It absolutely breaks my heart that the crapfests that are Obi-Wan & The Book of Boba Fett both have more viewers than this show. Even worse, there are people who think those shows are better & that Andor is ‘slow’ and ‘boring.’ I honestly can’t understand it. This should be the biggest Star Wars series in terms of viewers & ratings and it shouldn’t be close.

I think it's really interesting that the Empire unknowingly already has Cassian in custody while desperately looking for him. Shows how difficult it must be to organise a galaxy-wide government and/or how bad the Empire is at it.

@@PanGuy_makes sense if you really think about it. Under the Republic the different systems administered their own. I can see how hard it would be to seamlessly integrate everything together, we can barely do that within 1 company today. The Morlana system only just came under complete control, even in the original trilogy they're still consolidating power. Still is humorous.

Not revealing what the sound that Bix is being tortured with is a phenomenal creative decision because it leaves the sound up to viewers’ imagination/nightmares. Now imagine if in universe the Empire put as much effort into looking through their own bureaucracy to find Cassian as they do with creative torture methods 🙃

9:15 it’s also pretty cool because in the scene in A New Hope where they show the imperial meeting where Vader force chokes that one dude, Tarkin mentions that Palpatine had just announced that he had completely dissolved the Senate permanently. So it’s cool to see the crumbling of the Senate in these scenes in Andor, leading up to Palpatine completely doing away with it in A New Hope

This arc might be my favorite thing in Star Wars, with this episode maybe being my favorite in this series. I love the growing tension throughout the episode about what happened on level 2, and Kino trying to keep everyone under control. And then it all builds up to the death of Olaf, we learn nobody is getting out and then Kino finally answers Cassian's question. Kino slowly losing his mind over the course of the episode is so cool. But now everyone is united and there is only One Way Out!

What this show did to flesh out the Empire is astounding. It proved that they truly can be smart, cunning, and calculated. Torturing someone with the literal death sounds of children is so twisted and sadistic and yet another thing that lets us actually understand how much of a force they were at this point in the timeline.

I cannot explain how “never more than 12” had my heart pumping when this aired. The amount of tension they are able to build in such a short time while telling other stories as well. Just a masterclass in script writing (let alone the acting, the music, the production design, costumes, etc) I Just cannot understand how anyone thinks this show isn’t good. It’s a shame that the prevailing sort of culture is to praise all action all the time but not to have the patience for taking time to craft character and story. Incredible show. I’ll have to do a rewatch for sure

From a writers standpoint, the idea of being tortured with an alien screaming from pain that are actually kids screaming and the fact of the prison being a big competition and those who don’t win get shocked, and the fact that your release is just being transferred to another level. You disobey get shocked, etc etc, it’s absolutely horrific but the same time, got to give the writers credit for coming up with something brilliant Also side note love how we never get the sound of screaming we just have our imaginations do that part and we all had the same reactions, waiting, cringing as we await the sound! Prior to the Aldhani Heist, prisoners who reached the end of their sentences on Narkina V were _actually_ released, but this process was terminated in its aftermath. Furthermore, when maintaining the illusion that the prisoners were still being released, they would be sent to a different prison, presumably one whose inmates were solely comprised of "released" prisoners, and probably work on less precise tasks such as mining raw materials. What happened to the prisoner on Level 4 was a fluke, and he accidentally got sent to another level in the same prison, namely Unit 2-5. This was the pair of shifts that were wiped out, but the rest of the rooms on Level 2 were still functional, though Units 2-4 and 2-6 were presumably able to see what had happened from across their skybridges.

This torture method is so messed up. It affects you mentally, as you constantly think about that being the Sound of dying children. It affects you physically, as the frequency causes extreme pain and damages the brain. And then there's how the scene is done. There's the music that gets louder and louder and as the torture begins it cuts off and the only thing you hear is Bix's heavy breathing, plus they don't show how it sounds. This show is so good, it's unbelievable

Yes, the way Andor stole the starpath is how he's confident the guards are not listening to them. We know that the prisoners have not been told that the PORD extended their sentences. I agree that they normally released prisoners as expected. But because PORD required all sentences extended, the prison officials made an _ad hoc_ decision to just shuffle them instead of releasing them. The PORD also increases the overall prison load, and they've given us clues that the prison staff is being overwhelmed by the number of prisoners. As the door slammed on Bix's interrogation, that scene was set up to mirror the door closing on Leia's interrogation in A New Hope.
@terpdx

The folks who didn't like this show were the ones who only equate "Star Wars" with Sith, Jedi, and lightsabers. 'Andor' is the Star Wars show made for adults whose brains continued to mature after the last of the prequels was released, and who can sit still long enough to watch an hour of television without needing to take TikTok breaks every 10 minutes. This show is exactly what the Star Wars franchise needed to break the monotony of people in hooded robes, speaking in riddles, and twirling glow sticks. That side of the Star Wars universe is essential lore, but you can only see so much of it over and over before it begins to go stale.

Everyone gets it wrong. He said it was a mistake. They sent a prisoner from level 4, to level 2. It's not that they want to keep it a secret that nobody gets out. All they'd have to do is get the man, say it was a mistake, and be done with it. Why kill the whole floor?
@ISavant
@ISavant Жыл бұрын
Because that one prisoner that they accidentally sent back into the same prison can go "hey guys i just came from 4, I was supposed to be released and they just recycled me, like they recycling everybody. There's no escape" and now there's 100 men with nothing to lose who want out. the mistake was putting him back into the same facility, so when he got to his new destination he'd already know the processes and systems from that prison, so when he said "i'm not supposed to be here, i was supposed to be released", the other prisoners would believe him, hence the problem. If they just ship every prisoner off to a new prison afterwards then everybody can disregard the "new" prisoner's complaining about not being released, but because they accidentally sent one back into the same facility (Because we know Andor's facility is understaffed, they made a big deal of it when he came in) it let word get out.

Couple thoughts.. first the torture of Bizx and PaK (not shown) is why Luthen and Cleya need him gone, they know the Em pire has no restriction in extracting info. Bix told what she knew as did Pak. I don't think they handled that conversation great (one of my few complaints in this amazing show) as Cleya comes off cold and ruthless rather than understandably guarded. As for the prisoner - going back to this facility was a mistake. It's likely that prisoner was meant for a different sort of facility/location rather than just a different floor.
