If you're up for more KZbin reactions, I do recommend Rogue One next. It's just one (really great) film, it attaches to the saga easily, and sets up its own prequel Andor if you want a more long-term project. Reacting to Indiana Jones or Stranger Things will likely bring you to more audiences and change your channel still further, but you may be looking for that. I personally love the show Obi-Wan Kenobi and think it does a good job of giving you more closure on prequel feels if you needed it. But it's not as popular as other Star Wars content. The sequels have their moments, imo, but for the most part I and many other Star Wars fans might prefer to pretend they don't exist.

If you want to continue with the Anakin and Obi-Wan dynamic, I'd recommended The Clone Wars (2008) Series as it fills the 3 year gap between Episode 2 and 3. The series does start with a movie, and I'd recommended chronological order as the show jumps around.

@OP, the movie (not Tartakovsky's) takes place after an episode or two of clone wars if watching in chronological. If you remember, the movie takes place along the Retaking of Cristophsis. General grievous was a kaleesh warrior who became a living legend among his people. He got his name because the love of his life was killed in battle and to honour her rebranded himself grievous (grieving)Whilst battling another species that sought help from the Jedi, grievous went to the banking clan and dooku for help. Instead of helping they blew his ship up and took what remains were left and made him into a cyborg to lead the droid army. A fun fact to know is when grievous first was made someone referred to him as a “droid” so out of anger killed all the droids present. Even though he is technically 95% droid he still doesn’t view himself as one and never will. Even the droids that u see at the start with the electric staffs and capes, were all redesigned by grievous himself to make his army look more kalee.

42:08 Throughout the Clone Wars, General Grievous was a highly feared Jedi hunter (hence his collection of lightsabers, which is much more extensive than what's shown here). However, since he didn't have Force powers, he had a key disadvantage against a Jedi, and had to rely on a combination of surprise, dirty fighting, and quickly dominating the fight so his opponent couldn't focus on using Force powers. So anytime Grievous couldn't quickly overpower his opponent, his strategy was to flee and try again later. Also, this was clearly not the first time Obi-Wan and Grievous met, considering how they were behaving around each other at the beginning of the fight. This is also made clearer in the Clone Wars TV show from 2008-2020, which I highly recommend.

Whereas Sidious controlled the courts and the Senate, still had his hands and lightning and had the popular vote. The fight wasn't even over. Sidious had literally won and the only way for the empire to be avoided was to kill Sidious right there. It's the first to ever get me emotional and I rarely get emotional in any movie really, but George absolutely nailed the lightheartedness and the darkness of the narrative. A third film in a trilogy is usually lackluster for the most part but ROTS truly was top tier through and through. Then this movie came out, "and just like that, the magic was gone." That series technically isn't canon anymore, but it does show how Anakin went from Padawan to Knight. They didn't tell him he was "wrong" for missing his mother. He missed her and had fear of losing her. That fear will lead to anger, from anger to hate, and from hate to suffering. And Palpatine is simply buttering up Anakim and stroking his ego so he'll look more supportive to Anakin as opposed to the council who *actually* have to teach him right from wrong.

@@MrZackavelli just because they warned against it happening doesnt mean that it is the only possible scenario that could happen, the Jedi did nothing to prevent Anakin feeling that way Let me use an example to help explain, if I see a woman accidentally let go of her pram and it rolls towards the road, I can warn her that her baby is about to be hit by a car and do nothing to stop it like the Jedi. Or I can intervene and grab the pram before it's too late Anakin was set up for failure as the jedi realise he's a special case yet they lump him with the only jedi knight to not complete the jedi trials. They saw Anakin as special but refused to give him any special treatment I just think they could have done a little better than telling a child who's just been separated from his mother that he will be suffering because of it, first impressions matter you know

@more-reasons6655 1) How did the Jedi do nothing to prevent Anakin from feeling that way? Anakin was taught not to form attachments just like every other padawan. 2) Obi-Wan *did* complete the trials. Defeating a Sith Lord turned out to be his trials. Jedi can be rewarded with Knight status if they live through a very trying ordeal and remain true to the code. 3) How would giving Anakin special treatment fix things? If they give Anakin special treatment, then that alienates Anakin from his fellow padawans and inflates his own ego. I swear, if the Jedi *did* give Anakin special treatment, there would still be people complaining "The Jedi gave Anakin special treatment and didn't treat him like every other padawan, which doomed him from the start"

@@MrZackavelli so you agree that the Jedi contradict themselves most of the time Your second point is clarifying that they gave Obiwan special treatment for defeating a sith lord but your third point you state they wouldn't give Anakin any special treatment for being a rare case in that he's 9 and therefore already has made attachments As for your first point, there's a difference between starting as a jedi and never forming any attachments vs starting with attachments and then becoming a jedi. The council arent stupid and they should recognise that difference We know that the way the old Jedi dealt with attachments is part of their down fall. Luke has attachments which lead him to give up on his Jedi training but he still came out a great Jedi because Yoda and Obi Wan weren't going to ostracise him for his attachments like they would to Anakin, then again Yoda did say Luke would become "an agent of evil" if he went to save his friends so maybe Yoda's just been wrong all this time

No, it's his reply to that exact statement, that "there's still good in him". This time it's Luke who deeply holds that belief, as kind of a successor in spirit to his mother.

