I see many people complain that the hands can't hold the knife, honestly with how good this guy looks they should've made it a deluxe, bumped the price tag to 35, give him a spare set of hands for the knife, the spear, an oddly severed-head-shaped sack with... ketchup stains, blast effects, flamethrower effects, and a grappling effect

So far finding the right Mando has been like Goldilocks choosing porridge. "This one's proportions are weird, this one's helmet is too small, this one's visor is too thin..." But *THIS* figure is JUST RIGHT. All the right proportions, all the right accessories, all for the best price. I'm sure there'll be minor improvements on this figure in the coming years, but I'm completely content with this one.

It's a lot of the old body but lots of accessories, an articulated Grogu, alternate helmet with flashlight attachment, and unmasked Din head. With that I can backtrack and spruce up the first one, or other figures.

Looks like Black series finally got the helmet right. It has a curvature to the chin they always missed. Weirdly enough the vintage collection had it right since the 1st one.

For me the two major improvements with the new Mando are the shoulder pads and the helmet. The more raised look and larger size to the shoulder pads on this new one cuts a much better silhouette that looks closer to the show, and the helmet goes without saying. My Star Wars shelf is directly to the right of my desk, so I mostly see those figures from a side profile and man I can't stand looking at that older helmet mold from the side, everything about it just looks wrong and ugly. The cloth cape is a bonus too, glad we'll finally be able to have him posed with the jetpack on.

I am torn. I want this Mando as someone who, shockingly, does not have one yet, but my issue is I like the long rifle and spear, so as much as sure, the darksaber's cool and it's a nice knife, it feels a little sad missing out on either of those.

Yeah, I forgot the spear was a big deal in this scene, the last time we see it. But was the rifle still in play at this point? Seems like he lost or stopped using that earlier. Of course, he still carries the shells for it on the shin strap...

Yeah yeah, this new Mando is great, he’s the star of the review, and I’m jealous mine is still in the mail… however. The best part of the review is being shown that the smaller red horizontal flaps open on R5 and the fact that I can pull the head all the way out for easier accessory placement! 🤯🤦🏻‍♂️ I have messed with both the new R2 and R5 and had no idea. 😅😂

Hey Robo, a quick fix for the glavis ring world mando arms not spinning around, you need to heat and pop out the arms and cut off the two little notches in the butterfly joints, hope this helps!❤

This new mando looks great on the shelf! the metallic armor finish is miles ahead of my older one. I do have a bit of a gripe with the shoulder pads though, as if you move the arms up or out, they tend to stick out obnoxiously and dont always go back into place. Also just a me thing, I don't love the single knees!

I guess a positive is MAFEX Mando V2 comes with all his weapons so I don't have to steal any from other figures (though I think by this point Din had lost his rifle and was in the process of melting the spear?)

It's been driving me nuts for months that in ALL the pictures of this Mando' his forearms aren't in the right positions and every review I checked before now didn't even acknowledge they were turned around (with only one of them having sorted them after unboxing him but they did it off camera and didn't bring it up). Mine is coming into my local store tomorrow, and this has put my mind at ease. Can't wait for this guy. This is the way! ❤

@RoboDontKnow Mine arrived in today, and he's looking great! Got the forearms sorted and everything. Went back over your review to make sure I wasn't doing anything reckless with him. I've found that the shoulder armour rings on mine are snagging on the butterfly joint itself (there's a small ridge in the sculpt). Also, I don't have any of the Boba's or someone else to have effects for the jetpack but I do have some from Transformers Siege and the 2 orange ones that came in the Skywarp pack fit in the ports nearly perfectly!

The arm has a C-shaped opening where the shoulder armor ring catches onto. That’s why you can rotate from the front but it catches the armor tab on the back. If you force to rotate from the back it can cut the shoulder armor off. Also, the vibroblade

This is a total random guess on why the wall was causing a (non bad batch) echo. But the sound waves might be "going around" the sound proof wall and bouncing off the other side of the wall (that hasn't been sound proofed). This may be creating crude echo chamber like thingy with the rest of the room. If you want to keep the wall you might be able to fix it by padding the other side of the wall that you removed. But keep in mind I am probably, most likely, 100% wrong. Also love your videos!

There was something sticking for me about the new astromech bodies and it didn't click until I built one of the model kits last weekend; the body is too thick. The height is good, but the storage gimick makes them a millimeter or two too wide, which makes them look too bulky to me. Not saying the old mold is better in any way, though. However, I do kind of want them to do the Kenner tribute R7 unit from Ahsoka on the old body. That just seems fitting to me.

Tossing this out there though I'm sure someone's beaten me to it but, as someone fiddling with their copy of this Mando right now, I've noticed the shoulder pads are likely not meant to go the full 360, as they're seemingly in a bit of a trench as it were that stops them after a slight bit forward and back, like a groove not fully cut out. Still sort of an improvement, imo, but I'm unsure as to why they have it blocked like this. Something to do with the integrity of the plastic, maybe?

I'm sitting here tonight, after watching this review, with both my Mafex and new Black Series Mandos, and I gotta say: I think Black Series takes it. Mafex is obviously better in terms of sculpt and accessories, but value and even articulation I think Black Series has it. I might either switch the wrist pegs, or get some custom hands and the Black Series will be the as close to perfect Mando we can get without hiring the actors. Here's hoping they release a Chapter 1 version!

My only complaint is that it didn't come with the Beskar spear. The spear was pretty specific to the Ringworld scene and it's the last time that we will ever see it. The only Black series Beskar Spear we got was in the Amazon three-pack re-pack of Ahsoka, Mando, and Grogu.

Great Video, I actually took apart an extra mando to see the inner workings and compare them with the deathwatch mando. There is actually a decent bit of reuse with the deathwatch mando, which was to be expected. The entire hard plastic inner torso and crotch piece are reuse from Deathwatch, as well as the upper thighs, the upper arms, and neck piece. Regardless, it's without a doubt my pick for best mando figure made so far.

My Mafex Mando is my main display Mando...but this latest version looks incredibly tempting!! I agree that my only gripe on the Mafex is the skinny visor...Have you tried headswapping with this latest black series version?? *PS I too have the Mafex Mando 2.0 on preorder...fingers crossed the visor is improved on that one *sigh*
