Star Wars Armada - Clone Wars Commander Tier List

A few people requested I do the CIS and GAR tier list together, so here we go!

Quick Note: I made a mistake with Luminara's ability. She cannot ready a squad's defense token unless that squad is defending. She can refresh a ship's defense token if another ship/squad is defending, but a squad can only ready its defense token if IT is defending. Thanks to Vimes for bringing it to my attention!

@@Lewismarty1 Sure! So let's say Sloane squad rolls an acc and they spend your redirect. Let's say next squad rolls a hit. You can take the hit and then refresh your redirect since you didn't spend any defense tokens this attack (less than 2). So the only reliable way for Sloane to discard any of your defense tokens is to roll at least 2 accuracies in a row. Otherwise, you can keep refreshing whichever one she spent previously.

@@kilivanjg2813 Sloane is an Imperial commander! She is the commander that allows squads to use accuracies to spend the defender's defense tokens.

I am glad to see my favorite CIS commander make top-tier. TF is probably the CIS commander I've flown the most and he's powerful. I think Kraken is my second-rank CIS commander, but only because I've only flown Mar Tuuk once and wasn't as excited about his ability. If I'm CIS, most of my ships roll a lot of Red dice, and I'm happier with the ability to fix them with Kraken than I am to add another one. Again, I've not played Mar Tuuk much yet, so I am definitely open to changing my mind on this!

I love Plo Koon with mixed fighter(mostly because at the time I only had the one squad pack) For my aces I use axe, luminara, y-wing anakin, and switch off between oddball and ahsoka.

I think I put TF over Lumi, just cause he mostly gets around thermals which are her chief shenanigans. Great vid as always! Can't wait for the next one!

Only reason I put TF below Lumi is because you have to spend 21+ points on rocket troopers to get good use out of him.

Lol third comment here today - (so glad I found this channel!) Can Lumi spend her brace to trigger thermals, then spend no other defense tokens and thus refresh her brace? Does the use of the brace for thermals prevent it from being refreshed by that same attack?

So spending the brace still counts as spending a defense token. So she could not spend the brace for thermals and then refresh it during the same attack. She can brace for thermals on one attack and then if she is attacked again, she can refresh the brace, but only after spending defense tokens.

From my experience with throughout the playtest phase for the republic expansions, I think it’s extremely unlikely that we ever see CIS/GAR rogue squadrons or flotillas Your recent success with rogues has inspired me to dive back into rebels but unfortunately I don’t think we see those options for the prequel factions

Glad I could be of some inspiration! The only reason I think the GAR may get rogues is because one of the Venator titles specifically mentions rogues. Could just be future-proofing but it makes me think at least at some point they thought about rogues.

@@Shyvalry if you’re thinking of Triumphant, it mentions flotillas but not Rogues IIRC. I’d love to see both flotillas and rogues brought to the GAR personally! If the CIS don’t get them, I’m cool with that too as I play GAR and Rebels
