@PaulsCollectibles8 ай бұрын
Ah, yes, Oscar. You and me both, brother! I have a size 8 head and many of my helmets either don't fit at all, or squeeze against my head/face/nose so bad they hurt. However, this one is HUGE! It fit my head without even opening up the strap system all the way, so it clearly will widen to a bit larger than size 8. As an observation, the entire helmet is huge in general and sitting next to my TIE Pilot helmet, it is nearly the same size. Hope this helped, my fellow big-headed friend!

I got mine the other day, pretty pleased with it. Ive always wanted a clone helmet, i got one of the first ever clone helmets the big over sized ones for kids. I do however have 2 things that are kinda annoying to me. 1. The head strap on the inside is either too small or too big when i adjust it and it doesn't lock the way mandos does when you try and look up and down. 2. The Viewfinder goes lower than what it's supposed too, it's ment to stop at eye level but stops just below at the blue line at the base of the viser. These are not major issues, they can be rectified with simple solutions like extra padding inside the top part of the helmet and evan a small whit block of something to raise the finder up a tiny bit lol bit overall still a 10/10 from me lol
@PaulsCollectibles6 ай бұрын
Both valid points, Delta! And I agree, despite the slightly lower resting angle of the viewfinder on this one, I do find it to be a minor issue. In fact, I like this setup better than the free-falling viewfinders we get on the Mando helmets. And, as you say, this is a great helmet regardless. I love the look of mine displayed with my other clone helmets for sure. Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video!

@Lord_Funk8 ай бұрын
I am still waiting for my pre-order. However I still think it's a shame that when they finally made Rex into live action, they did not look more closely at his design of the helmet. Rex modified his helmet since he prefered Phase I visor and made a combination of the Phase II and Phase I helmets. Hence the weld lines. However all through Clone Wars when he wore it, you could clearly see a weld line above the visor as well (on the lower forehead, just over the eye browses), just as visible as the other weld lines. In the short live actions sequence in Ahsoka that was missing and all you had was a bit barely visible rust there. So Hasbro has copied that helmet design from Ahsoka, resulting in it not matching with any action figure of Rex. Even on the old Black Series Rex 6 inch figure that weld line is clearly visible. I personally prefer that look, since that is what has been established for so long now and it makes more sense that he had to weld it there as well. Still I did pre-order this one, but I will also get a third party Rex helmet with that weld line, to more accurately fit the look through the Clone Wars and with most action figures. Still Hasbro did a great job, just that they used that helmet as a model to go after, rather than the actual Clone Wars helmet design. It's strange to me that that went past Dave Filoni and into Ahsoka scenes. Since he was so involved with Clone Wars that he ought to have noticed that design flaw on the live action version. Oh well.
@PaulsCollectibles8 ай бұрын
Wow! Thank you for the incredibly comprehensive comment, Lord Funk. I think you make some excellent points. Many of the other commenters agree with what you have said here. Hasbro seems to be sticking, especially with these Phase II clone helmets, with the look of them in live action. The quick cameo of Captain Rex in the Ahsoka show being the example here. I think it is jarring to many who have spent years getting used to his look, only to see this helmet which really only has a passing resemblance to the character they grew to love. I never saw too much of the animation, so I didn't have quite the attachment, but I think those making an argument they should have gone another way here is very valid! Thank you for stopping by, checking out the video, and offering your thoughts. I appreciate it!
@Lord_Funk8 ай бұрын
@@PaulsCollectibles Thank you for the video and replies. I don't mind so much that they go with the live action basic shape/mold of the helmet, rather than the more bulky cartoonish look from the animated series. After all Phase I and Phase II were originally designed this way in the prequel trilogy. It's more that I think they should have stuck with including all the details for Rex helmet that were visible in the animated series (since he was never shown in the movies, but introduced in the animated series). Like having included that weld line above the visor as well, not just the other weld lines. It looks a bit off now (kind of imbalanced) with so clearly visible weld lines below the visor, but none above it. However that is not Hasbros fault. It's whoever deigned the Rex helmet for the Ahsoka live action series missing that completely. Hasbro only copied that helmet from Ahsoka series and did an excellent job of that.

