I’d love to see extended versions of the prequels. All the deleted scenes do indeed add more depth and development. However George could have kept them if he wanted to. He owned the studio and was the distributor. The theatrical cuts of the prequels already are Director’s cuts in this situation.

So from what I’ve been able to gather over the years, as a huge Gareth Edwards fan. Gareth is a concept director, not that his films don’t have great characters but he likes to start out with a concept and a rough outline and develop the characters from there through an improvisational way( watch his film monsters for reference great movie) this is why gareth was actually brought on board, John knoll pitched an idea to Kathleen Kennedy of a rag tag team of rebels that stole the Death Star plans, this is all they had an idea. Gareth, Chris weitz developed the film through gareths improvisational tone. Which took longer, and considering they had a release date, they needed a finished script, enter tony gilroy, they had general outline stuff shot and done tony came on board, gareth was still director for all the reshoots. The running across the field was cut to save time so they had to cut all the scenes with a second tower, and digitally rev create the satellite on the first tower. The biggest differences are the ending, gareth was convinced that Disney would not allow him to kill off all the characters so he made an ending he wasnt happy with that we actually saw a bit of. When Jyn, Cassian, and k2so are sneaking into the tower, K2 hacks into an identical droid and gets a map of the area. In the original k2 does this but he also uploads his conscience into this droid because he knew they had 70 percent chance of failure or whatever it is. Original k2 dies like we saw but the one he hacked steals a ship and jyn, cassian, and k2 escape in the end. This scene was not fully complete because tony gilroy came on board finished the script with the current ending, and to their surprise the higher ups suggested that the main characters die.

I would love to see a directors cut of ep. 9. Every single aspect of that film was leaked heavily including how things got moved around, cut, and changed last minute. The plot had so many problems, but I feel like the original vision would have been at least a lot more cohesive. When I first saw the movie, it felt like every single scene was cut down and put in the wrong place almost, didn't feel like a real "movie". Just knowing how many important lines, plot lines, and scenes were cut makes me curious how it could have turn out. Plus, the fact no deleted scenes were ever released for this movie seems like a red flag that there was a LOT of good material cut. Just curious what JJ actually had in mind originally

We already have the directors cut of Revenge of the Sith, it came out in 2005. The info showcased in the video is just George's unique process for creating films. He could've included anything he wanted to, yet he didnt this stuff, because he in the didnt want to/changed his mind. He has said time and time again, especially with the controversy over the Special Editions of 4-6, that they are *his* movies, not ours. Just watch his process, you know darn well if he was unhappy about something in the movie, he would have changed it. And that's exactly what he did with the reshoots/editing, etc. He changed it from something he didnt like (All the rumors, deleted scenes, Anakins turn being in different order, etc.) to something he did like (the movie we got [with the reshoots he made]). It's similar to, bit not exactly like, how the Snyder cut we have today in 2021 is different from what he would've done in 2017 if nothing bad happened and he had control to make the movie.

I don't feel like Revenge of the Sith needs a directors cut at all. Too me, the movie is fine the way it is. If people love it for what it is, why change it. It's the old motto, if it ain't broke don't fix it 🤷‍♂️ I think the 2 Star Wars movies that could benefit from not so much of a directors cut, but more of an extended edition is The Rise of Skywalker and The Last Jedi as they are many things they could have expanded on further. I really like Solo. I got it exactly, but its risk is that it’s arguably a generation thing. There is a certain generation of Star Wars fan who look at Han Solo as a particular icon of cinematic antiheroes. But, they marketed the movie badly and the generational feedback had changed over many years. Lawrence Kasdan, creative brilliance in films that he is, is still in an earlier generation that didn’t realize the popular mood had changed for Han Solo.

For Episode 3 I would've changed the killing of the Separatists with the Jedi Temple. It should've ended at with him being confronted at the Jedi Temple and the fight culminating near Palpatines underground lava lair. Going to kill the Jedi right away was too fast of a conversion. Also if it ended with the Temple Palpatine could've called for action on Obi-wan and Yoda forcing them to flee due to being outed by the public and vast numbers of soldiers, instead of Yoda getting bested and saying ya I need to go into isolation.

A Revenge of the Sith 4 hour cut would be interesting. However as certain parts of the Prequel Trilogy have been fleshed out in expanded media such as the Clone Wars TV show and how I think Revenge of the Sith is good enough as it is, I’m in no rush. Rogue One is definitely the best Disney Star Wars movie. However, I can’t ignore the fact that it was a nightmare behind the scenes and with Tony Gilroy handling reshoots rather than the original director Gareth Edwards, I feel like the film lacks a director’s identity. Also, seeing films with radically different trailers has become quite an annoyance for me. There’s also another aspect as to why I would be interested. What would Alexandria Desplat, the original composer, have brought to the table? Going by his musical style, I think he would have brought a darker and more Hans Zimmer style to the score. I think Lucasfilm decided to play it safe and go for Michael Giacchino. Who composed a more John Williams esque score for the film. Well the Mandalorian proved that Star Wars scores don’t need to have that John Williams sound in order to be successful. Solo. Oh boy. Solo. To be honest, the movie was already doomed to fail as many felt a Han Solo origin film was unnecessary. Especially as the character was killed off in Disney’s first Star Wars film. There had been a bigger worry when the original directors, Lord and Miller, got fired before principal photography was finished and the film wasn’t even delayed. Apparently Lucasfilm asked Disney if they could delay Solo to Christmas of 2018, but Disney declined as Mary Poppins Returns was scheduled to release that Christmas and they wanted that to be the big box office winner. Like Solo, Mary Poppins Returns only made $300 million and it became a film you would forget about in a day or two. All things considered, Solo turned out fine. I would still be interested in a Lord and Miller cut. Now, how about alternate versions of Star Wars movies next please? Like Colin Trevarow’s Duel of the Fates?

In the past 3 years that Solo has been released, I actually really love it and warmed up to it over time. It's my favorite Disney Star Wars movie behind The Force Awakens. "Rogue One" "one of the better Star Wars films Disney has put out". Just before that you talked about the deleted scenes from ROTS. The fact that Disney not only brought back Jimmy Smits from the prequels but also reintroduce Genevieve O'Reilly from the deleted scenes in Rogue One goes to show that Disney indeed care about the property. And since we all know that Tony Gilroy basically saved Rogue One which has arguably the best reputation out of all those movies I am still curious why he hasn't got a shot in directing since The Bourne Legacy in 2012 (which wasn't terrible or anything). Even if the experience on Rogue One wasn't the best.

Also he saw mace about to murder a man on the ground pleading for his life so there is that

I am really curious about Rogue One. The movie is pretty great as is, but I do wonder what Gareth Edwards had in mind. Tony Gilroy makes it sound like it was trash and he saved the day, but he also comes off as a bit of an ass in that interview, so I don't know what to think of his comments. I have a feeling the original was maybe more slow paced in the start, less exciting, less action. Not enough blockbuster. So it could potentially be a more interesting character piece. Or it could've just been boring. I am disappointed that Disney promised to take Star Wars in new and interesting directions with the stand alone stories, and in both cases they got cold feet and hired other people to make Rogue One and Solo more run-of-the-mill blockbuster Star Wars films.
