Of course it would never become a hit if the series debuted in 1999 with this. It definitely depends on the original series to exist. But it's watchable and has some cool moments. “Always two there are, no more, no less.“ This is the sith Rule of Two. There used to be lots of sith but they kept backstabbing each other for power. Darth Bane implemented the rule, only 2 at a time. A master to hold the power, and apprentice to crave it. The apprentice eventually kills their master, or takes their place if they die by other means, and takes an apprentice of their own.
@ulic964 жыл бұрын
They should watch some trivia about Darth Bane after watching the prequels, it's very interesting. The fact that was Darth Bane the reason the Sith were annihilated by the Jedi so that he could be the only Sith and implement the Rule of Two is dope (I'm not 100% sure about this, but as far as I can remember)
@ulic964 жыл бұрын
@Tony Soprano Oh yes, wasn't counting this whole canon/non-canon thing with the addition of the later movies. Thx for the info
@sealofapproval6374 жыл бұрын
It's also worth noting that the Rule of Two is more of a Sith Philosophy than unbreakable law. Some followed it whilst others didn't and their reasons for doing either varied widely. One of the more interesting things, yet to be touched on in the films, is just how many different interpretations of how the force existed and how two individuals, who both called themselves Jedi/Sith could have very different and conflicting ideas of how the force is actually supposed to work.
@TheJjcczz2 жыл бұрын
@@sealofapproval637 That’s because Lucas said that there is no gray Jedi, no in between, the Sith impose their will on the force and balance only exists in a world without the Sith. @Kalle Vuolteenaho In Ahmed Best's case, it was the media backlash that got to him the most, not actually the OT fanboys although they are fuckwits all the same. The KZbinr Amazing Atheist said in a podcast that he hated Jake Lloyd and wanted him to die. Wanting someone to die because you didn't like a character they played the role of? Totally justified for the typical OT fanboy by the looks of it.

The reason the Queen of Naboo wears all the makeup and elaborate costumes (and speaks in that weird monotone) is so that her handmaidens can easily take her place in danger situations. The handmaidens are highly trained bodyguards. There's an entire novel (two actually) dedicated to filling in details on it. And yes, Keira Knightley is in the mix here, and Rose Byrne is one of them as well.

24:41. In the 1990s, I was still employed at the local, "Pizza Hut". We sold stuff that promoted this movie. So that got some of the mothers interested in seeing the movie. Young Anakin, was the appeal, as he reminded them of their own children. They could relate to the mother's plight and feelings. As for the guys, they talked about it in video game terms. As for me, Natalie & Keira, we're my favorite attractions, followed by the special effects, and other visuals. 😎

At this time in Star Wars history, there are only 2 Sith. It's called the Rule of 2. In legends and canon, it was established about 1000 years before this by Darth Bane. Essentially it boils down to the belief that in order for the Sith to be powerful, all their power and knowledge would only be in 2 individuals. This inspires competition and the ambition to become more powerful between the Master and apprentice, ensuring that the Sith are always trying to improve their strength and abilities. And in Legends it had another reason: The Jedi and Sith had fought in Wars for nearly 4,000 years before Bane. And in that time, the Jedi had always emerged triumphant. Bane saw this as the weakness of their power being spread between many, and also having only 2 Sith helped them hide and not be discovered by the Jedi.

11:45 Suraj is right, that is indeed Keira Knightley. 45:36 Actually, neither "The Phantom Menace" or "Terminator 2" were the beginning of modern CGI effects. That claim is held by the 1985 movie "Young Sherlock Holmes", which features the first three-dimensional CGI effect on screen. Other CGI milestones are "The Abyss" from 1989, "Terminator 2" as mentioned by Suraj, and "Jurassic Park". By the time "The Phantom Menace" came out CGI had already been well-established as a useful tool. If anything it might have introduced the era of movies being overly dependent on CGI, which lasted throughout the early and mid-2000s. Not that it didn't work for this movie, but so many movies after "The Phantom Menace" made way too much use of green/blue screen and computer-generated effects when practical effects would've been better. This is still an ongoing problem, of course, but not to the extent that it used to be. 47:50 Yes, Obi Wan did come charging out, fighting in anger and hatred after Maul struck down Qui-Gon, but that's also why Maul managed to overpower him and force push him into the 'bottomless hole'. Tapping into the Dark Side let him gain the upper hand for a little bit, cutting Maul's double-bladed saber in half, but that's only because he took Maul by surprise. The Sith realized Obi Wan was unbalanced and managed to use that to his advantage. However, once Obi Wan managed to calm his mind and let go of his hatred for Maul, that's when he was able to make the leap and force pull Qui-Gon's saber in order to defeat him.

