenobi, so if he was a regular, they knew.

Doubtful, he's a Jedi and Bounty hunters constantly frequented the Cantina. Pretty sure if they knew their mouths would be watering at the prospect of getting their pockets full with Imperial credits

The first time you realized Obi Wan was not to be toyed with. This is nothing close to the person we see in the Obi Wan Disney series.

It's interesting to see now because I think he ends this way - content with looking after Luke until the moment comes for him to be ready (Leia's message in R2) and he knew the time had come, while laying low as Ben Kenobi again and not afraid to take out his skills again to keep peace. Darth Vader by this point wasn't gonna touch him, kept the Empire quiet until news of the death star emerged.

I love the way everyone just so casually goes back to their drinks after that . Also Alec Guinness was brilliant in that role.

That's because he now knows that unless Vader is at the head of an army or it is both Sith together, there isn't anyone anywhere he cannot handle.

Alec guiness was pure swagger in this film...he said he wasnt sure about the script at first but he made this part what it was....he was serious and a gentleman...polished and worldly....i always....always admire him in this role and my hat goes off to him......wherever he may be in the force.

To me, this is one of the best shot scenes in all of Star Wars the way Obi-Wan doesn’t even hesitate to activate his light saber the noise of the old light saber, activating and cutting through stuff. The classic noise is the best light saber the camera angle he cut the dudes off it back-and-forth but when he was falling, he screamed was just sitting there like he’s never seen violence like that ever one of my favorite scenes.

I love Luke's slack-jawed reaction to this. You can tell this is the exact moment he realized Obi-Wan wasn't just a "strange old hermit," and he'd better start taking this whole Jedi thing seriously.