“I’m gonna miss them when Anakin goes Dark Side.” CLONE (and I cannot stress this enough) WARS. 😆 Honestly, I wish everyone could experience The Clone Wars before Revenge of the Sith, and it makes me sad that the vast majority of, at the very least, reactors never will. They always wanna put out content on something of a schedule, put out movie series as close together as possible for instance, which I get and makes sense. But this movie is SO much harder, and Anakin’s fall is _so_ much more believable, if you’ve seen Clone Wars, and I dearly wish I could have had that context the first time I saw this. Granted, I saw it on launch in 2005, three years before CW started, but still.

Anakin wasn't lying to Padme, the Jedi did try to overthrow the Republic from a certain point of view. The went to arrest the chancellor and were going to put themselves in charge until a new leader would eventually be chosen. The Republic wasn't officially The Empire yet so where is the lie?

The Jedi didn't try to overthrow the Republic no matter what viewpoint you loom at it from. They wanted to preserve the Republic and prevent it from being turned into a tyrannical empire, and to do that they would have to temporarily take control of the Republic until a new Chancellor could be elected, at which point they would relinquish their power.

Yeah Vader did the same we can rule the galaxy together thing with Luke but there he was trying to turn him to the Dark Side by being manipulative and truly wanted his help to either serve the Emperor or truly take him down. I don't think the rule of two had been thought of back during Empire. But here he's just desperate not to lose Padme and sadly he does because its out of selfish love. Yes he does Love Padme but he only wants her to live because "he" doesn't want to lose her and doesn't care how he saves her even if she would rather die then see him go down this path.

Imo it's the exact same offering for both Padmé and Luke. It's Vader talking, not Anakin. By that point he's just completely manic and has completely lost touch with his initial mission to save Padmé. The dark side has consumed and blinded him. Luckily, Kim was right about Luke being his mother's son and denying the offer while sticking to his belief that there's still good in Anakin, just like Padmé did.

@@Slashycent You ever read the Darth Vader comics? They are good, one of them is set after Empire Strikes Back, and we see Anakin having a nightmare about Luke falling down below Cloud City, only he turns into Padme as he falls. The crazy part is how the very same people who stress how pain, anger and suffering will cause Anakin to fall are the ones who completely ignore, disrespect and give zero advice when he turns to them for advice. There's SO MUCH going on in that scene with Mace and the Emperor. The Emperor playing Anakin like a fiddle, Mace overstepping the mark for the right reasons, Anakin overstepping the line for the right reasons, the joy in the Emperor's eyes as he finally gets to avenge the Sith, the loss of hope in Anakin's eyes as he loses faith in the Jedi and pledges himself to the enemy. For all its flaws, this is just so much better written than the Sequel Trilogy.

This is how it feels to be Anakin Skywalker, forever: The first dawn of light in your universe brings pain. The light burns you. It will always burn you. Part of you will always lie upon black glass sand beside a lake of fire while flames chew at your flesh. You can hear yourself breathing. It comes hard, and harsh, and it scrapes nerves already raw, but you cannot stop it. You can never stop it. You cannot even slow it down. You don’t even have lungs anymore. Mechanisms hardwired into your chest breathe for you. They will pump oxygen into your bloodstream forever. Lord Vader? Lord Vader, can you hear me? And you can’t, not in the way you once did. Sensors in the shell that prisons your head trickle meaning directly into your brain. You open your scorched-pale eyes; optical sensors integrate light and shadow into a hideous simulacrum of the world around you. Or perhaps the simulacrum is perfect, and it is the world that is hideous. Padme? Are you here? Are you all right? you try to say, but another voice speaks for you, out from the vocabulator that serves you for burned-away lips and tongue and throat. Padme? Are you here? Are you all right? I’m very sorry, Lord Vader. I’m afraid she died. It seems in your anger, you killed her. This burns hotter than the lava had. No…no, it is not possible! You love her. You have always loved her. You could never will her death. Never. But you remember… You remember all of it. You remember the dragon that you brought Vader forth from your heart to slay. You remember the cold venom in Vader’s blood. You remember the furnace of Vader’s fury, and the black hatred of seizing her throat to silence her lying mouth… And there is one blazing moment in which you finally understand that there was no dragon. That there was no Vader. That there was only you. Only Anakin Skywalker. That it was all you. Is you. Only you. You did it. You killed her. You killed her because, finally, when you could have saved her, when you could have gone away with her, when you could have been thinking about her, you were thinking about yourself… It is in this blazing moment that you finally understand the trap of the dark side, the final cruelty of the Sith - Because now yourself is all you will ever have. And you rage and scream and reach through the Force to crush the shadow who has destroyed you, but you are so far less now than what you were. You are more than half machine, you are like a painter gone blind, a composer gone deaf, you can remember where the power was but the power you can touch is only a memory, and so with all your world-destroying fury it is only droids around you that implode, and equipment, and the table on which you were strapped shatters, and in the end, you cannot touch the shadow. In the end, you do not even want to. In the end, the shadow is all you have left. Because the shadow understands you, the shadow forgives you, the shadow gathers you unto itself- And within your furnace heart, you burn in your own flame. This is how it feels to be Anakin Skywalker. Forever…