There’s a series of episodes in season 6 of The Clone Wars that explains why Qui-Gon isn’t a force ghost. Also I think it’s important to remember the time scale of the films. Episode 1 takes place 10 years before Episode 2. Episode 3 takes place 3 years after Episode 2 (The Clone Wars last 3 years and the animated series goes into more depth since Episode 3 is the conclusion of the clone wars). Episode 4 is 19 years after Episode 3. Episode 5 is three years after Episode 4. Episode 6 is 1 year after Episode 5. Episode 7 and Episode 8 are 32 years after Episode 6. Episode 9 is 1 year after Episode 8. The video game Jedi Fallen Order is set 4 years after Episode 3. Solo starts out 13 years before Episode 4, but the rest of the film is set 10 years before Episode 4. Rogue One starts out 13 years before Episode 4, but the rest is set in the same time as Episode 4 (in fact the ending of Rogue One directly links to the opening of Episode 4). Star Wars Rebels starts out 5 years before Episode 1 and leads up to it (the very ending of Rebels is 2 years after Episode 6). The storyline from Battlefront2 starts with the end of Episode 6 and proceeds over time towards Episode 7. Star Wars Resistance starts 6 months from the opening of Episode 7 and eventually the episodes intertwine. The Mandalorian begins at 5 years after Episode 6. There are things in Solo, Rogue One, and The Mandalorian that are references from each other as well as from The Clone Wars, Rebels, etc (this includes references to comics and books as well). While one can understand the overall stories and plots without having seen other areas of Star Wars, it adds impact to various scenes in the various Star Wars things you watch. For example, I watched videos of another KZbinr who watched the films for the first time. He watched them in order 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9. While he went in knowing that Luke and Anakin are related so that classic pop culture referenced scene had no impact, the scene of Padme’s twins in 3 shocked him in the same way audiences were originally shocked by the original reveal scene in Empire. And of course most of the nostalgic call backs referenced in 1, 2, and 3 he got because he’d seen 4 and 5. Truthfully, the more you go back and watch the films and series, the more you catch and the deeper immersed you get in the universe. When you start getting into the video games, books, and comics then there’s even more (at least when they’re canon still, but even the stuff that’s not canon many of the new creators like Dave Filoni grew up with that and are finding ways to include some fan favorites...see Thrawn in Rebels as one example). Not that I’m trying to convince you to watch all the other Star Wars stuff, because the Skywalker Saga (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9) can stand on their own. It’s just that the universe itself is more than just the Skywalker Saga and so much of it intertwines and references itself or gives depth to background characters (since all characters in the universe do have a name).

George Lucas said that these movies are made for kids.He didn't care what the "real fans" cared. Jar Jar and the ewoks were for the kids, and they loved them. He said this at Star Wars Celebration and the audience applauded like crazy. Good for George. If anything, because of the hate from the "real fans," it makes me wonder if that was the reason he sold Star Wars to Disney. People begged for more movies and then crucified him. Now that Disney did what they did with the new trilogy, the "real fans" are asking for George to take Star Wars back. They're a bunch of whiny people who can't be pleased no matter what. They probably caused all of this.
@HolyShitNew4 жыл бұрын
i think he said that it was in the beginning just for kids but then it changed to something for everyone i wouldnt say that for example episode 3 is a movie made for kids its like the clone wars where in the beginning it focused more on the children watching but with later seasons that changed and it focuses on everyone especially for the bigger fans and not just kids btw you know you are toxic? the real fans how you like to call them are just people who dont like the sequels and critize them but since its the biggest part of the fans then so many real fans exist why are they whiny? because they dont like obejctively bad movies? its ok to like whatever you want but you are saying that everyone who doesnt like the movie is just a bad person
@cyatic4 жыл бұрын
Holy Shit Toxic? What, because I called out jerk fans? Here the link to George Lucas at Star Wars Celebration 2017, where he said the movies are for 12 year old kids, and where he talks about certain fans. kzbin.info/www/bejne/moXUnp6hrJdlrNU The ones who are jerks and claim to be the real fans are the toxic ones. They’re the ones who are now calling back for Lucas to come back. If you look at the original, it’s terrible, but a fun film. I don’t care that it’s terrible. I love it. The same goes for the prequels. My kids and me loved them. I’ll use George Lucas’ words, “it’s certain fans,” that are the ones who’ll never be satisfied. It’s sad to see people who didn’t create it complain about how the creator is wrong. It’s just plain wrong. I’m with George. If you don’t like it, create your own franchise and make your own movies with your own characters. Also, those fans I talked about weren’t just criticizing, they were being jerks. It’s ok to criticize, a lot of people were just smearing and disrespectful towards George Lucas.
