Mine is on a slow boat from Japan apparently. As you said, Mafex gets a lot right and a little wrong. She does seem too orange, the knee joints is pretty ugly and that loose shoulder joint cover gives me old Mafex PTSD. Like so many of their other figs, Mafex flirts with perfection before stepping on its own toes.

The MAFEX face just doesn't look like Rosario to me. I would love to be able to swap it with the Black Series head but the skin-tone looks too far off between the two. Man, the MAFEX looks incredible to me otherwise.

I feel like there's an apples & oranges thing going on with Likeness there. Black Series looks more like Rosario Dawson, but the Mafex looks more like a live action version of animated Ahsoka.

@@ryanfolsom8851 Completely agree. I feel this is a great option for the folks that want an animated version of an adult Ahsoka. I am thinking of picking up an extra Black Series Ahsoka to customize (repaint it mimic the paint apps on the MAFEX version’s outfit/gauntlets/etc.).

Same, I completely forgot about SHF Ahsoka. Went to look at when she releases, it's this month, AND I ALREADY HAD IT ON PRE-ORDER. I can't keep track anymore. Agree with what's being said, the Black Series is a good live action, the MAFEX is a good "natural progression" of animated Ahsoka.

I never even pre-ordered this because it's just so... inconsistently better than the Black Series. I agree with you about the skin tone, the Mafex is just so... bright. Almost like they're basing it off animated Ahsoka and not live-action Ahsoka. For the face, while the face markings are better, what's a letdown for me is the eyes. The Black Series just nails the eyes, while the Mafex looks off. That cloak... wow! The fact that you could lay it down so easy is amazing! I love my wired soft goods but sometimes, it's such a hassle to work with.

I actually cut out a part of me rambling about it being animation flavored (that I refer to in the comparison section) while the Black Series is definitely more realistic feeling. And yup, all softgoods should be this easy. I had my doubts the hood would work as advertised over the unique head shape but nope, easy peasy.

I was on the fence with the same hangups until Bo Katan. Like Bo Katan, I think the eyes are printed too small. Idk what they're thinking with the skin tone. Rosario Dawson has brown skin below the orange makeup. It should be more reddish brown. SHF promos look closer to the mark so hoping it turns out that way. ​@@RoboDontKnow 3:38 is the difference this dramatic in hand?

I regret canceling this. For me, Rosario Dawson isn't what I see when I see Ahsoka, so I don't need the likeness to be accurate. The more detailed sculpt and better accessory count puts this over the Black Series for me.

Great comparison there brother Robo! Yes, the Black series figure still holds up as a good rendition of Ashoka, but the sharp paint application along with crisp face face sculpt makes me lean towards the Mafex version for the shelf!

Looking forward to your review of the figuarts when you eventually cave to getting it. Judging from the promo pics, the SHF looks to have the best likeness of the three but we will have to see what the scaling is like

I recently got the Mafex Bo Katan. I was tempted by this Ahsoka too, but buying two Mafex figs at once wasn’t in the budget. The Bo Katan is a really nice figure, by the way. It has the weird metallic hair thing they sometimes do, but it isn’t a deal breaker 🙂

I actually wasn't too grabbed about this one from the promo pics. But the Bo-Katan though, that's such a nice looking figure, especially compared to the Black Series. On a surface level, the Ahsoka just didn't look that big of an upgrade compared to her

@@RoboDontKnow Haha now I feel kinda bad just regurgitating your thoughts. I picked it up as you saying just the proportions feel more animated, not specifically the skintone. Side note, I had the idea of drilling the loops on the hilts to insert tiny rings so I can just slot the bladeless, clipless hilt to the hook instead of needing a bunch of parts to swap -- only to notice in your review that the belt hook is actually also a solid chunk, so would have to mess with hollowing that out too and that seems potentially like a major hassle

I hope Mafex and SHF are thinking about Sabine, Shin, and Baylan. Hasbro left the door wide open. Mafex Ahsoka brings some worthy upgrades, but looking forward to seeing how SHF compares. Like Bo, I think the eyes and lips are printed too small. Could be bright lights, but skin tone looks way too vibrant. TBS is a bit closer, but shiny face spoils the likeness. The Mafex shoulder cap escaping down the arm is hilarious 😂

Gonna be opening mine up later today and will keep an eye out for those shoulder pieces as well. I agree that the Black Series version is still a great figure and one of Hasbro's best, but this Mafex is definitely a step up and the poncho looks AMAZING. I'm a sucker for a good looking Star Wars figures (I have Mando from all the companies) and have the Figuarts Ahsoka on preorder as well. If you preordered that I can't wait for the eventual 3 way comparison video.

