Considering the maturity disparity at that age it is usually functionally a fairly large difference. In a few years it evens out but very few 24 year old women have much use for 19 year old jackals especially weird creepers with staggering emotional control issues.

The role of Jar Jar didn’t ruin Ahmed Best’s life, toxic assholes hating on Jar Jar and Ahmed himself for playing the character caused him to nearly commit suicide. He put a lot of effort and even some input and was very proud of it He’s doing well now and he even got a massive positive reception at the last Star Wars Celebration. Everyone should listen to the Redemption of Jar Jar Binks podcast, though I personally disagree with the idea he needed redeeming. It’s a really good in depth exploration of the whole situation Unfortunately Jake Lloyd, young anakin, isn’t doing too well at the moment. Hasn’t been for a bit. He retired from acting ^ -because he was bullied at school and harassed by the press,- he was diagnosed with schizophrenia, got arrested for reckless driving, was transferred from jail to a psychiatric facility, and has currently been moved to one closer to his family and has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. ^3/11/24 With an update about Jake Lloyd’s mental health improving, his mom has clarified that he was actually shielded from a lot of the backlash and while there was some bullying in high school, his retirement from acting was mostly due to family drama at home.

a big misunderstanding in the romance of Anakin and Padme is that Padme fell in love with him during their time in Naboo, but this is incorrect, I wouldn't say she fell in love with him at first sight, but when Padme had some sort of sisterly bond with anakin during Episoe 1, but he obviously was smitten by her, going as far as to refer to her as an "Angel". they became close during the blockade of Naboo. then they separate after that for 10 years. Padme still remembers the boy she became close to during Episode 1, while Anakin is still smitten by her. and now in Episode II he's 19 years old, and despite his lack of experience in romance, since he's was raised a jedi, Anakin is actually good looking. Padme sees this grown up anakin and she herself is smitten, like a close friend you haven't seen in years who has suddenly become attractive. I'm even sure Padme was flattered by Anakin's compliment when they first meet again at the start of the film. but since she's a Senator and he's a Jedi, she rebukes him in a not so obvious way by telling him she still sees him as the kid from tatooine. and throughout the entire film, their their relationship with Padme trying to supress her feelings for Anakin for the sake of propriety, since like I mentioned She's a Senator, and He's a Jedi, it wouldn't be proper for them to be together, while Anakin, the younger of the two lovers, is uninhibited, not knowing how to supress his emotions since he's still basically just a big kid infatuated with this beautiful, kind, and smart woman. but then the first kiss breaks through, as we see in the film, Padme let go for one slight moment and immediately regrets the kiss as it was a mistake. and it keeps going when they were in the fire place, Anakin, still uninhibited, tells her how he feels and how much it hurts that she might not love him back, despite the kiss, Padme is almost let's go again here, but she regains her composure and flat out rejects Anakin here, and from here on out Anakin no longer tries anything with her. Then we move onto the Arena in Geonosis, and there, for all Padme and Anakin knows, they're both going to die there. and at that point, there's no use in hiding her emotions, Padme let's go and confesses her love to Anakin, and they Kiss once more, their bond an their love now fully realized. But then Mace Windu arrives with an army of Jedi, and they save the two lovers. unable to take back anything anymore, they go with Anakin's plan earlier which almost enticed Padme, who now sees it as the best option, a secret marraige. and the rest is history. Was that clear in the film? not for everyone was the relationship as I described it the goal of the film? very much so Could it have been done better? 100% definitely But should we hate on Hayden and Padme for it? definitely not. as much as I understand why they kept doing snarky remarks everytime the two were on-screen, it just pissed me off how as-a-matter-of-factly the dude on the right keeps disses their romance. I feel like he went here hoping the newcomers they were watching with were going to hate this movie as well. the Sand dialogue of Anakin gets blasted day and night by these fans but did they actually watch the movie? Padme talked about how much they played on the sand, how she enjoyed laying on it afterward to dry off. So Anakin replies by saying his two cents on Sand. Sand was a postivie memory for her, but for him Sand was coarse, rough, and basically reminded him of his hardships as a slave on Tatooine. and it connects to later, when his mother is dead, what does he do on her grave? he kneels down and grabs the thing that will now always remind him of the love of his mother and where she raise him. SAND. Fans like that guy are really bad, like they don't even try to open their mind to this stuff, they just dislike it flat out. they're just as bad as the fans that bully actors for doing their job on the movie. like come on, I can taste the salt on him from here.

What is infuriating is that people go into it expecting a cliché romance like any other movie does. But it is not supposed to be a normal relationship. It's supposed to be problematic: these are basically two broken, awkward people connecting over their traumas and raw emotions... Everything the 6 main Star Wars movies speak against. The relationship is meant to be problematic and it is portrayed and such; it is not a good thing, especially because it does destroy them in the end. That also explains why all the Shakespearian references: Romeo and Juliet is not a cute love story about two lovers who suffer injustice at the had of others (at least not only that, though they do suffer injustice), but the story of a problematic relationship where two people put their emotions above all reason and end up dead because of it. It's called a tragedy, not because they end up dead, but because their deaths are caused by their own actions, by their own mistakes. And that explains why the dialogue in AOTC is the way it is. But don't expect shallow people to get such subtleties.