Timm, if it helps any, mine came from Big Bad Toy Store and they are still taking pre-orders. I imagine you are not in the states based upon the time you left this comment, but if you are, the link to purchase the helmet at retail will be at the end of this comment. It really is a good looking helmet and you'd be happy to have it in your collection for sure. www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/253180?o=2

Hello, Malee. They come from a ton of different makers. Here's a video that helps sort that out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4O7k4OlqJitsJYsi=9bALR4ueBFqWX81k

We need a first order tie pilot helmet from the black series
@Lord_Funk8 ай бұрын
We need original classic look Tie pilot helmet, as well as the AT-AT driver helmet and a bunch of others (I could make a long list). I do have a 3rd party original design Tie Fighter helmet. An ace or elite pilot variant with the widows tears painted on it, but I would buy a Black Series one any day if they released one. First order not so much, but each to ones own. Taste is subjective and there is no right or wrong.
@PaulsCollectibles8 ай бұрын
I agree, Greydon. In addition, there are so many other helmets Black Series could do and make a killing as well. They've proven hey can take on the detailed helmets and do them well, so here's to hoping for sure!

No idea, HVK. I did a regular pre-order like I do for most of my collectibles, and BBTS just shipped it way earlier than expected. Of course, I am very ecstatic for that bit of luck for sure!

Can you please tell me how to remove the head strap?
@PaulsCollectibles7 ай бұрын
Granit, you should be able to pop it out of the two point points inside the helmet on the side walls wher eit is attached. It's held in with two plastic tension clips, that when pulled firmly, but steadily straight out, will pop out of the receptacle well.
@Sucugam7 ай бұрын
@@PaulsCollectibles So should I just pull them out? If necessary, then with a little force? Because I'm afraid it might break.
@PaulsCollectibles7 ай бұрын
@@SucugamGranit, there is always the chance they will break, but to get them out, you just have to pull inwards with a little force. To date, I have had none of the ones I have removed break, and I have always been able to pop them right back in afterwards. However, there are no guarantees...

In universe Rex himself welded in the t visor of his p1 helmet into the p2 because he didn't like the p2
@PaulsCollectibles8 ай бұрын
Thanks, AWOL! I figured it was something like that, and I'd heard bits and pieces of something like that in the past. I will admit, that I have seen very little of the animated Star Wars, so my knowledge thereof is a little lacking. However, based upon your KZbin icon, I bet you probably know an EXTENSIVE amount about Captain Rex for sure! Thank you for checking out the video.

I never noticed until after the Ashoka show came out that there’s a whole side of the fandom that agrees that no one has made a proper live action helmet for Rex wether it’s a wearable or a toy that is actually accurate, and honestly after constantly seeing company’s somehow mess it up over and over again I can kinda get the anger, I mean there’s so much source material out there that there really should be no excuse for mix matching the different versions and styles of the helmet we’ve seen, keep the animation and irl designs separate it’s not that hard, just looks lazy on the company that produces the inaccurate Rex merch
@PaulsCollectibles8 ай бұрын
I kind of knew there were people on both sides of the "live action vs animation style" argument, but this helmet really has seemed to bring it into sharp focus. I have a Phase II based upon the CGI clones, one from Denuo Novo that matches live-action Kenobi clones, and these Phase II Black Series ones. I may have to film a video comparison to bring the differences into sharp focus.

@@PaulsCollectibles would definitely be an interesting video to watch! I’ve noticed deferent companies use different aspects too like some will have the slimmer visor piece and others will have the big chunky one like the one here that’s from animation, I will give it to hasbro for the weathering tho it doesn’t look half bad

This review has totally annoyed and killed me! I had no idea I wanted this until I've just watched your video... I was happy with my single original Boba. Now I'm not!!

Then I am both happy and sad for you, David! Haha! But be careful! These helmets are like salty snacks; it's VERY difficult to stop. I remember years ago I was just going to get ONE Stormtrooper helmet for display. Now I have close to 40 of these things from various companies, with no end in sight! haha! Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video. I am both proud and sorry that I ruined it for you! haha!

