I don't like the videos of the planes that are just close up pictures and videos as they fly by like in other videos.

"only in California..." Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but we hear it in Mossyrock, Washington every Wednesday. NAS Whidbey Island does A-6, F-15, and F-18 strike runs on Mayfield, Mossyrock, and Cowlitz Falls dams all the time. I've been standing on top of the hill above the Hwy-12 causeway over Mayfield Lake and looked DOWN into an A-6 Intruders cockpit!!!! He overcooked the corner and went between the hillside and the power lines! I've been in my boat on Riffe Lake, 16 miles uplake from Mossyrock Dam, and had a flight of two F-15s go by me just barely subsonic. I saw them coming, but couldn't hear them until they were just barely abeam of me, 200ft AGL, probably .9 mach, rollin' an' pullin' hard to head up the canyon for Cowlitz Falls, vortice streaming from tips, tails, and wing roots!!! It's a weekly airshow around those lakes and dams, so I totally get the thrill!!! SOUND OF FREEDOM RIGHT THERE!!!!

I am pretty sure it was closed after the jet crashed last summer but it reopened but since it is in DV Park I am not sure if the park has opened up after the virus crisis. Good luck making it out there. It is a great show.

MotorSavage just curious but how long were you guys there before you saw your first jet? How long did you guys stick around? I’m west of that area on the other side of the mountains in the central valley and am really thinking about taking a day trip over there to check out the action. I’d just hate to drive all that way and only see like one jet. That’s why I’m curious how long you had to stick around to see all the planes you saw. I know it’s kind of a crapshoot in regard to how many fighter jets you might get to see, but I’ve been watching a ton of jet videos from that spot and it looks absolutely awesome. Not to get too nerdy but to me seeing planes ripping by in afterburner is one of the gnarliest things a person can see. 🤙

@@mxcollin95 It is definitely worth the trip to see the jets so maybe planning a full day during the week would get you some jet time. I had to stay out there for quite a while so its a time commitment. I was there for about 3 hours late in the afternoon the first day then about 4 hours the next morning. I have another video to post soon when I was out there in February and I spent most of two days to see maybe 10-12 flyovers. Someone told me Tues-Thur are the best days. In Jan I was out there on a Friday afternoon and did not see much action. Weekends seem slow. I hope this helps!

Wei, its pretty much daily but Tues-Thursday seem to be the most active days. My understanding the jets are back flying again after the crash this summer. Good luck getting out there to see it sometime!

Chris, Panamint Springs resort has an RV park, I am pretty sure. I have stayed in one of their rooms but not in the campgrounds but I have seen RV's there too. Crowley overlook is on the western side of the park off Hwy 190 in Death Vallay. I am posting a Google Map link to the area which should help you. I agree with you though that the public needs to understand there is risk that is necessary to train for something that is very dangerous.

Motor Savage: "Only in California can you hear this noise". Not True! Mach Loop, Wales has similar jet, prop planes flying through a canyon. Lot of strenuous climbing to get there too. However this place is much better. The Welch the people in the area are trying to shut it down, where here, the Park Service is promoting it. I was at this area May 25-27, 2019 with 35-40 mph winds and huge dust storm in the sand base in Panamint Valley. Not good for flying jets or prop planes like C-130's. Heard no jets for 3 days. Camping at Panamint Springs is a great place to stay, just 10-15 min away from shooting spot.

I took my family there in Summer 2018... In August on a Tuesday... We saw ZERO jets unfortunately.. but its a cool place, kids saw a HORNY TOAD they played with.... and there's some junk and old cars or a trailer crashed down deep in the ravine. Next time I hope to see Jets!

Most of the videos are recorded with the help of zoom...actually without any zoom the jets are pretty far...down in the canyon.

I am pretty sure there is no set schedule and the activity can vary depending on whether or not they have trainings happening. I have been there a few times and it seems like Mon-Thur are busy and Fridays and weekends are slow. I hope this helps.

Very cool. Heading out there in two days from SoCal with a friend who is visiting from Oregon. BTW, part of the reason for the activity is due to Redflag 18-1 (Nellis AFB), which the Air Force says it's the biggest Redflag exercise to-date. They even sent out notices to news outlets that they may be jamming GPS signals as far out as the CA coast as part of this exercise. Naval Air Station China Lake isn't far from Crowley either. Looks like you saw F-18s and F-16s. If the F-16s had tan or gray camouflage, those are the "aggressors"-acting as bad guys and flying Russian tactics.

I was out there on Feb 8 and 9 and it was pretty busy. The 9th seemed busier and one of the photographers was mentioning the Redflag event you noted and said there are other countries sending pilots over for training. Apparently that is the most "realistic" training NATO puts on. It should be a great show for you. Thank you for the comment and for watching.

Audio on your voice is extremely low. Izzat a GoPro or sumpin'? YT audio is cranked, my amp on the computer is cranked to 60%, and you're still low. I'll have to get out to Death Valley some year and see that show. Thanks for the vid, MotorSavage.

Nicely done! I've watched a ton of footage of jets blowing through that canyon, but that's the first time I've ever seen them fly directly overhead the parking lot. You were super lucky to catch that one, he or she was way off the usual park. What was up with the volume, though? Everything seemed normal for most of the video, but the first pass seemed unusually loud/distorted. Thanks for posting!

Only California? Not true at all. I am a retire Navy Sailor and served on two Aircraft Carriers. I can’t speak for the Air Force. But the Navy & Marine Corp do fly their birds basically the same way w/in the designated air space around all Naval Air Stations/Bases minus the canyon of course. If you live on or near a Navy Air or Marine Corp Air Base, you get the same Air show.

Johnny I was there during the weekdays on Wed - Friday. There were training exercises going on that week with NATO forces working together. I wish I knew the schedule a little better. Good luck making the trip. I would recommend Nov to March to avoid the heat.

Coming out of DV and beginning the drive down into Panamint I pulled over. I mustve been pretty close to where you filmed. Im almost certain the pilot purposely made a turn when he saw me parked to give me a thrill. He was LOOOWWW, maybe 200' AGL!! But nothing as low as yours!! That was baddass! Nice video. I was in DV twice last year and the first time I came in from the west. The second time I was staying at Panamint Springs so I just rode up the hill. The Star Wars Canyon area is where they fly the most since they like to fly into the canyon then out onto Panamint Valley. It looks like you were very close to where I shot this. +MotorSavage, Oh cmon guys people??? Really??? The first one is over the top! That's over the top! That's not IN the CANYON! Every year we beat you guys at Red Flag bombing competition because we fly below 250 feet above sea level. Am I being arrogant? Nope; as you guys would or might say. Good footage but most are late entry into diving into the end of the canyon rather than flying through the full canyon. Keep practising guys! And yes I served in The Royal Air Force and no; I'm NOT a flyer! Per Ardua Ad Astra