Anakin is one of the only people she has ever met that didnt want to use her for political gain. She is uncomfortable because she isnt used to that. But yeah it is weird how fast they got married. @@rikard.h The movie basically three Season 1 episodes strung together. With that mindset, it's not really much worse than other Season 1 episodes, although watching the rough start to Anakin and Ahsoka's relationship is a bit tough. I consider the moive to be important, as it introduces Rex, Ahsoka, Ziro the Hutt (who returns as an antagonist in the series), and the Twilight (which is used throughout the series). Additionally, later episodes (that chronologically happen before the movie) take place on the planet from the beginning of the movie. It'd be a little weird to watch those episodes and never see what comes of that plotline in the movie.
@Klffsj
@Klffsj 4 жыл бұрын
@watashi That's an opinion to which I respectfully disagree. The episodes that precede the movie actually lead into it very well. And, chronological order makes the timeline of The Clone Wars much less confusing. If there were a reason to follow the release order, such as certain plot twists or reveals, I'd be inclined to recommend release order, but this show doesn't have anything spoiled by watching in chronological order. If the movie were a proper film, I might understand your sentiment, but realistically it's just three episodes stuck together and marketed as an animated film. Also, you really shouldn't be so mean about something so relatively meaningless and unimportant as a TV show.

@Mat Girard another problem is time jumps in movies because it is hard to convey time going by between scenes. Very few who only watched the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies understand that the journey lasted for months, even years for the full trilogy timeline start to finish. If you just watched the movies once you would maybe think the entire story happened in a couple weeks timeline. The story and relationships have more meaning if you know the journey was months or even years of them traveling together. It does not make sense that she meets the teenage boy she used to babysit and 2 days later they are kissing. Not enough time has gone by for her forgetting him as a kid and starting to see him as a man. But if you think that they may have been stuck alone in that villa for a few weeks, with the political worries and war fading from memory then maybe over time the romance would be believable. The problem is the screenplay and cuts to keep the film short did not convey the amount of time they spent alone developing their relationship.

Thank you, Rana, for your enthusiasm & allowing yourself to enjoy this movie. A few notes regarding plot points brought up in discussion: Obi-Wan grabbed onto the droid because it was headed back where it came from; he was after the culprit. The love story between Anakin & Padme is supposed to be off-putting. It foreshadows that there's something wrong with their relationship, which is Anakin's selfishness. Their love theme is called 'Across the Stars,' as in 'star-crossed,' meaning not favored by the stars, ill-fated, doomed to fail. Padme fell in love with the little boy she knew on Tatooine who grew up to look like Hayden Christensen. Anakin needed a mother, and Padme was glad to fill that role. She wanted to fix him as much as she wanted to fix the galaxy's problems. They needed each other until they broke each other. So if it seems a little icky, that's because it's meant to be.

Not my joke: A bounty Hunter was hired to kill Padmé, but he didn't want to do it himself so he hired an assassin. But the assassin didn't want to to it herself so she used a robot. But the robot didn't want to do it itself so it used space slugs. And after the Jedis killed the slugs, the robot and captured the assassin, the bounty hunter killed the assassin to silence her instead of killing Padmé who was Jediless.

This movie actually gets somewhat sadder when you consider that Jango was picked up as a Foundling by Jaster shortly after the Jedi-Mandalorian Wars, which he likely saw a lot of people die in and which Dooku fought on the opposing side of. And then twenty-five years later they're allies.

To be fair The Clone Wars Animated Series does an UNBELIEVABLE job at filling in the accelerated romance between Padme and Anakin! They have a lot more moments and touching scenes that draw them together, all piling to this and the next movie. Also it’s been 10 years from the last movie to now, so there’s that. Also I never realized Duku was really just toying with Obi... gave him the love tap, but severed Anakins arm because he hoped it would weaken Sidiouss weapon/plan for him as well as anger Obi to hopefully join him but nope!!! Damn he really was looking for ANY way to overthrow Sidious!

The 'I don't like sand' line is cringy, but that was the intend. Anakin lived in the desert for 9 years, so he has no idea how to talk about a feeling like love. Another dude who have all the criticism that has been fermenting throughout the Fandom for years so he keeps on trying to push his own prefabricated and hive minded criticism every chance he get in specific scenes to make people see just as he does. And on top of it all a dude whos never watched it who has been exposed to this same years of fermented criticism so he get in with all the shit people criticises about it pre established in his mind so you see that all the things bad about it he already had implemented in before even watching it. Its incredible how much a hive mind of critics can shit on something that can be enjoyed by just trying to have some fun and without trying to be part of a group

yes Chris some of us understood all the politics, it's literally the most basic stuff, the whole point of the prequels (other than Vader origins) was showing how a democracy can descend into tyranny when people sacrifice liberty for security. Without that world building it would just be pointless action and cliche "bad guys because they're bad"

@josephthemighty The execution was terrible i'll give you that, but the general plot wasn't all bad. Star wars in general is overrated imo, including the OT, mostly nameless, faceless, bad guys being evil for evil's sake isn't all that interesting imo. without the expanded lore and content ( and everything it did for cinema) it's mediocre at best.

That's what I like about Mickey, he only ever saw bits and pieces of the PT, but I guarantee you he would still rather watch this movie 10 times more than he would want to watch the sequels. Even he knows, that while the dialogue could've been better and other things were off, the PT still told a coherent storyline that didn't hop all over the place. And that alone makes it ten times better than what the ST put out.
