I get that it would be expensive, but when Star Wars is literally merged with Disney now, there's no way they can go "overbudget". Final Fantasy and Resident Evil have comparably far less resources, especially back then, but managed to have CG animated films (although admittedly the first FF movie was very rough). The real issue would be that the style of CG animation associated with Disney is Pixar. They definitely can afford to do animation like the one in these SW trailers but they're too strongly tied to Pixar style CG animation.

Blur Studios, they made all the SWTOR cinematics. I would love to see more of this kind of animation but unfortunately it's just too expensive and time consuming for a company like Disney to pursue.
