This ep, and the show in general, are honestly kinda bumming me out. Not because it isn't good, it's fantastic, but because it's pretty apparent now that Filloni had big plans for Baylen that we're just not going to get the real payoff for. Dave's very smart and knows this shit better than anyone (including Lucas himself, imo) and he'll figure out something, but the universe has robbed us of a great character, a brilliant actor, and (by all accounts) a wonderful man.

But I think his story will be more or less wrapped up next week, he is just Skoll, the wolf chasing the sun, he’s at the end of the myth, when one wolf spilts from the other

If the list on Baylan's wrist was a close up shot and not seen from a wide camera shot then you could take that list seriously because they're putting emphasis on it but since it's a wide shot they just needed text for the screen and someone decided to make a fun list.

Hm, Tim saying he doesn’t vibe w Ahsoka this episode is weird considering this is the most Clone Wars Ahsoka she has acted in the whole show. Very joke heavy and ready to jump to the rescue. She was totally deflecting Sabine’s situation for the moment to reunite with Ezra and the little laugh she does is heartwarming and felt like a genuine moment.

I'm with Tim, I understand where he's coming from with Ahsoka. I haven't vibed with her in live action much at all, and I really think it comes down to Rosario Dawson. I really like her as an actress, I just don't think she fits Ahsoka very well honestly

I don't believe Baylan wants lasting power in that sense. He wants finality. He wants an end to the cycle of violence and destruction. I feel like the power he wants is freedom. True freedom. Freedom from the will of the force and its endless balancing of the scales. And whether for weal or woe, republic or empire, that to him is preferable to continuing the perpetual rise and fall the galaxy is stuck in; this eternal battle between the light and the dark that consumes everything around it.

I think Tim needs to realize he is wrong here (why everyone disagrees with him) and while I can understand the disconnect of the emotional connection to Ahsoka like so many of us have having known her for years but that doesn't mean the reunion and all the other parts of her character are wrong or not what they should be. The reunion and all of their interactions were absolutely perfect. The negativity towards Ahsoka as a character brings me back to the dark days of early Clone Wars lol.

I definitely feel the power creep complaints. Most of the new Star Wars doesn’t feel like the same universe as the original trilogy. It feels tangentially related, because lightsabers and all the fucking characters are always present, but it doesn’t feel like Star Wars. Closest it came was Andor, and that also felt completely different (in a good, no force here way).

Tbf, that’s how it was in the EU. There was danger, the original trio tried to warn them, they were ignored and had to fix the problem themselves. Not saying it’s great storytelling, but it’s practically a trope in Star Wars at this point

I feel jealous I love this show so much but that last couple eps have been more down for me because ive never been a fan of ezra but Im willing to give the new actor a try. I just want more Sabine and Ahsoka interactions 😭 So sad its ending. I think the end definitely has to be a call back to sabine feeling abandoned by ahsoka and healing that wound (ie ahsoka not leaving her behind or ahsoka being the one left behind).

The thing that I got in my mind was that the Sequel trilogy lacks two major things… Mon Monthma and Coruscant. We see Hosnian Prime being the temporary center of the New Republic by that area and being it cycling though several other planets… what if the end result of the Thrawn campaign is the destruction of a main part of coruscant and killing off Mon… that would be the most brutal way to have this upcoming conflict

Baylon was trying to break the cycle so maybe he's looking for a way to destroy the cycle of skywalkers because they have been the balance in the galaxy on both the light and dark side.

I agree with Tim about Ahsoka in the series. It seems like her best force power is that she knows she has plot armor. In an earlier episode her plan for attacking the hyperspace ring was to fly towards it and get shot at until things work out. And in this episode, every time a dog fight starts she doesn't seem concerned. Even when she's chased into a debris field that Huyang says is un-navigate-able (which I know is classic Star Wars) Ashoka doesn't seem phased. Then when she jumps out of the ship she tell Huyang to just fly around for a while as if he doesn't have 3 ships trying to shoot him down. I understand she trusts in the force that everything is going to work out but as a viewer it's boring if there's no tension