when you ask yourself at the end of the film, why doesn't anakin ignore the vision. It's deeper in the books. It's almost every night that Anakin has this vision. This frightens him so much that he doesn't even dare to sleep. This is also one of the reasons that makes it easy for Palpatine. And why Anakin is easily emotional. He can't sleep anymore, he's worried. He's worn out. Plus, in the books he almost wanted to leave the jedi order. He was tired of all the attention. He was tired of being the chosen one. He was fed up with what the council of jedi masters demanded of him. He was tired of what Palpatine demanded of him. He dreamed of a simple life with Padme. That's what he really was. The chosen one, despite himself. " i hate you " to obi wan is also. Anakin hates his position. Anankin never talk about his position of chosen one in the second part of the film. Others talks about. Windu, yoda, obi wan etc. Becoming father changes a lot of his real purpose. Wasnt anymore himself and being chosen one there is also a main thing in star wars. There are actually a lot of deleted scenes of Padme and some of the other senators plotting how to remove Chancellor Palpatine's power and return the senate back to diplomacy in what is very clearly the infancy of the rebellion. Unfortunately due to the run time, those scenes had to be deleted but the intention to give Padme more screen time was there. In terms of the next reaction, I'd really like to see you react to the clone wars series. It's 7 seasons so I understand if it's too much for a reaction series but it gives interesting storylines to favorites such as Anakin, Obi-wan, and Padme. Give deeper backstory and lore to background characters such as the Jedi, Separatists, and Senators. As well as introducing new and equally interesting characters. So in conclusion even if you don't react to it might be worth watching in your own time.

He understands that he was responsible for Padme's death, and he understands how he was manipulated, but his connection to the force is diminished due to loss of limbs. The emperor will always be stronger because of that and the suit the emperor created deals him constant pain. He has to use the force to fend that off. There were more technologically advanced suits, but the emperor chose that one so Darth Vader couldn't overthrow him. Vader's depression in this state kept him connected to the dark side. No one said being the chosen one was glamorous. It's supposed to be sacrificial - as men are supposed to be. And all of this perfectly portrays the amount of physical and mental agony many men face every day and stay silent about. There's a much deeper meanings to Star Wars in my opinion.

"His fate will be the same as ours." And then all three of them ended up dying on one of the Death Stars. Anakin had no idea how right he was.

I loved your precise reactions totally. One of the smartest people who react movies like this. Impressive. Very impressive. 😊 Note: visions Anakin was seeing were being supplanted by palps into his mind by force.

Palpatine hamming it up, cackling maniacally and generally being over the top as Sidious is deliberate in universe; the Dark Side relies on channeling the Force through strong emotions. The Sith code literally says "Peace [*of mind, jedi-like] is a lie, there's only Passion; Through Passion I gain Strength, through Strength - Power, through Power - Victory!". It's so much easier, eg. unleashing murderous force lightning when you laugh imagining the UNLIMITED POWER you're gonna have any minute now if only you win this. Another way (through less popular for obvious, selfish reasons) practiced by some ancient Sith (like Darth Malgus) for a powerboost was hurting (often killing) someone you love to let your own grief and self-hatred be fuelling you permanently, more than any other emotion - which is what Sidious puts Vader into.

Another great reaction, Kim!! I really hope that at some point you will react to the Obi-wan Kenobi series. It takes place 10 years after revenge of the sith and portrays the whole dilemma that Obi had to face after these events. The finale is just heartbreaking!!!

You're probably one of the most observant of all the people who have bothered to react to these movies. You manage to commit a lot of those little details that they sprinkle around these movies that make the experience more enjoyable when you catch them.