@@PaulsCollectibles You've ruined me!! I said that with Black Series figures! I'll collect a few of these, until I manage to get Empire Boba which was around my 40th? figure... I now literally have no idea to a margin of 100? how many figures I have. 500? 600? It may be 700 now? I tried to count them a couple of years ago and kept floundering around 90, which was about a quarter of the room. I gave up "gracefully" and now if anyone asks, the answer is "a room full"... "With others that are not in the room".... "And the anniversary cards, dumped in 4ft piles on the floor!"..."In another room".... Laugh emojis 😀 😆 🤣

I can’t get over the visor being stretched in height. I understand it’s for better visibility but it just looks off.
@PaulsCollectibles8 ай бұрын
Yeah, Odynic, it is definitely "unique." I think it is accurate to the character however, though, right? Didn't he cut his Phase I visor off his helmet and weld it to his Phase II helmet? I think that is what that is supposed to represent. Regardless, his is an odd clone helmet for sure!
@marksamson49908 ай бұрын
Not sure why you call these helmets toys? It is amazing though!
@PaulsCollectibles8 ай бұрын
Well, as you can see, Mark, I have a hard time with that moniker as of late. Their first helmets Hasbro produced way back a few years ago were just that: toys. When you look at that first Phase I clone trooper helmet, it was laughably inaccurate and clearly for kids. In the ensuing time period, although some castigate me for being an adult reviewing an ostensible "kids' toy" I disagree that they are that any more. You can clearly see that Hasbro has stepped up the quality and craftsmanship and I agree with your assessment more and more now: this is an adult collectible or a medium-end costume piece. So well done! Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video. I appreciate it!

Good helmet but not accurate to either the Live action or animated models.
@attilafekete78928 ай бұрын
It is probably the worst and most inaccurate black series helmet, it is literally a mix of the animated style and realistic details, instead of being based on the realistic interpretation of Rex we got In the Ahsoka series, this garbage uses the animated style visor and rangefinder from the clone wars show, wich makes no sense, as the base of the helmet has a realistic, live action shape, proportions. But the weathering is at least awesome. Edit: It is honestly sad to see that some people literally offend me just becouse I care about the quality and accuracy of the product instead of blindly ordering it. It is factually inaccurate, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't like or buy it, just don't lie to yourself, check out yourself what I am saying and you will see it too. When something is a mix of animated and realistic details it will be inaccurate to both the animated design and the live action design too. And no, cost isn't a redeeming factor, as other black series helmets cost the same amount, yet none of them is this inaccurate. This could have been a 501st level accurate helmet, they literally have access to the live action prop used in the Ahsoka series, yet they went with their own design, like if someone tried to sculpt it from memory. But I can understand hasbro, since as I can witness, people are going to buy it anyways, so why would they bother with accuracy when barely recognisable is fair enough for most people....

@PaulsCollectibles8 ай бұрын
That's a fair assessment, Attila, and I respect all opinions here on the channel. I may not have studied it as much, but I thought they did a pretty good job faithfully recreating what we got in the Ahsoka show, however brief, taking into consideration cost and the need to reuse as many parts as possible. But we do both agree that the weathering is awesome. They are really starting to figure it out after the the two fiascos that were the Artillery Trooper and the Incinerator Trooper! haha! Thank you for stopping by, checking out the video, and offering your take on the matter, I appreciate it!

Literally the exact same as the live action. The visor is the same as it's been in both live action and animated with the Phase 1 base and visor with a Phase 2 chin. It's slightly wider sure, but literally not at all an issue and probably done so you can see through it more. The rangefinder sure isn't 100% accurate but buddy... it's a toy...
@OpticBlast-yk5hf8 ай бұрын
I don’t mind the rangefinder too much, but it does look a bit out place with the rest of the helmet. The main complaint I have is with the visor area. It looks really bad.
@noncanon82468 ай бұрын
When I first saw the helmet, the blaster bolt is the 1/2 things I hate about the helmet. And the lower part of the helmet with the speaker. It’s not really accurate to the animated show, unless if they were going for the live action Rex
@PaulsCollectibles8 ай бұрын
A very astute observation, Non Canon. And I think you hit it there. This is the third version of the Phase II helmet I have acquired from Hasbro and I think you are accurate when you say they are going for more of the look we saw in Kenobi, Andor and Ahsoka for sure. These are much larger than the CGI or animated clones, and look significantly different than both of the aforementioned. However, my friend Ardeshir played one of the live action 501st clones in the Kenobi series and these Hasbro helmets are much akin to them. Thanks for checking out the video!
