The Patka helmet (being replaced now) was adapted from the Bungee helmets of British and Indian paratroopers in WW2 and subsequent wars. Those were made of rubber and used extensively by the SAS and IA Para brigades. Thus, the Bungee would the original that the star wars prop was based on

@Proud Indian that ashtray is one of those helmets which can stop a 7.62 caliber bullet. The problem with patka it doesn't cover the entire head and a Little bit heavy. Originally built for the sikh light infantry so that they can wear there turban and a forehead protection ! Having a account name proud indian without a basic knowledge about patka and Calling it "inverted ashtray" basically summerize you are one of those m416 pubg warriors. I heard that they actually had real ex-military guys be extras for the entire land battle in Rogue One, which makes sense, because everyone actually takes cover, mounts weapons correctly, flushes, etc., that you just don't see executed in the background in movies. Absolutely loved how much they grounded this film.

That is why Gen Tech is king of Star Wars fan made videos . Allen is amazingly good a picking out things that are super interesting about Star Wars but are not the same old talking points other videos cover . So is Ben but Allen really sees the Star Wars universe through an artistic eye and makes the best videos about this Universe . He knows that the fiction side of Star Wars is only half of what makes Star Wars so special ! Allen like myself sees the nuts and bolts of Star Wars as part of the magic that makes it so real for all of us who love the films ! Tell your friends about Gen Tech because 100 k is just the tip of the iceberg for this channel !

Generation Tech Saddam Hussein's son, Uday, actually designed a ballistic helmet for the Iraqi Fedayeen directly off of Darth Vader. He was a huge Star Wars fan and felt that the helmets and all black uniforms would be intimidating. There are no known records of how many Iraq manufactured, but every now and then they show up as war trophies in the U.S.. As the Iraqi government fell into shambles during the Second Gulf War many of the helmets became lost to history.

I do like the authenticity of the uniforms in the OT era but in all honesty much of the designs of the original trilogy are stuck in the 70's. The original star wars could benefit from having very basic, blocky designs because that was reminiscent of industrial design at the time the movies were made. But now we're 40 years in the future and everything is far more sleek and streamlined. Thats why I enjoy the aesthetic of the prequels far more. Also the fact that everything was far more elegant in the prequels helps highlight the detriment of the Empire's ultra-utilitarian influence. I would also argue that the designs of the prequels try to push Star Wars into more fantasy than sci fi, whereas the OT designs make it feel far more sci fi by basing much of the designs on real-world clothes and machinery. Either way no one can argue that the uniforms and armor of the OT were superbly designed not only for a fictional movie but even from a functional standpoint (Save for Stormtrooper helmet visibiliy)
@GenerationTech7 жыл бұрын
+Fletcher .K that's a great breakdown of differences and strengths of design between the ot and prequels
@ReviveHF7 жыл бұрын
I have discovered the aesthetic of the sequels are basically infuenced from today‘s minimalistic Zen style, which sets them apart from the ancient exotic prequels and blocky old school industrial OT which I really like it. However, the Resistance in TFA looks very awkward, unlike the designs Galactic Republic, Rebel Alliance, Galactic Empire and the First Order. I felt that the Resistance from the sequels's uniforms and equipment should take more inspiration from current US military's personal infantry equipment, similar to what we saw in Rogue One and OT.
@andrewgu24577 жыл бұрын
Revive Hans My only big problem with prequel uniforms was the Phase I clone trooper helmets, which just looked so cheap and lazy compared to the amazing Phase II helmets.

The trouble with having life support in the xwing and not being in a space suit is they can't eject when their fighters get blown up, so if your fighter goes down it's certain death. At least with a space suit you might have a chance of being picked up. With some minimal rocket propulsion on it you could even have a bit of movement ability.

Ainsworth is a Liar. Do not buy his stuff! There's a reason why he got sued by Lucas. He did not make the molds, all he did was put the armor together. Liz Moore sculpted the Stormtrooper helmet and Brian Muir sculpted the Stormtrooper armor. Not Ainsworth! If you want the most accurate Stormtrooper armor go to RS Prop masters. Do your research. Other than that great video.
@GenerationTech7 жыл бұрын
there were two helmets one sculpted by liz more one by nick pemberton, the one that was chosen and would go on to be the stormtrooper helmet was done in cheaper red clay that was nick pemberton's. That's also why Lucas lost his lawsuit.
@robotsub7 жыл бұрын
Incorrect! if you read the lawsuit, you would know that Andrew LOST the multi million pound Cease and Desist lawsuit brought by Lucas in England. I've talked with Brian Muir personally about Andrews "job" as a costume assembler at the studio. Just because you worked there, doesn't mean you Created the designs.
@willm6877 жыл бұрын
yeah lol would be like me saying i was a costume fitter to actors and i helped with molds so i definitely designed them
@Arnie_DK7 жыл бұрын
Wyatt... YES!!! Theres a reason why Ainsworth cant sell to the US. UK laws may agree with him, because how old the film is, but he is still a LIAR! Ainsworth designed nothing! He just help build the costumes. Talked to Brian Muir personally about his. Ainsworth first claimed to have built the helmet, and then he claimed to build the armour as well! Stay far far away, from Andrew Ainsworth!

Most of the wardrobe in the original trilogy was wwii military surplus, from the fleet troopers ( the Alderaanians) used navy shirts with a big and German boots, the throne seen shown the very rare 1920s marine dress uniform ( can't remember the model off the top of my head) and the most hilarious of them all, chewy was indeed walking around with a MG42 which was for same reason a sniper rifle.

May not have the air-to-air focus of an F-15, the stealth or maneuverability of a F-22, and the Air Force never put a gun on it, but it followed the simple principle that with enough thrust you can get a brick to fly.