@@RoboDontKnow The right shoulder issue is happening on mine as well, so it must be a general product issue. So weird how it's only the right and not the left. Having said that--10/10 figure (especially with the poncho on).

I opted to skip this for now as I was a sucker and bought the "3 pack" a while back. I'm a little glad I did cause that bright orange isn't quite doing it for me. With these being live action interpretations, I find the realness to be a very important factor. There's always the SHF next month as well, so maybe that'd be more up my alley. It's funny though, cause I did grab the Mafex Bo Katan, and that thing is far and away superior to the Black Series in just about every regard imo, it's just a shame that she doesn't quite fit into the rest of the Nite Owls now that the helmet size is so different.

The orange tone seems to be more accurated to the one in Clone Wars, so for me, to stand this along the Black Series younger Asohka and get some unity despite the desings, is a win

If you collected the Vintage Collection, you might notice that the Ahsoka released in the Mandalorian packaging has a lighter skin tone similar to the Black Series figure you have here, but the Ahsoka released on the Ahsoka series card back has a more orange ish tone, similar to the Mafex, which was released in Ahsoka series packaging. I’m not sure if they changed her makeup in a similar fashion between her appearance in the Mandalorian and her appearance in Ahsoka.

Black series has increased the prices in recent years, but for the money, it is still a very good option. At 2 or 3 times the price, MAFEX is not much better.

Who'd you get to voice Ahsoka at the beginning? Anyway, this Ahsoka looks amazing, but definitely skews to the slightly cartoony side. That's not a problem for me, necessarily. I went ahead and waited until the 1st of the month to order her from amiami so I could bundle her with the SHF Ahsoka. She's one of my favorite characters, so I don't mind double (triple?) dipping. It'll be fun to compare all three 1-12 scale Ahsokas. I do feel like the SHF will have the best faces, but not as detailed on the outfit as the Mafex. The SHF also has the better looking knees and the correct length montrals/lekku. This Ahsoka from Mafex is advertised as from the Ahsoka series, but she's definitely closer to her appearance in the Mandalorian.

The figure looks like ahsoka but not Rosario's live action version of ahsoka which is what the figure is based on. I also could've sworn the promo pics didn't have her look that bright of orange compared to the final product. Unless the sh figuarts that is coming out this month messes up completely I don't see myself getting the mafex because the sh figuarts put a little more of accessories than mafex did. I'll probably get the mafex bo-katan though despite hearing the articulation is mid because figuarts is taking long for theirs & it looks pretty good. I wonder which company will be the first too do the white gear ahsoka.

Are you sure you're not being forgiving because you paid much more for it? (Mind you, I don't like how the eyes look on the BS figure, like she hasn't slept for a week.)

Did you only hear what you wanted to hear? I said the Black Series was superior in some way but overall the proportions, sculpt, and paint win me over to the MAFEX. Barely. "Comes apart in your hands." C'mon, it's a shoulder cap because the peg is microscopically short and doesn't come off unless I crank it in a certain direction. But I'm sure I'm biased.

​@@RoboDontKnow I apologize for the wording in my post, it wasn't my intention to be "one of those people" and to try to ruin your day. But not only the shoulder cap came loose, but also the two lightsaber hooks and the hand when you twisted the joint. Yes, I realize that the hands are detachable so that you can swap them around, but surely it should hold together a bit better than that? It just seems to me that quality- and looks-wise the Hasbro figure is better in every way - pieces don't fall off unexpectedly, skin tone is better, face likeness is closer to the actress. And this despite it costing a lot less - though of course it doesn't come with all the extra stuff, which I would have liked to have and would happily have paid extra for. But I don't think I'll be picking up any Mafex figures any time soon, they seem ''brittle'' compared to the ''gummy'' BS figures. Maybe I'll change my mind if I ever have the occasion to hold one in my hand. Anyway, I enjoy all your videos and look forward to your next review.
