The ball joint blast effect is pretty cool, kind of hope that sort of thing becomes more common instead of pegs. There's the worry that it might wear down and get loose if you monkey with it TOO much, but the same is true of pegs, and those also can potentially snap or bend more easily if they aren't thick enough or flexible enough.

Happy for you that you finally got it in hand, it’s a cracking figure! Mine has less than supertight ankle joints so he’s a bit wobbly but that’s a minor gripe. Another great ‘overview’!

I got one for my Birthday last Wednesday, found another one yesterday, almost missed it on the shelf because of how dark it was, not getting more than that though. Also found they're the hardest figures I've ever had to photograph because of how they reflect light, they caught the yellow of my setup so one looked like they'd been smeared with mustard, and even my face was reflected in one of the shots. Sure, they're dust and fingerprint magnets, and one of mine does have slightly loose joints, but for a figure that I honestly forgot was coming out given how long ago the announcement was, I'm very happy with it. I really like the '70's/80's killer robot' feel of the Disney era Imperial droids, this definitely evokes The Black Hole robots to me, with a little bit of the Cylons and the Chopping Mall robots for some reason come to mind. Whilst these are at least big figures, I do think that these deluxe figures need more diorama parts, this figure could've had the alcove with maybe clips for if you buy multiple, and the throne room Boba should've had a throne. That and how come the figures that are given jet blast effects in this line don't also get flight stands? Still, solid figure.

It's not painted. It's just shiny molded plastic. If it gets dirty you can clean it off with a lens cleaner wipe & polish it off with a soft cloth. Or really, just your sleeve most of the time.

I admit I hear Dark Trooper I think of Star Wars Dark Forces and the ones in that classic game. Dating myself maybe. Still I did recently see the ep with them and man I dug their look even if I did remember the others. Someone mentioned a Christmas Repaint but they did just start Halloween figs too and dare I say could see this painted as a Grim Reaper or Ghostface-ish Hmm I wonder if those effects could work with other figure weapons?

Let’s do the ol’ corporate compliment sandwich: The editing on this was top notch! The Rock-em’ sock-em’ bit and the laser blast were a surprise to be sure - but a welcome one! Was hoping to see the size comparison with some import Star Wars figures *cough* new SHF Luke *cough* but I guess Duke and T’challa work lol I ordered 3, my army-builder limit, and this review made me damn glad I did! Since my local Popculcha Superstore in Australia seems to be taking the initial realease date of Spring ‘23 literally, I saw one on discount online and finally got it in hand. Man.. sooo cool! Short of finger and toe articulation, which isn’t even a thing in this line yet, It can do all the things! Except that > 90° knee bend doesn’t allow it to do a nice prone pose. I got it with Archive Dengar and The G Inquisitor and as cool as they are, they don’t hold a candle to this guy,at least in terms of the joy I am feeling right now! Can’t wait to have two! Wow! 😅❤

Such an amazing figure, even with the deluxe price. My only complaint is that the gun can't be stored on its leg like in the show. If the Dark Trooper is to be displayed with fists, then the gun has nowhere to go. Kind of an odd oversight, but still a fantastic addition to the Black Series.

I looked it up, on the back of the belt is a larger thermal detonator and aparently on the leg those are flare cylinders. not sure why dark troopers would need those, but guess that's what they are.

At the end of the day the plastic chest feels incredibly cheap especially because they didn’t glue it in place or have the peg connection that’s on the inner body actually work, the pale transparent red paint they used on the eyes that are clearly meant to be bright red is also another cheap move

As an OG Dark Forces player I loved seeing the Dark Troopers show up in The Mandalorian. This figure though... maybe it's my growing disappointment in The Black Series showing but it was a let-down for me. 90-degree elbows and knees? That floaty chestpiece uuggh. It feels cheap for the price and the articulation falls short in some areas. Would have loved a swappable, damaged chestpiece and head, or heck, throw in a stand to use those jet effects. Maybe we'll see a Figuarts of this guy but not holding out hope. Model kit?

I've really been waiting for these to become available; they're on a list of figs I've really wanted, with the added benefit I expected they'd actually get made, ad opposed to several Legends figs I'd love. If I have to complain, though...the blast effects. Why were these included? Maybe these weren't part of the "deluxe" price tag, but I almost feel like you can't use them. Plug them in, and it can't stand up. It didn't pack with a flight stand, or some way to suspend it in flight pose, so I'm uncertain how they expect people to use them, other than paying money for a third party accessory to make them appear airborne. Apart from that, I really like the product, and your walk through of it. My Moff Gideon will look cooler with two of these standing in profile.

Put Wrecker next to him... he dwarfs this guy. I somehow expected the Dark Trooper to be a bigger boy. These round Joints are as with all droids kinda loose, good luck with those ankles or have the Mod Podge ready. My biggest gripe is that i just want to have him stand straight, the legs are kinda bended outwards and i needed to do a lot massaging to bend them inwards enough to just be straight. Maybe a harder more model kit type plastic would have been appropriate for this guy's limbs. And considering how much AIR is included in this deluxe edition, yeah, not an army builder, i'll stick with the one i got... unless SHF or Mafex make one. I like it, but i hoped to be more impressed with it... it is just ...OK. Hasbro really needs to find a way to make these joints stiffer.... way to loose. He is not as top heavy as K2SO, so he has not fallen over yet, but every time i move him i need to make sure he isn't leaning forwards or backwards too much.
